How to Enter Angler's Cave

Before you can enter Angler's Cave, you must travel to Animal Village, make the Walrus move, find the Angler's Key and find the entrance to Angler's Cave.

LOCATE ANIMAL VILLAGE
To find Animal Village, go to Map location 11-K and cut down the small bush to reveal a staircase. Enter the staircase and go to the other side, then go down two screens and right one screen to enter Animal Village. Talk to every one in town to learn about the Walrus who blocks the path to the Yarna Desert.

MAKE THE WALRUS MOVE
To get past the Walrus, you will need Marin's help. Give the Honeycomb to the Cook in the Animal village, then talk to her later for a clue about Marin. Return to Mabe Village to learn that Marin has gone to the ocean. Travel to Toronbo Shores at map location 6-P to find Marin. To get there from Marin's House, go left one screen, down four screens, right one screen and down one screen. Talk to Marin and she will agree to follow you to the Walrus. (You must have the Ocarina or Marin will not help you. When you return to the Walrus, Marin will sing. The Walrus will move out of the way and allow you to enter the Yarna Desert.

FIND THE ANGLER'S KEY
To find the Angler's Key from where the Walrus was, go right one screen, then up three screens to fight the Lanmola. When it has been defeated, the Angler's Key will appear and fall into a nearby sinkhole. Step into the sinkhole to land in a room with the key, pick it up, then go right one screen and exit the cave.

ENTER ANGLER'S CAVE
Go to the Angler's Cave Lock at map location 12-C. Use the Angler's Key to open the entrance to the cave, then go to map location 12-B. To get there from the lock, go left two screens and down one screen, then climb the ladder up one screen. Next, go left two screens, up one screen and enter the cave. After you enter the cave, go right one screen and take the stairs, then go right one screen and take another set of stairs. Go right two screens, then exit the cave through the bottom door. Once you're outside, go right three screens and drop off the edge of the cliff to land at the entrance to Angler's Cave.

How to Complete Angler's Cave

THE SIDE-SCROLLING ROOM WITH LARGE FALLING BLOCKS
To get past he side-scrolling room with two large falling blocks, stand to the left of the second block to make it fall. Climb the ladder above you, then jump on top of the block as it moves back up. Jump to the small block above the ladder, then climb the ladder to the exit.

GET THE FLIPPERS
The Flippers are located in the top middle of Angler's Cave. To get them, start at the cave entrance. Go up one room and right one room, then unlock the right door with the Small Key. Go right one room and unlock the top door, then go up three rooms and unlock the locked block. Go left one room and unlock the top door, then go up one room and defeat the Water Cephalopod to open the top door. Go up one room and left one room to enter the room with the Flippers.

GET THE NIGHTMARE KEY
To get the Nightmare Key from where you found the Flippers, go down two rooms and left one room to enter a room with five tiles and a pool of water on the floor. Step on the tiles until one of them flashes. When it does, go to another tile and see if it flashes. When you discover the sequence of steps that makes all five tiles flash in a row, a hidden staircase will appear. (For a hint on the sequence check the other room in the dungeon that has flashing tiles.) Take the stairs. When you exit, go down one room and open the chest that contains the Nightmare Key.

FIND THE ANGLER FISH
To find the Angler Fish from where you found the Nightmare Key, go up one room, right one room and up one room, then step on the switch to open the door. Go up through the door, then unlock the block with a Small Key and take the stairs. When you exit, go left one room and up one room, then take the stairs to the Angler Fish's Lair.

DEFEAT THE ANGLER FISH
To defeat the ferocious Angler Fish, stay to the its left and repeatedly strike the glowing ball on its head. The fish will flash when it is taking damage. When it charges at you, be ready to avoid the blocks that fall from above. It will take about 15 hits with the Sword to defeat Angler Fish.
