A clip was shown of Curt Hennigs challenge to Goldberg on Thunder. Scott Hudson and Bobby Heenan announced that the match had been signed for later in the evening. Also, Kevin Nash and his mystery partner would face Hollywood Hogan and his mystery partner. A video tribute to Goldberg with Megadeths new singleCrush Em was aired.

--Mene Gene interviewed Hollywood Hogan. Hollwood said that he
heard "Kevina" Nash crying about Hogan being the world champion. He said that Nash saying that him being the future of wrestling is bull crap. He then said that he did not have a partner, and challenged anyone to face him. Nash, Rick Steiner, and Sid then came to the ring. Hogan said he did not need a partner to take care of Nash. Big Sexxy told Hogan that he begged to differ. The three then attacked Hogan until President Sting and his baseball bat made the save. Nash once again told Hogan"I beg to differ". Sting then walked away after seeingthat Hogan was okay.

Psychosis/Juventud Guerrera versus Bobby Duncum Jr./KendallWindham w/West Texas Rednecks
The Cowboys took the win with a double bulldog out of the corneron Psychosis.

--It was announced that country recording superstar Chad Brockwill be performing on Nitro in two weeks.

--Miss Madness was in the back sulking, not believing that she got fired, and now, she is just Mona. Madusa basically told her to quit feeling sorry for herself. Madusa then said that she would beat Mona at Road Wild. Madusa then convinced Mona that Gorgeous George was behind the two of them getting fired, because Randy Savage did want them to be a team. Madusa then said they would take care of George, but was still going to beat Mona andeveryone else up.

Vampiro w/Insane Clown Possee versus Rey Mysterio Jr.
Vampiro had a chance to win this match after hitting Rey with hisnail in the coffin, but opted to climb the ropes. Rey also climbed the ropes and attempted a top rope frankensteiner, but with the help of the ICP, Vampiro turned it into a monstrous powerbomb off the top. The three began attacking the cruiserweight champ, until Eddy Guerrero made the save. ICP then said they didnt come to wave their hands and to rock and roll,but to kick some a$$.
Winner: Rey Mysterio Jr. via disqualification

Vincent w/Horace versus Stevie Ray
After a double team move that went wrong, Ray hit Vincent with the slapjack (weapon) and then with the flapjack. Bryan Adams attempted to get to the ring, but was cut off by Booker T wielding a chair as the crowd chanted Harlem Heat.
Winner: Stevie Ray via pinfall

--Mene Gene stood outside the dressing room of Hollywood Hogan to ask him about the partner situation when Sting walked into Hogans lockerroom.

--Sting introduced himself to the crowd in Memphis as thepresident of the United States. He said he knew he would have alot of big decisions to make beginning with deciding if he should be Hogans tag team partner. Hollywood then hit the ring. Hollywood said alot has changed including himself, and told Sting that he could be trusted and asked the prez for one chance to prove himself. Sting agreed to be Hogans partner but told Hogan, "if you screw me...I'll get ya"

--Jason Hervey joined the broadcast team. He basically said thatRobert Wuhl was horrible on Nitro and that the best part of Arli$$ on HBO was that Eric Bischoff was on the show. (Of course,he blew his own horn for several minutes.)

Lash Leroux versus Prince Iaukea
This match did not last long as Randy Savage stormed the ring andattacked both competitors. He then told Nash, Hogan, and Rodman that he ruled wrestling and that he has not even "begun". Miss Madness and Madusa then came out pleading their case that they were team players and that George is who was putting him up to firing them. George, who was walking away from Madusa ran right into Dennis Rodman who took her and ran backstage with her. Savage chased after the Worm.
Winner: Match thrown out

--In the back, the Macho Man was kicking in every door in theMid-South coliseum looking for Rodman and George.

--It was announced that Kiss will be performing live on NitroAugust 23.

--Mene Gene was preparing to interview someone when Goldberg made a surprise appearance. Goldberg said that it was convenient that Hennig made a challenge to him on Thunder when he was 2,000 miles away. He then told Hennig "YOURE NEXT".

Evan Karageous versus The Cat w/Sonny Onoo
After telling the youngster that he was a killer, The Cat goated Karageous into shaking his hand and then sucker punched him. The Cat attempted to go into his briefcase and retrieve the red ruby slippers but instead found pink bunny slippers. Buff, standing on the rampway showed The Cat that he had his red shoes. As the Cat was preoccupied with Buff, young Karageous rolled the Cat up from behind for the upset victory. After the bell, the Cat attackedKarageous and chased after Buff.

Mikey Whipwreck versus Steve Regal w/Dave Taylor
During this match, Jimmy Hart and his boys grabbed a mic and told the Englishmen that if they wanted the hardcore trophy to go to Road Wild and take it from the first family. Regal won this matchup with the Regal Stretch after Taylor nailed Whipwreck inthe back of the head with the Union Jack.

--Mene Gene interviewed U.S. chump.....I mean champ, David Flair.After attempting to emulate his father, the younger Flair said that "To be the man...you gotta beat the man" and told Chris Benoit that he was the "man" tonight. David also told Mene Gene that beating Benoit was as easy as 1-2-3.

--Randy Savage found Gorgeous George who was missing part of her dress. Savage then went on a rampage, searching for Rodman. He finally found the Worm in one of the production trailers. Security kept Savage from getting in, but Rodman threw part of Georges dress at Savage, which just fueled the fire.

--In a personal (pretaped) interview, Shane Douglas said that he came back to WCW to stand by his friends such as Saturn, Chris Benoit, and Dean Malenko. He said that they are some of the best that wrestling has to offer and he knows that they wont stab him in the back. He said that the wrestlers know of the genuine heat that he and Flair have with each other and that he is living the best time of his career, preparing to move the cancer (Flair) from WCW. Douglas said that Flair has surrounded himself thinking that Douglas would never come back to WCW. After that statement,Douglas looked at the camera and began laughing.

Curt Hennig w/West Texas Rednecks versus Goldberg
At one point, the Rednecks provided a diversion so that Hennig could hit the "man" with a cowbell. Kendall and Barry Windham and Duncum Jr. attempted to help Hennig, but were all speared, courtesy of Goldberg. Hennig then entered the ring with a chair, but quickly got out of the ring when Goldberg stood in his face. The referee then called for the bell. While on the outside, Goldberg spit on Hennig, which brought him back into the ring. As quickly as he came in, Goldberg threw him out just asquickly.
Winner: Goldberg via disqualification

Patty Stone Grinder versus Madusa
Stone Grinder dominated this match, but Madusa came back strongto win with a bridge German suplex.

Scott Putski versus Shane Douglas
The Pittsburgh Plunge ( a combination cradle suplex/brainbuster) made Douglas' redebut in WCW a successful one.

Chris Benoit versus David Flair w/Torrie Wilson and Aysa
As expected, Benoit was tearing the younger Flair apart. Davidtried to walk away, but referee Charles Robinson would not allow it, saying "Get back in the ring, you are a Flair!" Flair was tapping out to the boston crab, but Robinson refused to call for the bell. Benoit then had the crippler crossface applied, but as Robinson acted as if he had something in his eye, Diamond Dallas Page waffled Benoit with one of the tag team belts, rolled Flair on top of Benoit, thus, the charade continues. The other members of the Triad then attacked. Saturn, Malenko, and Shane Douglas then entered and cleared the ring.

Rick Steiner versus Chase Tatum
The dogfaced Gremlin smashed the call of the no limit soldierswith a bulldog off the top rope.

Hollywood Hogan/Sting versus Sid Vicous/Kevin Nash
The referee went down in this match as Sid pulled him in front of a Stinger splash. Rick Steiner made his presence known as he whacked Sting with a chair and tripped up Hollywood Hogan. Nash then splintered Hogan in the head with the chair and covered Hogan for the pinfall. Goldberg attempted to help, but received three chair shots from Steiner.
