Day and Night Devotions

NEW! Poetry and Doll Maker with Galleries!     [Learn About Our Ecommerce]

Each day and each night I devote some time to thanking the gods and goddesses for all their love and insperation. Here is how I do this.

-Day Devotion-
1 stick incence of any kind (I use cinnamon and Honey most of the time, but sometimes i use Water.), in a burn and heat resistant holder (clay is the best.)
4 candles formed into a triangle (one candle in the center of the triangle.). The triangle is a well known power sign.
Small tumbled crystals spread all over altar/table
A large crystal in each corner of the table/altar
Your chosen power structure (mine is a large knife)
Incence should be on the right side, close to the edge of the table/altar.
Knife should be close to the edge of the side you are standing on, but not close enough to touch if leaning over.
Candles should be Oranges, Reds, Yellows, White, Blacks, Greens, and Lavendars.
I personally always have a number of candles burning when i am home, so this rule applies for candles you are burning off of the altar/table.
The top point candle should be a white taper and if possible in a holder with a sun face. The center candle should be a pillar, and the 2 bottom corner candles should be small, one time use, tapers, if possible in crystal or glass holders.
Stay close to your altar in thought for at least 15 minutes, then go about your business. If you are leaving the room, check on candles every 15 minutes. The day Devotion is done when the small, one time use, tapers are melted all the way down, wich normally takes 1 - 3 hours. USE A SNUFFER when putting out the pillar and standard taper candles. ALWAYS use a wooden match or something wooden (maybe a lovely stick), to light ALL candles. Incense can be lit from anything.

-Night Devotion-

The Night Devotion is exaactly the same as the Day Devotion, except for the colors of candles. Use Purples, blues, greens, lavenders, blacks, DARK reds, and whites. The top point candle should be a purple or blue and in a holder with a moon face if possible. Incence must be the same as from the Day Devotion unless you have run out. If that happens, pick another incence that matches the type of the other. Spicy=Spicy, Mild=Mild, Floral=Floral, and so-on.

There must always be a white candle and a black candle in each devotion. White will amplify the effects of all the others, and Black will add power to the Devotion.
All Pillar candles should have something to sit in. Wax is not that easy to scrape off of a table. I learned that the hard way *laughing*.
Some people like to cast a circle when doing devotions. I find this unnessasary. If you do not want to cast a circle, but Do want to do some action to increase energy, try dancing around to hard music, singing, chanting, any exersize, and i have heard some couples use sexual activity to increase energy in devotions and rituals. Again, none of this is a nessesity.
