April 1963- The WWWF(World Wide Wrestling Federation) is formed. Buddy Rogers is its first champ and Bruno Sammartino wins the WWWF title a month later. January 1971- After holding the belt for an amazing seven years, Sammartino lose the belt to Ivan Koloff. April 1976- Stan Hansen drops Sammartino on his neck and breaking it during a match. Sammartino continues the match. April 1977- Billy Graham deafeats Sammartino for the WWWF title. Inspires future wrestlers such as Hulk Hogan and Jesse Ventura April 1979- The WWWF drops one W and becomes the WWF(World Wrestling Federation) August 1979- In a cross frderation match (which aren’t shown today), Bob Backlund of the (WWF) takes on AWA Champ Nick Bockwinkel. Both are counted out after about 40 minutes. June 1982- Vince McMahon Jr. buys out his father’s share in the WWF. The modern era of “sports entertainment” begins. September 1983- Vince McMahon negotiates a deal with the USA Network to broadcast WWF matches. November 1983- The WWF signs top stars such as Hulk Hogan, Bobby Heenan, Gene Okerlund, and Roddy Piper. January 1984- Hulk Hogan beats the Iron Sheik to win the title. Hulk-amania is born. May 1984- Cyndi Lauper and Mr.T sign to appear at Wrestlemania 1. Hulk Hogan appears on MTV. March 1985- The first Wrestlenania happens. Mr T. and Hulk deafeat Roddy Piper and Paul Orndorff. May 1985- The TV Saturday Night Main event forms. Spetember 1985- Hulk Hogan Rock N Wrestling appears on Saturday Morning cartoons. Airs for almost two years. November 1985- The first WWF Pay-Per-View airs ( WWF Wrestling Classic) Its a success. March 1987- Wrestlemania 3 draws 93,000 to the Superdome in Houston. Andre The Giant loses to Hogan in the main event. Hogan body slammed the Giant also. May 1987- Iron Sheik and Hacksaw Jim Dugan are arrested for drugs. Both careers take a dive. November 1987- First Survior Series pay-Per-View airs. Andre wins in the main event. January 1988- First Royal Rumble airs. Jim Duggan wins in the shorest Rumble only 33 minutes long. October 1988- Forbes magazine estimates the WWF worth 100 million. April 1990- Hogan loses the belt to the Ulimate Warrior at Wrestlemania 6. November 1990- The Undertaker makes his debut at Survivor Series along with a chicken named the Gobbledygooker. The crowd boos and the lame persona is dropped. June 1991- George Zahorian, a ringside doctors is accused of 12 counts of selling steroids to wrestlers. A drug policy is quickly pasted. July 1992- Macho Man admits to taking steroids in the past in a live interview. January 1993- Monday Night Raw debuts. June 1993- The First King of the Ring sirs with Bret Hart winning and Hulk Hogan losing the belt to Yokozuna. November 1993- Vince McMahon is chraged with steroid possession. June 1994- Hulk Hogan leaves WWF to go to WCW. ( He was getting to old) November 1994- Bob backound defeats Bret Hart for the title and loses it to Diesel three days later. Late 1995 - Stone Cold Steve Austin signs with the WWF and comes out with Ted Dibiase as the Ringmaster. April 1996- Mick Foley debuts on Raw. June 1996- Stone Cold defeats Jake the Snake in the King of the Ring. Austin 3:16 begins. November 1996- The Rock debuts at Survivor Series. November 1996- Brian Pillman pulls a gun on Stone Cold. Leds to negative publicity. WWF apologizes. August 1997- Stone Cold is seriously injured by a Owen Hart piledriver. He would go in for spinal surgery in 2000. October 1997- Kane makes his debut during a hell in a cell match with Undertaker and HBK November 1997- DX officially forms with Chyna Shawn Michaels and HHH as the first members November 1997- Bret Hartmakes his final appearance in the WWF. At the end Bret would go to use some unscripted actions-bad language, push Vince McMahon down and destoy WWF equipment June 1998- The best match in WWF History- The Mick Foley Undertaker hell in a cell match. Mick would thrown off the cage and throught cage, on to thumbtacks and tomstoned on chairs. He would suffer many injuries. November 1998- Jesse Ventura is elected governor of Minnesota May 1999- Owen Hart falls to his death from the ceiling during a stunt. June 1999- Sable quits WWF and sues for $110 million August 1999- Jesse Ventura makes a guest referee appearance at Summerslam November 1999- Stephanie McMahon marries HHH December 1999- Daveswwfpage starts at maxpages January 2000- Daveswwfpage is changed to Wrestle 2000 which is a bigger success February 2000- Mick Foley loses a Hell in a Cell match and retires April 2000- Mick Foleys comes back 1 more time at WM2000 I will add more if anymore major events happen |
