STAND-UP WRESTLING:
Stand-Up Wrestling is the first style learned by people who want to be ranked in the complete system of Wrespon Kickboxing.
OBJECT: to remain standing, while making your opponent fall to the ground.
"STANDING" = touching the ground with only your feet.
"FALLEN" = touching the ground with anything other than your feet.
FOULS:
*Striking
*Biting
*Throwing your opponent directly onto his/her neck/head
*Dislocating an opponent's joint
*Grabbing opponents uniform
*Hair pulling
IF YOU GRAB YOUR OPPONENT'S CLOTHES, YOUR OPPONENT GETS 1 POINT.
ALL OTHER FOULS WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFICATION.
Sometimes STANDING submissions are allowed, but only if BOTH contestants agree and are of sufficient rank with submission wrestling experience.
START POSITION:
*Opponents face each other, in the center of the ring.
*Right hand on opponent's left shoulder, Left hand on opponent's right elbow.
SCORING:
Each time your opponent falls, you get 1 point, UNLESS you foul your opponent, or, both of you fall simaltaneously (in this case, NO ONE scores). Even if you are not touching your opponent, and he/she simply loses balance, you get 1 point. Matches are usually either 5 minutes (usual tournament practice), or 3 points (usual training practice).
GEAR:
*Cup (males)
*Sport bra (females)
*Pants, knee-length or longer. Snug around waist, and either baggy or stretchy in the legs to allow for maximum flexibility.
*Pullover shirt
*Single mouthpiece (a double mouthpiece restricts the breathing too much and is not advised).
*Breath-Right Strips are a recommended option.
