Below are five poems written by the same author, Sandwoman:

-------------------------

Apollo forgotten

The airs around your pretty face make your heart hidden from me,
And the stars in your eyes are too bright for me to see.
Would your life's perfect puzzle make room for a piece of me?
But oh…. above me you go and to my next fate my heart I throw.
I live without your love and feel I shall never die
For I can taste sweeter things than tears to cry.
I'm still searching and will for a while
For someone other than me that brings a glow to my smile
Someone laugh with me and to this end let me call them in my soul a friend.

-------------------------

Shavings of Time

I see light ebb at the grains of sand which mark my time
Swiftly swirl through the hourglass' grip.
As I wait I gather from stars the light they drip
And drink it with the dew a brew of my own kind.
Breathe this day's scent deep and let it mingle with your heart.
Taste moments like snowflakes from frigid fay
Close your eyes to see a moment and play
Scatter glances and precious time for everyone a part
For how soon shall the mound of sand at the base of the glass end with my dust and ash?

-------------------------

The Tempest

Here I rest after one more trial,
Here I hope after one more heartbreak,
And I strum my guitar with no plan in mind,
Only wishes to evade the storm from my past,
I… am so lost after losing all I ever hoped to find.
And my soul oh… I try to dull the ache,
After the morning sun has risen enough to lift my spirits
I shall try to face the storm that haunts my path,
In life I have promise
In time I have healing
In rest I have dreams
But with all this I still hide till the storm memories glide by,
For this lingering tempest has the bluest eyes I've ever seen.

-------------------------

Skin and bones

Why can I see your jagged frame through that calloused skin?
Life has brought you to this state so it may shatter you against the rocks.
But don't step in the deeps, a moment's pleasure will swirl to storms,
Why does your heart ache?
Perhaps it is stone in your chest, petrified by doubt.
How can you be like this, surrounded by those pointing to a way out?
You keep your own prison and play your own guard,
You let the guillotine slide between your fingers to silence the screams,
Sorrowful Lingering Lonelyness lulls your soul to sleep.
While God and angels weep.

-------------------------

Pomegranate Seeds

Hades' kisses and pomegranate seeds.
So sweet- so lovely- so brief
But keeping me in Hell.
Drain my pleasure from a cup of grief
Back and forth I slide
Modern day Persephone.
Mother keep me,
Hades hold me,
I fear eternal winter's burial shroud.
Where?
Here the heart- and the frost out there.
