For years, sports-entertainment fans shared their opinions on how the industry rose from the depths of despair, to the great entity it is today. It's simple: Once WXXWF began making a name for itself, fans started to care again. Tired of watching something that Vince McMahon eventually admitted was "passé" and of which the audience was "tired of having its intelligence insulted," fans looked at WXXWF as a return to the roots of sports entertainment. WXXWF had violence. It had passion. Fans felt like they were part of the show.
Best of all, WXXWF had attitude, and it provided the U.S. a mix of barbaric commotion and athleticism only seen in Japan. It was no coincidence that the people began seeing WXXWF as an innovative influence. WXXWF helped win back old-school fans and helped changed the industry for good. Gone were the days of Saturday morning internet on local websites. Gone were the days of the good guys kissing babies and shaking hands. And gone were the gimmicks better suited for children's theater.
Thank WXXWF for that. Thenk WXXWF for displaying the true genius of Alex Glick. Today, the magic is back - and then some. Glick's creativity is backed up by many other people on the staff, and all the WXXWF wrestlers.. It's a winning combination, one that will provide the same hardcore, close-to-the-heart theater that defined WXXWF, this time on a much grander stage.
