WWF Royal Rumble for Sega DreamCast
Current Release Date: October 2000
Update June 3, 2000
Today's update is going to be kind of a reality check for those anticipating Royal Rumble. You may wind up not as psyched for the game as you previously were, but you'll know the facts. IGN said it best when they said if you only own a DreamCast, you'll be very disappointed with Royal Rumble.
WWF Royal Rumble is now at about 45% completion. While there is still a while ago and a few things have yet to be finalized, there are a lot of questions about the game that have been answered.
Basically, what most people have been wondering, is 'Will Royal Rumble be like No Mercy and SmackDown! 2?'. The answer to that is no. Royal Rumble is not really for the die hard wrestling game fanatics. Don't expect tons of features and wrestlers in RR.
The only modes will be Royal Rumble or Exhibition. No Create-a-Wrestler, no season modes, no Titantron videos, no 5 diffferent arenas to play in. Its still unclear if there will be a cage match in the game, but its expected cage matches will be reserved for championship matches.
The game WILL however feature 20 of the WWF's best, upto 9 wrestlers in the ring at once (which is a first), specific moves, taunts, and CD quality theme musics for each wrestler,.
So to sum it up, get Royal Rumble if you're also planning to get No Mercy or SmackDown! 2. There's no doubt about it that this game will be very fun and addicting, but those who are looking for a game full of depth and constantly new things are going to be out of luck. Y'gotta remember that this game is an arcade game that's being offered to DreamCast users.

- WWF Royal Rumble for DreamCast will actually be the console version of a new arcade game that the WWF is releasing. Call it an updated version of the best wrestling arcade game ever (WrestleFest).
- The game will feature arcade style fighting. Much like Tekken, it will at times have motion blurs and character flashes.
- The game currently features 20 wrestlers. A full list hasn't been made available, but a few guys already confirmed are Steve Austin, The Undertaker, The Rock, Kane, Mick Foley, The Big Show, Chris Jericho, The Road Dog, Vince McMahon, Shane McMahon, X-Pac, Al Snow, Kurt Angle, Tazz, and Rishiki. Each wrestler will have several outfits, as well as custom taunts.
- Its expected that there will be, as there are in every wrestling game, hidden characters that can be unlocked by doing different things in the game.
- The game only features two modes - Royal Rumble and Exhibition. In Royal Rumble mode, there are 100 men you have to go through to become the winner. Since there will only be 20 or so wrestlers, they'll return to the match later on after they've been eliminated.
- In Royal Rumble mode, you can have upto 9 wrestlers in the ring at once - with (reportedly) no slowdown whatsoever.
- There will be interactive backstage environments where you can hold exhibition matches, including parking garages, etc.
Other info:
At this point all I can say is the game definately has potential. No its not going to be WrestleMania 2000 with Create-a-Wrestler and Season modes, that game was geared towards the die hard WWF video game junkie while this game will be a little less involved but will be very fun to play. And don't worry - its not going to be anything like WWF In Your House (PSX) with guys jumping 50 feet in the air and killing eachother ala Mortal Kombat.
