Chris Benoit defeats Jeff Jarrett in a Ladder Match* 12/19/99 - Washington DC
* Due to injury Scott Hall is unable to defend the title against Benoit at Starrcade. Benoit recieves the title by default and successfully defends it against a late chosen opponent.

Scott Hall defeats Goldberg, Sid Vicious and Bret Hart 11/8/99 - Indiannapolis, IN
4-Way, Texas-Tornado, Ladder Match with special referee Kevin Nash.

11/01/99 Bret Hart vacted the title and attempted to return the belt to Goldberg. After watching the tape of their match he realized his victory was tainted by outside interference. Before being able to return the belt Hart was attacked by Sid Vicious and the Outsiders - Scott Hall and Kevin Nash. Scott Hall stole the belt but was not aknowledged as champion.
