The Pokemon Guide:

Episode 1 "I Choose You!"

Ash Ketchum dreams of becoming the world's greatest Pokemon trainer. He is to be given a Pokemon by Professor Oak but arrives late. Squirtle, Charmander, and Bulbasaur were all chosen but there was one left, Pikachu. At first Pikachu didn't like Ash too much, but after an incident where Ash was about to get the crap pecked out of him by Spearows to save Pikachu, Pikachu started to like Ash. Ash rushed Pikachu to the Viridian City Pokemon Center. And he had Misty, the girl he stole a bike from, right behind him.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Episode 2 "Pokemon Emergency!"

Pikachu is in bad shape after being beaten up by Spearows and Ash takes it to the Poke Center in Viridian. While waiting Ash talks to Prof. Oak via telephone and tells him he saw a Pokemon flying over a rainbow. Then Team Rocket debuts as the villains of the series and tries to get the sick Pokemon from the Pokemon Center with their Pokemon Koffing, Ekans, and Meowth. They are stopped by Ash's Pikachu who shocks them. Ash says goodbye and it's off through the Viridian Forest with Pikachu and Misty close behind.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Episode 3 "Ash catches a Pokemon!"

Ash enters Viridian Forest and upon his arrival sees a Caterpie and captures it. Misty is scared by the cute little Caterpie (and bugs in general). As time goes by Ash catches a Pidgeotto. Then the usual attack of Team Rocket comes and they try to steal Pikachu. But Caterpie beats Koffing, Ekans, and Meowth. It got a ton of experience from them and evolved into Metapod.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Episode 4 "Samurai Showdown"

Ash is still wandering through Viridian Forest when he finds a Weedle and battles it. He is about to capture it when a samurai shows up and distracts him. His Pinsir defeats Pidgeotto but then cannot beat Metapod. Metapod has to face the samurai's Metapod next and they just use Harden repeatedly. Then the match is stopped by a swarm of Beedrills. The Beedrills trap the samurai, Ash, and Misty in a cabin and take Metapod captive. In the morning Ash goes to retrieve

Metapod but Team Rocket wakes up all the Beedrills. Ash evaded the Beedrills and they chased Team Rocket. Matapod then saved Ash from a stray Beedrill and Metapod evolved into Butterfree and used it's Sleep Powder to knock the Beedrills and Team Rocket out. It's off to Pewter City!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Episode 5 "Showdown in Pewter City"

Ash goes and heals his Pokemon and tries to defeat Brock, the Pewter Gym leader. Pikachu gets whooped by Brock's Onix and then Ash follows a man to an old shack. The man shows Ash how Brock has to take care of all of his brothers and sisters. Then they take Pikachu to a watermill and power him up using some weird machine. The next day Ash goes to battle Brock again. Pidgeotto gets beat by Geodude, then Geodude gets whooped by Pikachu, then Onix is about to beat Pikachu when Brock tells it to stop because he didn't want to hurt Pikachu. Then the sprinklers go off and Onix is severely weakened but Ash doesn't have the heart to hurt it. As Ash is leaving Brock gives him a BoulderBadge and joins Ash on his quest because he wants to be a great Pokemon breeder. The man Ash saw earlier was Brock's father who left home long ago and he said he would take care of the family while Brock was away.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then as they are escaping Onix derails them. Then Pikachu and a Clefairy lead the way to a cavern in Mt. Moon and in it is the Moon Stone and a bunch of Clefairys dancing around it. They are about to give Ash the CascadeBadge when Misty shows up and says she is the fourth sister and she battles Ash. Team Rocket appears to try to capture Pikachu, but they end up capturing A.J.'s Sandshrew instead, and as a result A.J. challenges them and defeats them, marking that victory as his 100th win. A.J. and Ash make up their differences, and they go their seperate ways.

On their way to Vermillion City, Ash and his friends encounter some students from Pokemon Technical, a school that teaches Pokemon training and fighting teachniques and that allows, upon graduation, permission to enter the Pokemon League without travelling to collect all the badges. Ash and the others take offence at the arrogance of the students, and are challenged by Giselle, the best beginning-rank student. She defeats Misty's Starmie with her Graveller, a Pokemon weak against water. Ash then challenges her, and she matches Cubone, a Fighting-type Pokemon, against Pikachu. After a long and difficult battle, Pikachu defeats Cubone, humbling Giselle. When Ash and the others try to follow them, they encounter numerous traps which slow them down, including a collapsing bridge, a pit, and a net. Eventually, they reach a cabin in the woods. The cabin belongs to Melanie, who provides it as a resting place for abandoned Pokemon. Bulbasaur volunteered to protect the Pokemon who stay here, and is angry that Ash and his friends are at the cabin. When Team Rocket shows up, however, Ash helps Bulbasaur to save the other Pokemon and chase off Team Rocket once again. Grateful for his help, Melanie offers to give Bulbasaur to Ash... but Bulbasaur will only do it if Ash defeats him in a Pokemon battle. Reluctantly, they leave him there and continue to the Pokemon Center. There they discover that Charmander's trainer, Damian, abandoned Charmander and has no intention of coming back. Ash and his friends return to rescue Charmander just as he is becoming weak. They bring him back to the Pokemon Center to recover, but Charmander escapes into the morning, intending to return to the rock to wait for Damian. Meanwhile, Team Rocket builds another trap intended to catch Pikachu; instead, Ash and the others fall in, leaving Pikachu alone. Jessie and James are wearing suits to protect them from Pikachu's electrical attacks, and capture him. However, Charmander appears and defeats Team Rocket, saving Pikachu.
