MY COMMENTS: Miliando is initially known as Zechs Merquise, a bloody and special ace pilot of the OZ corps, the military group responsible for confronting the Gundams. He is an extremely talented pilot who rivals Heero in ability and strength. His extraordinary piloting skills earned him the nickname: "THE LIGHTNING BARON". It was later revealed that Zechs was leading a double life. He was in fact Miliando Peacecraft, heir to the anti-war Peacecraft kingdom.
His conscience finally caughts up with him, and thus he decided to achieve peace. However, he believes that the only way to aquire peace was through violence and war, "a war to end all wars." He thus became the leader of the "WHITE FANG", a group determined to annihilate Earth completely and free the space colonies. The "WHITE FANG" becomes the enemies of the Gundams. He is perhaps the villain of the series. Miliando is a person with good intentions, but with bad effects. The story becomes even more complex as his sister, Relena developes a strong relationship with his arch-enemy, Heero Yuy.
For the fans of the original Gundam series (ie Perfect One Year War, Zeta Gundam etc..), Zechs is basically an exact replica of the one and only Char Anzable (one of the coolest anime characters who had ever appeared in a Gundam series). Reasons for this? Well they both "appear" to be the enemy is the series, both are masked in a similar manner, both are Ace Pilots and "lighting baron" just sounds too similar to "red comet" eh? I know this claim is going to cause heaps of contraversy... but hey that's my opinion and I know many others that agree with me. I'm not taking anything away from Gundam Wing, its one of my all time favourites..... but nothing beats the orginal Gundam: Perfect One Year War & the tragedy of ZETA Gundam.
