| WHEN IS IT RIGHT TO INTRODUCE A OPINION AS IF IT WERE A FACT? |
TODAY IS BEAUTIFUL, BECAUSE TODAY, WE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO GIVE AND RECEIVE LOVE
In our lives, we may get one chance to make a significant, positive change for the world. Will we recognize that opportunity? Will we have the wisdom, courage, integrity, and sense of responsibility, to do our part?
There is good within all people within all belief systems but all of us can do better.
ABSOLUTE TRUTH
Absolute truth will pass a polygraph test and is not afraid to take this test.
MATURE ENDEAVORS---
In all of what we do, how much of our endeavors are honest and mature?
1---INDISPUTABLE BELIEF SYSTEM
It has been said that belief systems are good because they give us faith but would it not be even better for all of us, if we cared to pursue a belief system that all of us could agree on, a belief system that would not divide us but bring us together instead, a belief system that none of us would feel compelled to dispute, a belief system that would give us the faith and comfort that we seek and yet be built of nothing but absolute truth (the only truth that can pass a polygraph test).
2---FULL POTENTIAL / WITHIN OR WITH OUT ??
Would it not be a shame for all of us if it turns out that the full potential that all of us seek was within our reach but behind the one door that we were afraid to open, the door of absolute truth. How can building a belief system of absolute truth (the only truth that can pass a polygraph test), not be worth our effort? It has never been attempted but why can?t we be the highly progressive, honest, humble, courageous, and responsible generation that is willing to do what should have been done from the beginning of human life on this planet. Let us strive to make absolute truth the priority that it should have been from the beginning. It is not too late. A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. Let us take that first step and begin to care about absolute truth (the only truth that can pass a polygraph test).
3---THE TRUTH THEORY
If we can learn how to be truthful within difficult topics such as religion, science, and politics, we will all benefit. Sometimes these difficult areas do not seem important enough to warrant being concerned about absolute honesty, but learning how to be honest in these areas will pave the way for increased honesty in other areas of our lives as well. We will grow, we will benefit, we will move forward. Our families will benefit, the world will benefit. We have tried everything else to improve our lives, maybe it is time that we try a little harder to be humble and honest within the more challenging areas. It?s worth a try.
4---SIMILAR TO THE DANIEL QUINN / ISMAEL THEORY
In both theories, it is believed that a change in our attitudes would solve or reduce many world problems. The main difference between these two theories is that I believe that absolute truth, (the only truth that can pass a polygraph test) would tend to humble all of us and cause a change in our attitudes that would benefit the entire world. I believe that defining and practicing absolute truth is the one theory that offers the greatest potential for all of us. Absolute truth begins with each of us admitting that none of us are consistently honest with our selves and therefore not able to be honest with each other. Because of our pride, to admit this, can be a difficult first step but it is well worth the initial discomfort. Our lives are largely built upon opinions that we have untruthfully labeled as facts. We have allowed these pleasant sounding untruths to give us security, and very similar to the attitudes of those who were on-board the Titanic, we believe that we are more secure than we actually are. Absolute truth, (the only truth that can pass a polygraph test) will create greater awareness, understanding, wisdom, responsibility, humility, and integrity. These things will lead us to the only way we can hope to have a healthy perspective in our lives. Without absolute truth becoming a priority for all of us, we will continue to put too much importance on the wrong things. We will continue to rob ourselves and our families of our full potential for happiness and peace. We will continue to over populate and destroy the planet.
5--- THE TRUTH PILL
Absolute truth can be compared to a very slowly dissolving pill. When first taken, this pill can be accompanied by some uncomfortable side effects, we are not accustomed to the concept of absolute truth. In spite of this discomfort, if we do not give up on identifying and practicing absolute truth, the out- come will benefit all of us. The pill will dissolve and the side effects will go away. Absolute truth, (the only truth that can pass a polygraph test) is the only solid foundation for which we should build our lives. Anything other than a foundation of absolute truth will not be structurally sound and will fail us when we and our families need security the most.
6---TRUTH IS EASY
It would surprise most people to know just how easy it is to attain absolute truth. There are two very simple steps.
#1-- is merely being able to distinguish between opinion and fact. A fact is different than a belief or a opinion. (A fact can be proven).
#2-- is merely learning to be able to admit and say "I do not know" to anything other than a fact.
It is fine to have a opinion or belief, we must. But we must be careful to label it as what it actually is. We must label opinion as opinion and fact as fact. We should not be surprised if we find that there are a lot more opinions than there are facts. What is important is to not mislabel. It is better to leave a space blank than it is to fill in the wrong answer. It is better to not have a answer than it is to have the wrong answer.
7--- BETTER LEFT BLANK
We all want answers but its better to leave questions unanswered than it is to settle with a non-truth or partial truth. Once we have a answer, whether it be wrong or right, we tend to stop looking, we've already filled in the blank. How many questions in our lives would have been better off, if they had been left blank?
8---THE VALUE OF A POLYGRAPH TEST
The polygraph test would not give us every aspect of truth. It would have great value mostly in the way of bringing a higher degree of accountability to what each of us claim we know is fact. We have become very comfortable in not being honest with each other because we know that we can get away with it, but the polygraph test, (just the thought of it) makes us uncomfortable. It's like a exterior conscience that isn't as easy to turn off or ignore as the conscience within our minds. While taking a polygraph test, each of us would know that we would have to be more careful in what we say.
"If the examinee KNOWS they are lying, the polygraph will detect the lie".---The American Polygraph Association
9---POLYGRAPH TEST / EXAMPLE
Some people choose to believe in ghosts, god, bigfoot, power from crystals, creatures from space, and many other things. Many of these people would pass a polygraph test if they were asked if they really believe in these things. But I think you would find that a lot fewer people would pass the polygraph test if the question was--- Do you know, with 100 percent certainty, that any of these things exist or do not exist?
10---FALLEN TOWER / BELIEFS CHALLENGED
It can be very upsetting when our beliefs are challenged? it makes sense though. We build our lives on our beliefs and it can be devastating if that foundation is found to be in error. With that in mind, our biggest responsibility becomes to try to get ourselves emotionally strong enough so that we can handle being wrong.
11---THE EMOTIONAL SAFETY NET
I believe that if appropriate emotional safety nets are in place, our greatest potential for ourselves and our families lie within all of us learning how to be more honest in all aspects of our lives. How can it be wrong to care about absolute truth? How can it be foolish or a waste of time? it's got to be worth our efforts. It may be more important than any of us can imagine. People of all beliefs, are equally uncomfortable with this concept of absolute truth. No religion or other belief system should feel that they are being singled out or attacked. It is uncomfortable for all of us and me also. We all want the best for ourselves and our families. Pursuing absolute truth will
give us just that.
12----THE GOOD NEWS
Have religious scholars made mistakes in the past ??
Have scientists made mistakes in the past ??
Is it likely that scientists and religious scholars will be found to be in error in any of their conclusions in the future ? Will we feel foolish because we felt so sure they were right ?
If it turns out that we have been wrong about some or many of the things that we now believe to be true, we do not need to be overly upset or discouraged. A author wrote, "The point of power is in the present moment, because in this moment, we have the opportunity to make positive changes or adjustments in our lives" Those changes or adjustments represent growth as opposed to business as usual-stagnation. That is something we can, and should be, proud of.
Another example of a mature and wise attitude was demonstrated in the words of Dr. Carl Sagen. At one point Dr. Sagen discovered a error in a scientific belief. A discouraged student came to him and said "You have debunked all the things that we can believe in, to make ourselves feel worthwhile; what's left?" Without a moment's pause Carl said,"Do something worthwhile, and then you can feel worthwhile".
In all of this, the good news is, if some of the things we believe today, are found to be in error at sometime in the future , it doesn't have to be the end, it can be the beginning of something better than what we have today. We can build a more solid, honest, and true foundation, than the one we currently have and the results will benefit all of us and our families.
