This scorpion's attitude, forged from a friend's betrayal, is a stark departure of the multi-colored face paint, bright ring attire and blond coiffure of years ago. After a time of intimidating silence, Sting is silent no more; ready to build upon his reputation as the "franchise" of WCW.
This native of Venice Beach, Calif. was a major fan-favorite from the beginning of his ring exploits with several "Wrestler of the Year" honors to his credit. Before slamming opponents in the ring, he dunked basketballs in the collegiate ranks, as well as smacked volleyballs and surfed on the California coast. Sting also enjoys riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, off-road jeeps, golf and acting. His first work was the 1998 independent release The Real Reason. He also had roles in Hogan's television series "Thunder in Paradise." Sting was featured in a TNT Original Movie, Shutter Speed, which debuted in February 2000.
In 1999, Sting turned against his friends and his fans, siding with the one man who betrayed him from the start. But the fans would not let their hero remain on the side of evil. When the time came, and his one ally stabbed him in the back again, the fans embraced The Stinger, welcoming him back with open arms.
Over a decade ago, Sting was recognized as one of the true future superstars in the sport. Today, with six WCW Heavyweight Title reigns under his belt, he has surpassed anyone's expectations, and has risen from future star to certifiable legend in the world of wrestling.
