Unkle- PSYENCE FICTION **** out of ***** possible
I enjoyed this album. My recent techno forays have increased my appreciation for this album. I admit, it was bought solely for one track, the positively wonderful "Rabbit in Your Headlights" (f/ Thom Yorke of Radiohead fame). Originally, I disliked this album, because i tend to listen by song titles. And the two coolest titles on this album make royally sucky songs. I refer to the songs subtitled "Drums of Death (Pts I and II)." They are techno-rap, which is one of my absolute least favorite subdivisions of techno. But tracks like "Bloodstain" and "Unreal" really hold this one together. DJ Shadow knows when to lay off the production and let a voice carry, and much of this album showcases this fact. This is beautiful ambient techno. I can recommend this album with a fair amount of certainty to ambient fans.

Unwritten Law- UNWRITTEN LAW **** out of ***** possible
Very good punk. UL has been a favorite of just about every punk fan for a long time and you can see why. The punk rocks a long at a great speed, while also encompassing elements of other styles and having a great melody. My only real complaint is that the band really doesn't have much variation, the only real exceptions are the Skynyrd-ish "Cailin" and the combination of punk and 60s-type effects in "Holiday." Buy it if you like punk. You will not be disappointed.
