News & Rumors Report
Big Show should be returning this week.
The WWF and Viacom won their lawsuit against the USA Network, which now gives the WWF the opportunity to partner with Viacom, and leave the USA Network. As part of the WWF/Viacom deal, the WWF is expected to move Raw is War, LiveWire, and Superstars to TNN, and move Sunday Night Heat to MTV.
The Monday Night Ratings are in, and once again Raw destroyed Nitro. Raw pulled in a 6.4 composite, based on hours of 5.7 and 7.0. Nitro did a 2.8 composite rating, with hours of 3.2 and 2.5.
In other WWF ratings news, WWF Livewire on Saturday did a 1.1 rating, while WWF Superstars on Sunday pulled in a 1.4 rating. The pre-King of the Ring edition of WWF Sunday Night Heat did a 2.7 rating.
The WWF cookbook, entitled "Can You Take the Heat?" is expected to be released in October.
Headbanger Mosh is now wrestling under his real name, Chaz. He wrestled under his real name several months ago, until the Headbangers re-united. It now looks like the Headbangers have been taken out of the picture, at least for the time being.
The WWF is considering turning Stephanie McMahon on Triple H, siding with Kurt Angle, and having Triple H turn face.
The Big Show, Paul Wight, will be making his WWF return in about 2 weeks. Since on the shelf for a knee injury which lead to successful surgery, the Big Show has been out on the side line, recuperating from the injury. A possible run-in at this Sunday's WWF pay-per view, King of the Ring hasn't been ruled out, but is very unlikely.
Both Grand Master Sexay and Tori have signed contract extensions.
The Hollywood Reporter says the guest appearance of Samuel L. Jackson on Smackdown! caused the show to climb above its season average to 7.7 million viewers. It was also UPN second best Thursday rating among women, and the 7.7 million viewers was more than Fox and the WB combined.
Bart Gunn was backstage at the Raw event in Nashville last Monday.
Malenko has been working the past few weeks with a tear in his shoulder. He was in a great deal of pain with it, but it was bothering him more on certain weightlifting movements than it was doing matches. He's expected to undergo an MRI after television this week and depending on the results, may miss some action.
