Stand-Up Fighting is the third style learned by WRESPON students.
Stand-Up Fighting is basically a combination of Stand-Up Wrestling and kickboxing.
OBJECT: Knock down your opponent, while you remain standing. Legal techniques derive from both Stand-Up Wrestling and Kickboxing, but, vary depending on whether you compete in the HIGH-GEAR or LOW-GEAR category.
HIGH-GEAR = Cobra Chop Gloves or Kempo Gloves, Full Body Guard & Head Guard with Face Cage. Also, a cup (males), sport bra (females), and a single mouth-piece (everyone). "Breath Right" nasal strips are also allowed and recommended. See "GEAR SUPPLIERS".
LOW-GEAR = A cup (males), sport bra (females), and a mouthpiece (everyone).
In HIGH-GEAR, all striking techniques are allowed, including not only kicking and punching, but, also, kness, elbows, and head-butts. All techniques allowed in Stand Up Wrestling are allowed in Stand Up Fighting.
In LOW-GEAR, kicks and punches are the only striking techniques allowed. NO KNEES, ELBOWS, or HEAD-BUTTS are allowed! Also, in LOW-GEAR, the HEAD, NECK, and SPINE are OFF LIMITS for striking techniques.
OTHER FOULS: High Gear & Low Gear -- no foot stomping, and no kicking a person who is down (that is, touching the ground with anything other than their feet).
As in Stand-Up Wrestling, when your opponent falls, while you remain standing, you recieve a point. If you both fall, then neither one of you recieves a point.
START POSITION: Opponents start from opposite sides of the ring.
