Only a few days from Uncensored, Thunder provided some different perspectives of its two most famous wrestlers. The program started with Anderson confronting Flair about his son; later, Hogan discussed his own feelings about David and Ric Flair. Both superstars made some very uncharacteristic comments -- and added some colossal stipulations to their First Blood match.
PLUS: Perry Saturn and the Horsemen get medieval for Uncensored, a surprise visitors thanks the fans and Buff Bagwell returns to singles competition.
Thunder replayed Arn Anderson's conversation with David Flair and Torrie Wilson. Anderson pleaded with David, but the youngster refused to listen.
Live at Thunder, Anderson confronted Ric Flair about his apathy towards David's betrayal. The Nature Boy claimed that he refused to worry about David, and would focus all his energy on Hollywood Hogan. Anderson was stunned at his best friend's coldness. Flair didn't seem to care.
Thunder replayed Ric Flair's phenomenal interview this past Nitro in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and Big Poppa Pump and Buff Bagwell's challenge to Bill Goldberg and Ric Steiner... Highlights were replayed of that main event match.
Rick Steiner d. Hugh Morrus with Jimmy Hart
The Dog-faced Gremlin experienced his first singles contest, and proved he was still WCW's suplex machine. Despite Hart's interference and repeated splashes from Morrus, Steiner countered the No Laughing Matter moonsault with wheel-barrel suplex, and ended the bout with the Steinerdog.
Gene Okerlund Interview: Dean Malenko and Chris Benoit
Malenko and Benoit swore revenge on Barry Windham and Curt Hennig, since the ex-Horsemen used a belt to steal the tag team straps. The Iceman then announced that their Uncensored rematch would have a special stipulation: the ring would be surrounded by 8 lumberjacks, wielding belts on any athlete thrown from, or trying to escape the ring.
Ernest "The Cat" Miller and Sonny Onoo d. Al Greene
This handicap match was meant as a warm-up match for Miller-Onoo, but the Cat spent more time warming up his mouth. Greene attacked Miller during his opening schpiel, but lost momentum quickly, due to Cat's tenacity and Onoo's distractions. Onoo was tagged after Miller hit his sidekick; the manager made a cocky pin.
Gene Okerlund Interview: Saturn
Sporting a dress and a dog-collar, Saturn told Okerlund that chicks dug guys in drag. The dangerous wrestler also challenged Chris Jericho to a dog-collar match. Jericho and Ralphus interrupted the bald bombshell, and accepted the match. The Lionheart continued to call Saturn a freak; Saturn promised to dress for success at Uncensored.
Bam Bam Bigelow d. Prince Iaukea
Rebounding from his loss to Rey Mysterio, Bigelow reestablished his giant status against the agile and quick Prince. Iaukea used all his offensive weaponry -- including a springboard senton splash --, but couldn't slow down the Beast. Bigelow picked Iaukea out of the air, and delivered his Greetings From Asbury Park finisher.
Barry Windham and Curt Hennig d. Horace Hogan and Vince
More a melee than a match, things broke down during this contest when Stevie Ray beat Vince back to the dressing room. Hennig and Windham tried to take advantage, but were attacked by the Horsemen. Dean Malenko and Chris Benoit whipped their Uncensored opponents severely, and caused a disqualification.
Jim Duggan Interview
Duggan talked about his bout with cancer, and thanked the Lord for allowing him to live through the disorder. He thanked everyone for their support. Duggan said he hasn't decided if he will return to the ring, and has to discuss the possibility with his family.
Billy Kidman d. Chavo Guerrero, Jr.
The impressive feud between these youngsters continues. Chavo continued to develop his new, aggressive style, while Kidman again exhibited the skills that have made him Cruiserweight Champion for over 4 months. After both men delivered wild aerials and crushing suplexes, Chavo attempted to use the ropes to gain a pinfall, but was caught by official Billy Silverman. Kidman followed with a roll-up, but couldn't get the three. After a power bomb, Kidman delivered the Shooting Star Press for the pin.
The New World Order presented a video featuring Hollywood Hogan. The World Champion talked about his own son, and how he was surprised about Ric Flair's reaction to David's betrayal. Hogan added a stipulation to his upcoming Uncensored match: if Hogan wins Flair would leave wrestling forever, but if Flair can win -- he will have control of WCW for the rest of his career. Hogan said that fighting Flair made him remember his days as a hero, and really made him believe he was the greatest wrestler of all time.
Buff Bagwell d. Booker T.
In his first singles match-up in over a year, Bagwell actually looked more jacked than ever, and showed fans that he could still wrestle the same power-oriented style. Unfortunate for Buff Daddy, Booker T. seemed unstoppable in this bout, using a variety of kicks and slams to weaken his re-debuting foe. Attempting a spinkick, Booker T. inadvertently struck official Mickey J. The mishap gave Big Poppa Pump a golden opportunity to even the odds with a steel chair. BPP leveled the Harlem Heater, tossed him into the ring and revived Mickey J. Bagwell hit the Blockbuster and took the victory.
