SmackDown! results 21/12/00

Hand in hand, Vince McMahon and Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley headed to the ring as SmackDown! kicked off from Charlotte, N.C. Mr. McMahon said he had a confession to make -- that he wasn't a role model. He said it wasn't right to drive your wife to a nervous breakdown, or to fire a legendary performer at Christmastime -- but it was all right for him, because he is Vince McMahon! He said he owed everything to himself and to his little girl, Stephanie.
Stephanie thanked her father for giving her master genetics, and the ability to find weaknesses in people. Stephanie said that her mom would never be the businessperson that her father was, because Linda had a heart. Stephanie said she loved her mother, but her mom just wan't the right person for the job. As the crowd chanted for former Commissioner Mick Foley, Stephanie reminded the crowd that the former Federation Champion was fired.

Stephanie said that her father had always treated Federation Superstars fairly, unlike Foley. She talked about how Foley forced her husband, Triple H, to compete in a Hell in the Cell match when he wasn't medically cleared to do so -- and now the Game was in traction. She said that Federation Superstars and fans were better off with her father in control
After the commercial break, Mr. McMahon told his daughter to leave the arena to be with her injured husband -- after all, he said, you should always be at the side of your loved ones when they are in pain. After Stephanie left, Trish Stratus approached Mr. McMahon and suggested he make a match for SmackDown! pitting Jacqueline against Women's Champion Ivory. Mr. McMahon said it was a very good idea, and he and Trish walked away arm in arm!

The first match on SmackDown! featured tag team action, as the Dudley Boyz took on Lo Down. Before the match, Tiger Ali Singh told the crowd to stop disrespecting them by calling them taxi drivers! The Dudleys would pick up the win, as D-Von pinned Chaz after a 3-D.

Backstage, Mr. McMahon asked referee Tim White about his condition, after he was stunned by Stone Cold Steve Austin on RAW. Mr. McMahon promised Tim that referees would be treated with respect from now on, and that it would start tonight.

Next up, Jackiechallenged Ivory for the Women's Championship. Prior to the match, Ivory told Jackie that her behavior on Monday night -- when she was drinking and smoking with the APA -- was reprehensible, and Ivory would have to teach her a lesson, just like she did Chyna. Soon after the match began, Ivory's allies in the Right to Censor headed to ringside. Their distraction helped Ivory pin Jackie following a roll-up.

After the match, Faarooq and Bradshaw headed to the ring and cleaned house on the Right to Censor, helping out their new friend, Jackie.
Backstage, Mr. McMahon offered Debra a position as Lt. Commissioner in his new regime. He asked Debra what match she would make if she were to take such a position. Debra suggested Billy Gunn vs. Steven Richards. Mr. McMahon agreed, and then Debra said she would be happy to be his Lt. Commissioner.

Kevin Kelly then interviewed The Rock, one half of the Tag Team Champions with the Undertaker. The Rock said it was disgusting how Edge & Christian beat on Mick Foley when he was down Monday night, and he dared them to beat on him later that night. He said the only plan for SmackDown! was that he would kick both their candy asses!

Mr. McMahon then walked into Stone Cold Steve Austin's locker room to address Austin stunning referee Tim White on RAW. The Rattlesnake said that White made the wrong call. Mr. McMahon told Austin that he had to learn respect for referees, so he told Stone Cold that he would have to referee the European Championship match later in the night on SmackDown!
In six-man tag-team action, the Hardy Boyz and Chris Jericho took on Dean Malenko, Perry Saturn and Chris Benoit of the Radicalz. Before the match, Jericho showed a picture of "Mr. Roboto" Chris Benoit's new girlfriend -- Rosie from the Jetsons! Y2J then said that all Benoit wanted for Christmas was his one front tooth. Y2J won the match for his team after a Lionsault on Dean Malenko.

Backstage, Mr. McMahon stopped Raven in the hallway and said that after standing up to the Undertaker last week on SmackDown!, he was rewarding him with a Hardcore Championship match against Steve Blackman on SmackDown!

Referee Tim White then approached Stone Cold and handed him a referee's shirt. The Rattlesnake took one look at it, threw it down, and just spraypainted "Ref 3:16" on the back of his T-shirt!

Stone Cold refereed the next contest, a European Championship match between William Regal and Hardcore Holly. As the two men battled for the title, Austin just sat back and drank some beers! During the match, he even went over to Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler to provide some color commentary! Pretty soon, Regal accidentally caused the Rattlesnake to spill his beer -- so Ref 3:16 stunned both the champion and challenger! With both men down, Stone Cold began the 10-count -- but at the count of 4, he got thirsty and just started drinking a beer! Then, all of a sudden, out of nowhere, Kane headed to the ring! The Big Machine nailed Austin with a massive chokeslam!

After the match, Stone Cold headed into Mr. McMahon's dressing room and accused him of sending Kane to the ring. Mr. McMahon denied everything, but said that if Austin really wanted Kane, he could have him one-on-one Christmas night on RAW IS WAR!

Next up, Crash and Molly Holly took on Kaientai. Before the match, Taka told the Hollys that they had grown tired and wearisome, and Funaki said, "Indeed!" Crash won the match with a Tornado DDT on Funaki! After the match, Taka promised they would live to fight another day, and Funaki said, "Indeed!" The men were speaking English, even though their lips didn't seem to be in sync with their words!

Lilian Garcia interviewed the Undertaker, who told Edge & Christian that pain was the name of the game. In another area backstage, Edge & Christian were worried that that meant that Taker would try to get himself disqualified intentionally to retain the Tag Team Championship. They told Kurt Angle that he promised they would regain their titles, and Kurt said he would see what he could do.

Steve Blackman then defended his Hardcore Championship against Raven. Blackman would nail Raven with a DDT off the top rope onto a garbage can, and then pin Raven to retain his title.

Backstage, Kurt Angle approached Mr. McMahon and told him how concerned Edge & Christian were with the Undertaker's earlier words. Mr. McMahon said he had an idea to make certain that it would be a very fair match. After a brief conversation with Mr. McMahon about his gold medals, Angle went back to Edge & Christian and said that Mr. McMahon guaranteed a fair match. Edge & Christian asked if that meant that Angle would run down and help -- to which Angle said no, because that wouldn't be fair. Angle walked away with a confident smile on his face, but Edge & Christian were confused.

In a match made by Lt. Commissioner Debra, Billy Gunn earned a measure of revenge for Chyna against Steven Richards, pinning the Right to Censor leader after a sleeper slam.

The main event on SmackDown! was the Tag Team Championship rematch pitting Rock & Undertaker against former champions Edge & Christian. Just before the match began, Kurt Angle headed to the ring in a referee's shirt! Mr. McMahon had named the World Wrestling Federation Champion as guest referee for the match-up! As expected, Angle was partial to Edge & Christian, refusing to count a pinfall after a Last Ride! An angered Rock gave the referee a Rock Bottom! With Angle out, referee Earl Hebner headed to the ring to officiate. But he was soon distracted outside the ring.
The Rock then went for the People's Elbow on Edge, but Angle snuck up behind him and delivered an Olympic Slam! Angle then dragged Edge on top of The Rock and counted the three-count! Edge & Christian are now five-time Tag Team Champions, thanks to referee Kurt Angle!
