Until just a couple of years ago, I never had the
slightest idea that there are other Turla's in
the world besides me and those I left behind in
my native land. Thanks to modern technology, I
have been able to discover other Turla's in
cyberspace! Come to think of it! For 60 years,
I never thought that there were other people
sharing my last name! But my introduction to
computers enabled me to widen my horizon.
Whenever I surf the internet, out of curiousity,
I search for Turla's. And that's what led me into
creating this website which I warmly dedicate to
all those who share the family name TURLA. I've
also created a discussion group for all Turlas at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Turla-surname It will
be the coffee shop where all Turlas can hang out,
or can gather together and share stories over a

Through research, I have been able to find out
that there are Turla families in Switzerland, Latvia,
Lithuania, Poland, Belgium, Holland, France, Romania,
Hungary, Germany, Austria, Italy, Bosnia, Croatia, Denmark,
Sweden, Turkey, Russia, India, Cuba, the Philippines,
Canada and the U.S.
I have found out too that Turla is a first name used in
Ireland, Scotland and Sweden. It is a word (a common noun)
in Rumanian and in Turkish and in Icelandic languages.

According to CBN, Turla is the 59,543rd most popular
last name in the United States - very far behind "Smith" and
"Johnson" which are number one and number two respectively.
