Leaving Pewter City:
Gather your stuff and pocket your Pokemon, we're getting out of this small little town and heading east, to bigger and better things. Heal up at the POKE center and head out going east. Avoid the girl you will encounter when you first set out on the east path, by not getting to close to her, and avoiding her direct line of sight. This is a helpful tip to avoid all trainers you will meet in the wild. But you can also Fight them, to earn money and experience for your Pokemon.

Anyway, this path to the east of Pewter City is called the Route 3 path. Enter the path, then go up, then right, fighting several trainers on the way. If your Pokemon are seriously hurt, just walk right back to the POKE center in Pewter city, and heal them up before continuing. Now continue to work your way right until you approach a man and a sign, standing next to some grass.

At this point, head north and enter the POKE shop you see before you. Let this serve as headquarters for your next conquest, which it really is.

Further Training:
Now, before you enter the Mt. Moon cave to the right of the POKE center, train in the grass to the south of the POKE center for quite a while. I had to train for quite a while here too! Make sure to get about 3 good Pokemon with you, such as Pidgey, the Rattata, as well as your starting Pokemon.

While your here, you might as well talk to the people in the POKE center. One of them will sell you a fish like Pokemon for I can't remember how much yen. You might as well buy it, you've got nothing better to do with the money right now.

Mt. Doom Cave:
Ok, time to enter that dark cave to the right of the POKE center. Enter, and walk to the left, into a medium room, which is a dead end. It does though have some good items. Near the bottom of the room is the Technical Machine 12, and a potion near the top of the room. These items look like Monster Balls on the screen, but they really aren't monster balls, they're actually good, sometimes needed items.

Now walk to the right past a guy and signpost, then head north, then right. Here will be a small hole in the ground, and you can take it into the lower passage way (OPTIONAL). In the passage way, go south, then left, down another cave, then explore the room you end up in, and fight the Team Rocket guy you find here. I can't remember if there's anything needed in this cave, but there is an HP Power Up. Now retrace your steps back up the passage way, and all the way back to where you first came into this dark pit in the ground on the main floor.

Now, if needed, please go back and heal yourself at the POKE center. Ok, you ready to continue?

Taking off from the first hole in the ground you found, (OPTIONAL) Head south to pickup some nifty items. All the way to the south, then on your left, you will find another Potion, then over to the right, you will find some Rare Candy, then walk along the right wall and head north and you'll find an escape rope. You can use the escape rope to exit out of this cave from anywhere if you get stuck, but keep in mind you only have one of these, and they are very rare in the game.

Walk to the far NorthEast and then head west, then south. Here you will see another hole in the ground. (OPTIONAL) Take it down and get the goods you find below, which include a Technical Machine 01, which is a megaton punch. Then go back up to the top level again.

TECHNICAL MACHINES: What are these things? Well, they are skills that you can train your Pokemon to use in battle. Click on a TM (Technical Machine) in your items menu and it will ask if you wish to use it, then ask on which creature. Select one of your Pokemon, then choose an empty attack slot or which attack you wish this new Technical Machine skill to replace. Once you click, your monster will be tested to see if he/she can use the skill, and if they can't, you will be rejected. But if they can, everything will be all set. An example of being reject is using a "Bubble Power" machine on a fire-elemental creature. The fire-elemental creature can not use this attack, so they can't use this machine. You can have only one Pokemon use each machine at a time, but you can leave the machine, which you retain in your items list, at the next POKE center with a computer in it, by accessing your item database, which we'll learn how to do later.

Continuing on, and healing as needed... head south of this hole and then left, then north. You will find a guy guarding a hole here. Defeat or avoid him, and enter the hole. You will be in another passage way, so head south then right, and down another hole. Now you will come out of a hole, and head to the right and go down the stairs below you. Here you will have to fight a Pokemon Trainer with a giant Raticate monster. Then continue up the stairs to the right, then go south and far to the west. Then head north and defeat the Team Rocket member you encounter here.

Mini Boss:
The guy you find to the far north here, at the top of the stairs, poses a minor problem. But if you Pokemon are well trained and well rested, he won't put up that much of a fight. Defeat him, then you will be given a choice between two items blocking the path. Choose one of them, (I don't know what either is), and he'll choose the other. Now you are free to pass north, then head to the left and go down the stairs, and take the exit.

Fresh Air At Last:
Finally, your out of that musky cave. Travel East and once you reach a row of bushes, head north and pickup the Monster Ball item you find there, which will be the Technical Machine 04, which is called "Blow Away", which probably gives you the ability to blow away attacking monsters in battle. You will see a girl on the other side of the stones here, but you won't be able to get to here into far later in the game, so don't worry. So head right, then go to the south and jump over a small ledge of stones, keep in mind, you won't be able to get back to where you just were for quite a long time.

Cerulean City:
While your stuck here in Cerulean City, you might as well meet the residents. Visit each building, and see what each person inside says. You will notice the GYM on the right side of the city. Enter it and and walk up, where you will be stopped by a swimmer. Finish off his water Pokemon, then go back to the POKE center to heal.

Now head back to the GYM, and approach the boss again, but you will be stopped by her bodyguard. She will attack with a giant fish like creature with a giant spike on his head, deal with him, then go back to the POKE center to heal, then come back to face the boss.

BOSS 2: MISTY
The master of the gym is Misty, doesn't seem like that frightening of a name, but if you aren't ready for her water power attacks, then you better prepare yourself. Bulbasaur is your best bet against her Level 18 Staryu and Level 21 Starmie Pokemon. Sink her ship and you'll get Technical Machine 11, "Bubble Destruction", and also her Cascadebadge. This badge can later be combined with a Hidden Machine to gain the cut ability.
