This is the ever increasing genealogy of the Ward Family tree. It begins with the birth of Melgia Ward in 1820 in the Carolinas and expands with his marriage to Loucinda Hartley in Crawford County, Georgia in 1844. Loucinda and Melgia had three children before Loucinda apparently passed away. He then married Louisa Dickson and after her death, Mary Margaret Malisha King. With these three wives he sired ten children. He was an overseer before the Civil War and after a farm manager. He went on to own large amounts of land in Dooly County. When he died his own young children were living with him as well as his grandchildren in southwest Dooly county. We have just begun to scratch the surface of this vast history and have many unanswered questions, such as--what is the origin of the name Melgia? Where did Melgia come from? Who were his parents?

There is a high degree of probality he was related to Andrew Jackson WARD of Dooly county. Were they related? Our questions go on and on. We would love to have some help so please share with us via the e-mail below.

So far our genealogy includes the surnames: Hartley, Peavy, Pennington, Tucker, Folds, Raines, Sentell, King, Odom, Carpenter, Hall and Smith and many more.

Sorry ahead of time for any errors in the information.
