Steve Austin at this point is in the beginning stages of rehabilitation on his neck but it could well over a year for him to retur n to in-ring action. Steve Austin has begun to walk on a treadmill and his surgeon Dr. Lloyd Youngblood has told reporters that he is happy and a bit shocked at the recovery rate Steve Au stin is going but stresses that he must not return earlier than necessary. Dave Meltzer reports that Steve Austin is telling friends that he will be ready to return in three months but others are telling him to wait six to twelve months to avoid any re-injury of his neck. Steve Austin this evening called made a brief appeara nce on the WWF radio show to talk about his surgery and took questions from fans. He stayed in character for the interview but did talk about his upcoming rehabilitat ion at length. WWF+working+with+Bert+Prentice > Changes to the World Wrestling Federation develop mental system continues as the company has came to a agreement with Bert Prentice that will allow him to use the talent for NWA Worldwide television tapings and spot shows if he books other dates. The addition of Bert Prentice to use developmental talent comes they gradually shift talent from Randy Hales Power Pro Wrestling group over to Jerry Lawlers new Memphis Championship Wrestling. Reports are Jim Cornette is not happy with the move as he is good friends and has worked for years with the owner of Power Pro Wrestling, Randy Hales. The move was sited because of a lack of spot shows ran in the last months of 1999. Jim Cornette at this point from all indications should remain as a on air talent with the company. With the addition of Bert Prentice and soon to be Victor Quinones IWA promotion in Peurto Rico, this will make available four promotions to allow talent to work in as MCW begins on January 26 with the first television taping and Danny Davis continues with his Ohio Valley Wrestling. Changes in talent are also in the process as some are being re-assigned to gain more experience while others will be moved out. The working ideas reports Wade Keller is to go with Bret Hart and Sid in the main event with the world title involved, Jeff Jarrett and Kidman with the US title involved and Ric Flair/ Terry Funk working with Kevin Nash and Scott Hall. The tag team match at this point is not booked as Ric Flair and Scott Hall are not booked into any long range pans for the company. Dave Meltzer reports that both have been mentioned to be in attendance for this weeks edition of television but no plans are set. Ric Flairs attorney, John Taylor had been in meetings last week with WCW management and at one point the two sides had come close to a agreement that would have seen Flair back on television but plans fell through. Thunder+rating > World Championship Wrestling slid back in the ratings after making a significant jump in the ratings with their first permanent Wednesday night broadcast of Thunder. The show did a composite rating of 2.3 for the evening. Dave Meltzer reports that the show fell as the evening went on and did a 2.0 rating for its main event tag team match. OTHER NEWS (ECW, JAPAN, INDEPENDENT, AND MORE) Dusty+Rhodes+agrees+to+work+dates+ > Dusty Rhodes and Extreme Championship Wrestling have agreed to terms that will have him with the company for the short term future as they do a three show sweep through the state of Florida next week. Hopes report Wade Keller are that attendance for the shows will increase as Rhodes has a long history with Florida wrestling fans. WXO+bringing+in+AJPW+wrestlers > The latest promotion to try to take itself onto a national level, WXO wrestling has announced on their weekly syndicated broadcast that they will be bringing in Johnny Ace and Mike Barton from All Japan Pro Wrestling. World Wrestling Federation fans will remeber Barton as Bart Gunn. The company premiered its show two weeks ago and has its show syndicated in most major markets. It has a vast listing of television chann els on its website, WXO.com that carry its show. Shows that are being broadcast now were taped over a month ago in Lakeland, Florida. The next set of tapings are scheduled for the end of January as they do four days of tapings at Universal Studios in Florida. Schedules for the tapings are: January 27th 1, 3 and 4:30 January 28th 11:30, 1, 3 and 4:30 January 29th 11:30, 1, 3 and 4:30 January 30th 11:30, 1, 3 and 4:30 WXO is based out of Florida and is being run in part by Ted DiBiase and Renee Goulet. The company is a made up of many wrestlers from the South Eastern region of the United States and have many wrestlers that were released in the last few months by Bill Busch to cut back the expenses of the company.
