Lets get something straight. I'm a strong atheist. That means I deny any form of God in case your oblivious to important world terms. Now, lets get something else straight. This article may sound like a big Christianity bash. IT IS NOT. It's a bash on conservative Christains who don't understand that not everyone wants to follow their religion. The 700 Club is a show on ABC Family that is so bias and manipulative, it's not even funny. Well...okay it is, but it really upsets me. That's not sarcasm, this show upsets me. Don't give me the "don't like it, don't watch" thing. These assholes who are manipulating gullible people into their out of wack, unbelieveable opinions. We, as decent Americans (and even better: decent human beings) cannot let this garbage dupe millions of people. That being said, keep in mind this isn't a bash on [more] open-minded Christains.
This, my friends, is Pat Robertson. He may look harmless, but he is an evil bastard. I'll justify that claim with the information below.
ABC Family hosts a show entitled "The 700 Club". Apparently, The 700 Club has been around for a very long time. It's a far right wing show about 'Christain news'. I use the term news loosely. In news, you don't offer your opinion in a story. You don't be biased, you don't discriminate, you don't have 50% fluff, and you don't offer your two cents. This is NOT news.
The ringleader of this freakshow, Robertson, has quotes dating back into the early 80's. It's nothing new by any means. So...why is he and his minions so bad? There isn't enough space to tell you why.
Watch one show. Make sure it's him hosting it, he's the main guy. Robertson is as right-wing as you can possibly get. He has been quoted saying that even if Bush makes a terrible mistake [IF?], he should still be our president only because of the fact that he's Christain. That's right. Understand this: the First Amendment in our Constitution. It goes something like this: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..."
Know what that means Mr. Robertson? That means that religion has NO PLACE in government. You want to worship? Do it in church, do it in the privacy of your own home, do it with a bunch of friends on feely-touchy Friday.
Nah, he doesn't care about that. In fact, here is are a few quotes relating to the cross between religion and government from Pat Robertson himself:

But the minute you turn the document into the hands of non-Christian people and atheistic people they can use it to destroy the very foundation of our society. And that's what's been happening."
"The public education movement has also been an anti-Christian movement...We can change education in America if you put Christian principles in and Christian pedagogy in. In three years, you would totally revolutionize education in America."
"You see what happened in 1962. They took prayer out of the schools. The next year the Supreme Court ordered Bible reading taken from the schools. And then progressing, liberals, most of them atheistic educators, have pushed to remove all religion from the lives of children...The people who wrote the "Humanist Manifesto" and their pupils and their disciples are in charge of education in America today."
"When I said during my presidential bid that I would only bring Christians and Jews into the government, I hit a firestorm. `What do you mean?' the media challenged me. `You're not going to bring atheists into the government? Read those carefully and realize what a nutcase this guy is. That last quote...I already stated what our Constitution says. If we aren't supposed to acknowledge religion in law, then how the hell does it NOT mean church and state are to remain seperated? News flash! I don't support seperating church and state just because I'm atheist, I support it so we all get equal freedom in religion. That's not fair to acknowledge one and not the other. Atheism is hardly a religion. Don't bring that shit up. A way that guarentee's we all get fair treatment is a secular government. Robertson does a terrible job on hiding his agenda to make a theocracy. This asshole ran for president before! Can you believe that? Chruch would become mandatory if this close-minded bigot got in office. That's not what America means...and we aren't "unamericans" for fighting for that. I hate that term. I'm watching it right now, although Robertson is not on right now, his followers/minions are. Michael Moore is being accused of "hatriotism" for opposing our governments actions in Iraq. I guess expressing our right as American's to protest is too unamerican and hateful. Now they're comparing Islamic Fundies to Christians and why Christians are better. I'm off topic, I'm sorry but this show is evil.
Pat Robinson also supports the denouncement of women. Yep, according to him, his Bible tells him men are better than women. Men, because they have a penis, rise above women. Why? The Bible says it! How could he ever use logic instead of a programmer? No way, there's no way that's gonna happen. Listen to these sickening quotes:
"I know this is painful for the ladies to hear, but if you get married, you have accepted the headship of a man, your husband. Christ is the head of the household and the husband is the head of the wife, and that's the way it is, period."
Notice how he doesn't ever question why? Why is it this way? Does this make sense to me personally? No...he follows his shepard because it's ordered of him to degrade women. Tell me, how is blindly following a rule in a book any different than what the Islamic Extremists are doing? They take everything in the Koran literally, so does this asshole. There is no difference. How do you explain that? Can you say contridiction? Your stupid religious fundies caused hatred and discrimination in America! Imagine that, people abusing a religion. The beloved churches in the slave days were spreading propaganda and lies. All black people want is young white girls. All black people are stupid. All black people are unpure in the name of Christ. Does that ring a bell? But all Christains are so good! They never do wrong! Get it through your head - your religion has caused tons of problems throughout history. It's not perfect, and when it gets in the wrong hands people abuse it.

Remember this Pat: if your God is all about love, why is it not okay for two people of the same sex to be in love? If your God (Jesus, whoever) says it's evil and sinful for two people to love each other because they both have penis, then God/Jesus is a complete asshole and I, a common yet simple human being, surpass his ominpotency. This man is the reason I have such a beef with "traditional values". As an extreme Christain conservatist, he wants to keep the world in a closed off view...no changes, no new ideas, the same ole' ideas and ethics used in the past. I can agree with a few conservy view points. The way our youth is growing up now is terrible. Almost every girl I know has a very hoochie-quality to them. Almost every guy I know is a sex fiend and hangs out with a bunch of drug buddies. But you know what? That's their decision. That is what these extreme right wing conservatists don't understand or won't accept. Accept there decision, doesn't mean you agree with it, but accept the facts and move on. It's simple. I hate most kids my age. They are immature, disrespectful, cocky, and over dramatic. So what? They aren't me. They annoy me, but they aren't me. Just like this show. I hate The 700 Club, I despise it, but I don't want it banned. Just because you disapprove of something doesn't give you the right to take it away from others. This is the USA, free speech all around. Although I disagree with many laws and our current administration, I love what the USA is supposed to stand for. You're not an "unamerican" for that. I love all these preachers of the unamerican way. I guess people forgot how we wiped out the indians to form the best country on earth. Ahh, but who cares about Indians! They live outside, they are inhumane and savage! Barbarians! We are superior! The white man! Here's a scenario unamerican accusers: What if our good ole' government decided to raid Canada because of "terrorist threats" by a mountie on the border lines. Should we support our government no matter what and wrongfully invade a country? Or should we do the "unamerican" thing and try and stop the bullshit and protest the immoral murder of people? I can't believe the government, an organization, is more important than human lives to some people.
There's something else to be discussed : money. The root of all evil. The forsaken green, the....okay you get it. This show asks views to PAY to PRAY. Can you believe that shit? You get to join the little 700 Club and become a "good Christian" if you pay money and pray. They urge you to pay, they almost make it seem as if you happen to not pay, you're not a good Christain. It's sickening. Even MORE sickening than PBS.
Then they set money goals. They ask a certain amount. Then they throw in a holy book, a holy guide to making money (which they've seem to mastered), a holy vibrater set. They throw in little extra things if you help them reach a dollar amount. They tell these heart breaking stories and they make it so you sympathize with them. It's manipulation at its finest. What a load of shit. Be religious all you want. When your damn religion begs you to pay to pray, then it's safe to say you best stay away. Like that rhyme? I sure do.
