TODAY IS BEAUTIFUL, BECAUSE TODAY, WE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO GIVE AND RECEIVE LOVE 1---1000 DEATHS A famous lecturer teaches that a coward dies one thousand deaths because he thinks of death often, and that a brave person dies only once because he never thinks about such things. I wonder if it is more likely to be the other way around. The truly brave person gets past the discomfort of thinking of death often, and allows his or her life to be shaped in a mature, healthy, and positive way by that awareness. 2---PLEASANT WORDS The truth is only welcome when it is pleasing to the ears. There is a saying-- “Do not speak to me the truth, speak to me pleasant words, prophesy illusions” 3---HALLMARK CARD What does a Presidential speech and a Hallmark Card have in common? 4---A LIE IS BORN We all lie to ourselves and then we lie to each other. The conscious mind thinks it needs to know something in order to believe in it. We select a belief that sounds good to us and then we convince ourselves that belief is fact. Now we can lie with a clear conscience. When confronted at this point it can be uncomfortable for us because we've got to manipulate the subconscious mind in order to protect our lie, a lot depends on not allowing it to be exposed. The foundation of our lives is built upon this very tiny, elusive deception. We must protect it and never let it be exposed as the lie/truth that it is, we have merged the two into one. We have learned how to lie with a clear conscience. We feel our intentions are good and that is how we justify continuing on this path but we have been deceived by those who have been deceived. Turning our backs on this deception does not serve our God, ( for those who believe) nor does it serve the greater good, (for those who do not believe). The truth will set us free, it is time that we stop fearing it. It is time that we allow the course of life on this planet to go as it should have been allowed from the beginning, unhindered by our biases and insecurities, unhindered by our fear of having to lesson our grip on a pet belief system that cannot pass a polygraph test. 5----POLYGRAPH TEST Some people choose to believe in ghosts, god, bigfoot, power from crystals, creatures from space, and many other things. Many of these people would pass a polygraph test if they were asked if they really believe in these things. But I think you would find that a lot fewer people would pass the polygraph test if the question was--- Do you know, with 100 percent certainty, that any of these things exist or do not exist? All any of us have, are opinions, just as I admit everything I am saying is just my opinion. But even though all we have are opinions, right or wrong, we still need to decide what we want to believe in and we need to admit it is just our opinion. If truth matters, and I think it does, we need to admit it is just a opinion. 6---FEW OR NONE, LOOKING FOR TRUTH Few, or none of us, are really looking for the truth. We are only looking for things that will support what we have already chosen to believe. We will spend the rest of our lives doing this and teaching others to do the same thing. 7---TEACH THE CHILDREN We teach our children to be materialistic, we teach them that our worth is determined by what we do for a living. We teach them that our worth is determined by what we can afford and what we own. We teach them that the people that don’t have as much as we do, are a lower class. Most of the kids will accept this teaching or non teaching, and will conform, but there will always be some, that at least on a subconscious level, will feel that our current system is flawed and they will sometimes find disturbing and destructive ways to express their dissatisfaction. 8---BRAINWASHED All people can be brainwashed, and all of us probably are, at least in some areas. We would not know it , and we probably wouldn't admit that it is possible. We would deny it ,and resent the thought of it. We accept traditions and traditional beliefs without thoroughly examining them, this is a mistake. 9---LIES All of us lie. We lie to ourselves first ,and then we lie to each other. The best defense we have against this problem is to admit it can happen, and once we admit it ,we can try to be more honest with ourselves. 10---ADVERTISERS STOOP TO ANY LEVEL Some advertisers will stoop to any level in order to sell their product. They will flatter us to appeal to our egos. They will lead us to believe that we are better than others because of what we own. They will generate greed and promote materialism. These things are tearing our world apart. We have lost the ability to discern between what is healthy and what is not? We are pawns on a chessboard, we are gullible, manipulated victims. We have been caught-up in this current for a long time, do we have it within us to break away from it’s powerful, destructive pull ?? 10 A---ADVERTISERS / IS GREED THE AMERICAN WAY ??? Are Commercials that insult someone else’s product in order to sell their own, demonstrating the American way? Is that form of Marketing something that we can be proud of?? Is money so important to us that hurting another business is a acceptable practice?? 10 B--- ADVERTISERS / CELEBRITY ENDORSEMENTS Celebrities are paid to endorse products that they have seldom or never used, deceiving us into believing that product is what made them successful. Is there no shame ? 10 C---ADVERTISERS / WE HAVE A VOICE We do have a voice, we do not have to sit and quietly watch the last of decency fade away. We can e-mail companies and advertisers and let them know how we feel. 11---The reality of death is more real than our perception of life is accurate. 12---ADVICE FROM OTHERS Sometimes growth can only be achieved by bringing up uncomfortable topics. *** "I don't do it for glory or recognition, I do it because if I don't, no one else will, and I don't do it even if no one knows or will ever know".--- Super girls quote *** The world can be a frightening place, the challenge is to try to stay sane. Don't always dwell on the heavy, disturbing things. Try to just enjoy life sometimes. 13---GOD, OR THE PERFECT PARENT Here is what I concocted as what I would like God to be. I would like to think of God as the perfect parent. This perfect parent could be female or male. The perfect parent wants for the children to grow up happy and strong, but the perfect parent wants also that the children learn to be patient, kind, loving, honest, understanding, slow to anger, quick to forgive, humble. The perfect parent wants us to develop these characteristics because all of the children on the planet are equally valuable and deserve equal respect and in developing these traits, we will be more likely to be treating each other with that value and respect. This perfect parent doesn't care if I am a girl or a boy and doesn't care what color my skin is. All children are equal in value to the perfect parent. It is my guess also, that if we develop the above traits, we would have a greater potential for happiness and a greater potential in moving forward in all areas of our lives. 14---HONEST JOBS There are not enough honest jobs on our planet to support the world population. So of course, people will continue to seek and perform jobs that are less than honorable. Many of our children will have little choice but to compromise their values in order to make a living. 15---THE ECONOMY / OUR CULTURE We are a culture that always needs to have more material things in order for us to be happy. We gladly accept anything that will stimulate the economy and we do not care whether or not it is honest or healthy. We are short sighted and money driven, we do not care to look at the long term effects of our materialistic attitudes. 15a---THE ECONOMY / MARKETING STRATEGIES As it is, even companies that produce or offer legitimate products or services (because of greed and materialism) often resort to dishonest, deceptive, and manipulative, sales practices. 16---THE TRUTH THEORY If we can learn how to be truthful within difficult topics such as religion, science, and politics, we will all benefit. Sometimes these difficult areas do not seem important enough to warrant being concerned about absolute honesty, but learning how to be honest in these areas will pave the way for increased honesty in other areas of our lives as well. We will grow, we will benefit, we will move forward. Our families will benefit, the world will benefit. We have tried everything else to improve our lives, maybe it is time that we try a little harder to be humble and honest within the more challenging areas. It’s worth a try. 17---ATMOSPHERE OF DECLINE We have created a atmosphere that is conducive for lies to be born within our subconscious mind. It is a atmosphere that allows a lack of awareness, a lack of concern, a lack of responsibility. A lack of integrity thrives in this environment. 18---STEP OF FAITH One of the greatest steps of faith we can take is to define what absolute truth is and endeavor to practice it. 19---CRUX OF THE MATTER Anything that cannot be proven is nothing more than a opinion. 20---ADVANCING THE HUMAN RACE Unfortunately for all of us, we often mistakenly believe we are raising the bar when in fact, we are lowering our morals. Especially in the entertainment industry, we believe we’re raising the bar or pushing the envelope, when we push sex, violence, and offensive language and behavior to it’s next level. We take pride in this alleged progress. We are not moving forward as we believe, we are causing further moral deterioration which will only lead to greater confusion and problems for all of us. 21---THE SEARCH In our search for the truth, let us not be influenced by what is easiest to believe. 22---DIFFERENT LADDERS There are different ladders, with different steps, each leading, to a different height. The steps we choose, will lead us to, that which we gambled, was right. IS IT POSSIBLE ?? Could it be that there is one belief system that has greater heuristic potential than all others?? What would it be?? 23---THE ILLUSIVE CARROT The illusive carrot, always just out of reach. If I can just hang in there long enough, that carrot will be mine. But over 40 of your friends and acquaintances died before they got the carrot, yes but that won’t happen to me, I’ll be one of the ones who succeed. But didn’t all of them say that same thing? Your right, maybe I should re-think this through for my self, on my own. Do I really need all of these traditional things? I’ve been led to believe that I do, but if I didn’t need all of this stuff, the illusive carrot could be mine a lot sooner. I heard there are two ways to be rich, earn more or desire less. Could this be true? But would people think less of me if I didn’t need all of these traditional things? I heard that truly evolved and sophisticated people don’t judge others based on how much they own or how prestigious their jobs are. Could this be true?? 24---TRYING TO FIND FAULT We often tend to try harder to find fault in what someone is saying than we do in trying to openly and honestly understand them. 25---IF THERE IS THE SLIGHTEST CHANCE that new or different ideas could be valid, then they deserve our consideration. 26---STIFLED POTENTIAL If we are the slightest degree biased in religion, science, race, sex, or anything else, we stifle our full potential on this planet. 27---OPEN TO TRUTH I gladly admit I could be wrong about all that I believe. I do not need to be right about anything but I do need to be open to the truth even if it is untraditional. 28---SOMEONE ELSE’S PAIN One of the biggest problems in the world is that most of us cannot feel someone else’s pain, and we don’t even try to. Yet we have the right to vote on things that influence them. If we could feel their pain, our thinking would change, we would vote differently. 29---TECHNOLOGY We’ve put far greater importance in advancing with technology than we have in advancing with humanity. This imbalance will likely lead to our destruction. 30--- TEST OF INTEGRITY Can we admit we could be wrong about many, or any of the things we believe are facts ?? 31--- EASY ANSWERS We all want answers. The problem is, we want them so badly that we often satisfy ourselves with the first answer that sounds good to us. Often that answer is given to us by someone else who also received it from someone else. Its easier to accept what we've been told, than it is to think everything out for ourselves. The problem is ,when we accept answers from others without analyzing them for ourselves, we are trusting that the originator of that answer is responsible, unbiased, rational, honest and wise. This is often a mistake, a mistake that we may pass from generation to generation for thousands of years. This mistake can prevent us from ever growing beyond our present state of being. If we find errors in answers we previously thought to be accurate, are we emotionally strong enough to acknowledge these errors without our whole world crumbling??Would we have the integrity, strength, and courage, to try to correct our mistakes?? 32--- BETTER LEFT BLANK We all want answers but its better to leave questions unanswered than it is to settle with a non-truth or partial truth. Once we have a answer, whether wrong or right, we tend to stop looking, we've already filled in the blank. How many questions in our lives would have been better off, if they had been left blank? 33--- HONESTY We cannot be honest with each other until we learn how to be honest with ourselves. This may sound simple, but all of us are dishonest with ourselves, at least some of the time. We have biases, we have insecurities and we often are in denial on certain subjects. We often are more interested in being right, than we are in being open to the truth. We tend to be more interested in finding things that support what we have already chosen to believe than we are in heightening our awareness. 34---HELP THE LEADERS LEAD Our leaders and teachers need out help- in schools and in churches all over the world. It is a very big responsibility. We need to find ways to grow. I believe we can make the world a lot better in every way. We need to find new, creative, healthy ideas, and help our teachers find ways of teaching them. The future of the world and our children are at stake. What we currently have is not a sustainable situation. 35--- TRUTH AND HUMILITY Truth, humility, and responsibility. In our search for the truth, let us not be influenced By what is easiest to believe. Are we honest and humble enough to admit that we could be wrong about many of the things that we believe to be true? It is crucial that we grow. The future of the world and our children is at stake. What we currently have is not a sustainable situation. 36---WHETHER OR NOT THERE IS A GOD Whether or not there is a God, I believe there is something unhealthy in a attitude that would make-light of, or joke about such things. Such a attitude demonstrates a arrogant, recklessness, that can only lead to problems. 37--- RESPONSIBLE VOTING When we vote, do we consider what is most fair and considerate for everyone, or just for ourselves? 37a---RESPONSIBLE VOTING Do we vote for the politician who tells us the truth or do we vote for the politician who tells us the pleasant sounding things that we want to hear? 38--- GUEST / INTERVIEWER The guest was asked by the interviewer, “is knowledge good”? The guest thought for a moment and then replied, “No, knowledge makes people arrogant, truth is good because it makes people humble”. ---unknown 39---ACCOMPLISHMENTS ?? People all over the world are taking a bow for their accomplishments, when the truth is, a natural chemical in our brains called serotonin, is largely responsible for our accomplishments. Often those who achieve the most are those who are fortunate enough to have a natural, healthy, amount of serotonin. Most of us do not understand how ignorant, arrogant, and fortunate we are, to have the healthy amount of serotonin that we have. It would be beneficial for the whole world to experience serious depression once every year for 5 minutes. I think the results would be that the whole world would stop what they're doing and not make another move without thinking things out very carefully. 40---INFORMATION / THE SOURCE There is good within all people and all people will say and do good things sometimes. It would be a mistake to reject a idea solely because we do not agree with all of what a person believes. I think that it is safe to say that all of us have adopted ideas that have come from religious and non religious people. When we hear a idea that we like, we seldom stop to think about it’s source, (as to whether or not that idea originated from a Christian or non Christian). Unless we know from where the idea originated, we normally go solely by whether or not we like the sound of it, and that is what we should do, all the while remembering, that in our search for the truth, we should strive to be cautious to not allow ourselves to be influenced by what is easiest to believe. 41---YESTERDAYS HONOR Most of us will do at least some honorable things during our lives. Often these honorable things are mentioned at appropriate times. In a way, we use them as badges to prove our honorable character. It is a mistake for us to believe that yesterdays nobility is proof that we are still that same person. Honor and integrity are things we need to continually work on for the rest of our lives. They can, and often do, slip away unnoticed, and we deceive ourselves by holding up a badge of yesterdays honor, a badge that represents something that no longer exists.
