One time Sun Ray, the goddess of Day, was shining down upon the earth thinking. She was tired of continuously shining her magnificent ligh down upon the earth, and she needed a break. Sun Ray decided to create night, and call her Velvett Sky. This goddess would have a long black cape that she would drape over the earth to put it to sleep. The earth couldn't be black totally, though, so she would have a moon and stars to light it up a bit. Sun Ray gathered mud, water, glitter and honey to make Velvett Sky. THe mud and water were for her cape, the glitter was the stars and the honey would be the moon. Sun Ray however, could not bring Velvett Sky to life herself, she needed the help of Tarus, the Tree of Life. Sun Ray set off to the land of Zulmar to opay a visit to Tarus.

Tarus promised to give Velvett Sky life if there was a trade. All of Sun Ray's personal belongings were to porecious to give up so she promised Tarus one quarter of Velvett Sky's moon each day. Sun Ray had made the moon ever-existant so that the moon would reapear in dull after being totally taken away. Tarus agreed to the trade and gave Velvett Sky life.

Sun Ray took Velvett Sky back to a cave in Surwood forest that would be her home. Sun Ray immediately set Velvett Sky to work, and Sun Ray went to sleep until it would be her turn to take over again. Velvett Sky flew up into the air and draped her long, flowing cape over the earth. The thousands of stars gazed downward with such beauty and the moon shone proudly above, glimmering down upon the world below. The cape hadn't a ripple in it. The black velvet hung blissfull above everything, setting the world at rest until the time came to awaken.

Sun Ray awoke and rose up to Velvett Sky, motioning her to rest. Velvett Sky retreated to her cave as Sun Ray awakened the earth and its beauty. She shone high above the sky, her blissful ilght shimmering.

As Velvett Sky slept in the cave of Shurwood, awaiting her time to take-over the skies, Tarus crept in to take his portion of the trade. With that he tore off one quarter of Velvett Sky's moon.

Sun Ray awakened Velvett Sky, for it was time for night, and time to put the world at rest. Velvett Sky onece again draped her dark cape over the world below. It was different this time, though, for there was only three quarters of her moon left.

For three days after that Tarus returned to take another quarter of the moon. When he had taken the last quarter, the moon reapered again in full, as the new moon or full moon. This continued forever. This is how night and the moon cycle were originated.
