46 BC-12D-85 (Click to see Photo)
46 BC-12D-85 with metal prop, full skylight, 8.50 tires, GPS, handheld radio with properly working antenna, lots of new, repaired, or upgraded stuff. New 2 piece low maintenance exhaust. Wing tank gives 18 gal. total, 300 mile range 3 hr + reserve. Has the C-85-12 engine so if you
want to upgrade the plane later (electrical system) for instrument training you have the right engine for the F-19 conversion. Flies 100 mph in cruise, takeoff and land in 300 feet or less. Nice condition but not a champion showplane.
The biggest item of value is that this airplane is straight, undamaged, and does not have tubing splices. Most old airplanes aren't so lucky, and their value is lower. Fabric is very good, paint on wings slightly cracked but good. Price is $18,000 with GPS and radio, which is a slight loss. Transition into the Taylorcraft (if you need it) is available on field. Delivery is available if needed. Located Los Angeles area (Whiteman Airport WHP).
This aircraft has many advantages: Welcome at airports, gliderports, ultralight strips. 2 people plus baggage with good performance on a hot day (try that with a 65 horse Cub!) Going up in value steadily as a classic. Lowest operating cost per hour of any "reliable" aircraft, and
you can also do 80% of the maintenance yourself. No property tax for antique aircraft. Cost for a flying 85 horse certified airplane lower than the kit only cost of Kitfox, Avid, etc. 2 stroke homebuilts. Welcome at fly-ins and airshows front and center. Exempt from transponder requirement.
Comes with fresh annual and DETAILED maintenance notes.

Description:
B1-RD (commonly called the "Bird") is a true ultra-Light aircraft. Built by an established aircraft manufacturing company using ALL aircraft-grade bolts, nuts, washers, cables, and aircraft grade aluminum. Equipped with a two-cycle 30 HP Cuyuna engine utillizing a 4/belt reduction drive powering a 6 ft propeller, giving the a/c remarkable take-off power and climbing abilities for short field operations.
The a/c controls are standard confrigration, rudder pedals controlling the rudder, and the stick controlling the airelons and elevator... same as all standard aircraft. This feature makes the B1-RD exceptionally SAFE for pilots transitioning into or from standard aircraft. The wing sail/surface is single-sided, (no bottom wing surface covered), gives the B1-RD exceptionally high lifting and slow-flight capabilities. The single-surface wing covering also enhances the ease of disassembly and assembly for storing in limited space. The aircraft can be reasonably dissassembled or reassemled, (for storage/flight) eaisily within a morning/afternoon. [the factory advertizes 1/2 to one hour ... however i do not feel this is realistic for the average flyer, as ample time should be given for re-checking all components for flight safety]
Aircraft is like NEW... approximate 4 hours total time...always hangared! Offered at $7,765 OBO
