| WWF Smackdown Report for June 29, 2000 Taped from Hartford, CT Report by WrestleWomen.net The show begins with Triple H and Stephanie approaching Mick Foley's "office" which was in the boiler room. Triple H demands a match with Chris Jericho and Foley says he will do the right thing. Rikishi and Eddie Guerrero with Chyna took on Val Venis and Chris Benoit in a tag team match. Eddie Guerrero was phenomenal in this match performing many high spots. In the end, T and A came out with Trish Stratus and they held Chyna down and bad mouthed her. Then, Too Cool came in and interfered in the match which caused the match to be thrown out. After clearing out T and A, Val Venis and Chris Benoit, Too Cool, Rikishi, Eddie Guerrero and Chyna danced. Backstage, Kurt Angle was teaching Kaienti his new name...King. Hardcore Holly interrupts and bad mouths Angle and then kicks Angle's crown. Angle gets man and then Holly challenges him to a match. Hardcore Holly faced Kurt Angle. This match was a bit long and the crowd wasn't at all into it. Towards the end of the match, Kurt delivered the moonsault that injured Holly's arm. Surprisingly, Holly kept going, even mounting a bit of an offense afterwards. In the end, Angle won with the Olympic Slam. Backstage, Mick Foley is confronted by Edge and Christian. They ask if they don't have to defend their titles tonight. Mick said sure, instead they will be in singles matches. Christian has to take on Kane and Edge has to take on Undertaker. Stephanie McMahon comes out and demands that Mick Foley comes out and tells them if Triple H can face Chris Jericho. Mick comes out and says HHH will face Jericho, in a six man tag. Triple H will have Road Dogg and X-Pac and Jericho will have the Dudleys. The Godfather takes on Bull Buchanan. As the Godfather was about to do his usual speech he gets interrupted by Bull's theme music. Then, Godfather tries to start again, but is interrupted by Stevie Richards. Stevie makes it known that he wants to be referred to as Steven Richards. He says he will censor wrestling and make it more watchable. He then said if the Godfather doesn't stop bring out his half naked women, Steven will censor him. As Godfather is paying attention, he gets attacked from behind by Bull and the match begins. Rather slow match with Bull in control. In the end, Bull gets thrown to the outside and a ho is next to him and she gets knocked down. Godfather comes out, throws Bull in and then is distracted and gets the Bull kick for the win. Christian with Edge takes on Kane. Kane dominated most of the match. Kane gorilla pressed Christian into the ref and then the ref and Christian were in the corner. Kane went for a clothesline but Christian moved out of the way so the ref got clotheslined and knocked out. Kane then got Christian in a chokeslam and then Edge tried to interfere and Kane got Edge and was about to chokeslam both of them until Tazz runs in and hits Kane with a chair. Edge and Christian both grab chairs and sandwich Kane with it. Chrisitian then goes for the pin and the victory. Backstage, Lilian Garcia interviews Edge and Christian. Christian says good things do happen to good people as he just proved. Edge then says he thinks he will win now. A recap of The Rock and Wycelf on TRL was shown. They then showed the video of "It doesn't matter." Wyclef is in the audience tonight. Backstage, Chris Jericho and the Dudleys are talking about the match later tonight. Undertaker took on Christian with Edge. Christian and Edge again tried to double team but were unsuccessful. In the end, UT defeats Edge with a chokeslam. Christian comes in and they double team on UT until Kane comes in and breaks it up. Kane chokeslams Christian and Undertaker did a massive powerbomb on Edge. Backstage, Mick Foley runs into Al Snow (who is in the Steve Blackman gimmick pants.) Mick says that he has no hard feelings towards Al and to make it up he will give Al a title shot. Al asks if it is against the Rock and Mick cracks up laughing. He says he will give Al a shot at Crash Holly and the Hardcore Title. He told Al to get Head, everybody loves that. After the commercial break, Al comes out with different pants and Head. He hides under the ring and waits for Crash. Crash comes out and looks for Snow but doesn't see him so he reaches under the ring for weapons and drags out Al and the match begins. This is a very Hardcore style match. In the end, Crash was about to run off with the Hardcore Title when Steve Blackman comes out with nun chucks and his own ref and hits Crash with them and goes for the pin and wins the match and becomes the new Hardcore champion. After the commercial break, Steve was getting into his car when the Mean Street Posse tries to attack him but get beaten up severely. Chris Jericho is talking to the Dudleys and mentions how great it would feel to powerbomb Stephanie and Buh Buh was in one of his trances. After the commercial, Degeneration X came out to take on Chris Jericho and the Dudleys. This was a great six man tag team match. In the end, Triple H had D-Von and gave him the Pedigree for the victory. After the match, Buh Buh had Stephanie and wanted to put her through a table but X-Pac made the save. Triple H was on the apron and Jericho gave him a dropkick and Triple H went through a table. |
