Note: If you would like to write a chapter for the Pokemon WalkThru, please e-mail me and you will be given credit for your work. But first notify my that you're writing a chapter, thanks!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Forward:
This tutorial will provide you with a step by step walkthru through the game. What this will not do is include all the training which must be done. In certain areas I may tell you to train your monsters, but in others I won't. Just keep in mind, the more time you spend training, the less frustrating the game will be.
Also, keep in mind, that this will start out VERY simple, but the simpleness will slowly come to an end as you learn to do things without me mentioning it. If you are looking for help on an area past the first boss, then skip ahead to the Boss 2 section.

Intro:
Doctory Oak (Okido) starts off by briefing you in the ways of the Pokemon. These creatures are out there, everywhere, and they must be caugt! His goal is to assemble a book of all 150 Pokemon, with weight and size, and it's your mission to complete it. But not without some competetion, Gary Oak, your rival, will try to beat you to the goods at many ocasions and will fight you often enough.

Select a name for your main character. (e.g. Ash)

Select a name for your main rival. (e.g. Gary)

You start out in your own home, right in front of your SNES. Go downstairs and say hello to your mom, then go outside. Start heading North right away, and walk out onto the tall grass path... Where Dr. Oak will stop you, and escort you back to his lab. Here you will be given a choice of your starting Pokemon.

The Big Choice:
What to choose, oh which one to pick?

On the left is Charmander, or the Dragon like creature. He is the strongest starting creature, and posseses the great element of Fire. He is your best choice for begining Pocket Masters.

In the center is Squirtle, a turtle-like squirrel-like water based Pokemon. At the beginning he is kinda weak, but in his final mutation he touts some pretty big attacks, as well as some pretty big guns.

Finally, on the far right, is Bulbasaur. He is a Plant-Poison combination forming a frog plant like formation. He is semi-strong, and he is a pretty good fighter. Later in the game you will need him to cut down bushes, (using a special ability), so pick him if you want to beat the game on your own. If you happen to know a friend that will trade you a Bulbasaur, then I would recommend starting out with Charmander.

Your First Fight:
Even before you can exit Professor Oak's lab, Gary Oak will challenge you to a duel. Your Pokemon that you've just picked out will be pitted against his Pokemon. During this battle, just pick the 1st attack command, the command to it's right is for items, the command below is for switching Pokemon when you gain more later, and the bottom right command is for running.

Anyway, just pick the 1st attack command, then you will be shown the 4 attacks of your creature, for now it will only show two attacks, but just pick the first one. Now the monsters will swing at each other, and when they stop, pick the 1st attack again and so on... If you win this first battle, you can a few extra Yen and experience, if you lose, just go back to your home and your mother will heal your Pokemon.

Adventure:
Now you're ready for an Adventure, right? Well head north along that path, out of the town that you were currently in (Pallet Town) and along the route 1 path. Small Pidgey's (#16) and Rattata (#19) live in the deep grass. Keep going north until you reach the next town, using your 1st attack on any enemies you may meet.

This town you are entering is called Viridian City. Go into the building just inside the town with the word POKE on it. Walk directly forward and talk to the girl at the counter. Say yes to what she says, and she will heal you Pokemon back to full health. Next, go back outside and go to the building to the NorthWest, with a sign that says SHOP. Talk to the woman at the counter, and she will give you a package to give back to Professor Oak.

Back to Pallet Town:
Walk back south to the first town you were at, training your monster along the way, and enter Prof. Oak's lab, where you were earlier. Enter and walk up to the professor, and he will be joyous with the package you give him. He'll give you, and your rival, a PokeDex, an electronic book for you to record all your Pokemon findings in. Now you are ready to adventure.

Go back to the 2nd town, Viridian City, and enter the shop. Buy the item for 200 Yen called a Monster Ball. Buy about 5 of these. Now go back south to route one, and walk in the high grass to get into a fight. Now fight as usual with your Pokemon, but when the enemy is near death, select the choice to the right of the attack command, and this will bring up your item list. Select the Monster Ball item, and your character will attempt to catch the enemy Pokemon in it. If it succeeds, take your new Pokemon back to the building with the POKE sign on it, and talk to the girl again and she will heal it, and all your Pokemon, back to full health.

Saving Your Game:
To save your game, bring up the main menu by pressing Start, and select the save option from the list, which is the 3rd item from the bottom. It will now show your current progress and ask you if you want to save, so click yes. You have now saved your game! Do so as often as you like, wherever you may be.

>>>TRAINING: Now is a good time to train! Train along the path between town one and two to your hearts content.

Viridian Forest:
Now continue north through Viridian Town to a building to the far north, located on the route 2 path. Pass through this building, and you'll be in the mysterious Viridian Forest. First, walk on the path to the left, then up, then go off the path and walk to the left. You will find a Monster Ball. Pick it up! Now walk back to the start of the forest, and this time head to the right, then up. Here you will meet a bug-catching boy that will challenge you.

Trainer Fights:
When you fight a trainer, they will often have more than one Pokemon. If you have tournament option on, after you defeat each Pokemon, the game will ask you if you want to switch characters for the next fight. If you have it off, it will not ask you this question. To switch characters if one is severely hurt, select the command just below the attack command, keep in mind, on the menu before it lists the monsters 4 attacks. This will now take you to a list of your Pokemon, so select the pokemon that you want to take it's place in the battle with.

After you win the fight, (if you lose, go back to the 2nd town and heal your creatures and train some more) continue to the north, fighting trainers when necesarry. Another Monster Ball can be found to the north, then go west, then sound, and follow the winding trail through the deep grass. When you come to a sign post, stop, and you'll find another Monster Ball and a Potion to your bottom right. Now continue on the trail and you're outta here!

PIKACHU ALERT:
Pikachu can be found near the exit of the forest, hiding in the tall grass. The chance of a random battle with him is low, and the chance of capturing him is even lower. He will escaper from most Monster Balls you throw at him. Don't worry, you'll be able to access this part of the map again, eventually...

Pewter City:
Exit the forest and the building you come out into, and you're on the path that leads to Pewter City. Walk north into Pewter City and visit the POKE building to your left, and talk to the lady to get your Pokemon healed. Visit the SHOP if you want to buy more Monster Balls, for 200 apiece. Now walk to the big building to the North. They will charge you 50 Yen admission, but just pay it, I don't know why. Now explore the museum, and click on everything you see. Don't forget to go upstairs and talk to all the people, and look at the scale model of the Space Shuttle Columbus.

The GYM: a.k.a. Boss 1
Exit the museum, and walk left and down and enter the building marked GYM. This is where the 1st boss resides, so make sure to save your game now. Enter and walk up towards the boss Brock, and you will be faced with a Jr Trainer. This Jr. Trainer must be taught a lesson, but with his Diglet and Sandshrew Pokemon, which you have never seen before, may provide an opposition. Probably, Not! Teach these Pokemon some manners and waste them with your attacks. After this battle, exit the GYM and go back to the POKE center to get healed up, and go back to the GYM and save your game again.

BOSS 1: BROCK
Walk forward now to Brock, the 1st Boss in the game. He will attack with a Geodude level 12 pokemon and a Onix level 14 pokemon, so you might want to make sure your primary fighter is around level 16 before you challenge him. With Charmander, use his 3rd attack down (fire), if you have it. With the others, use there attacks to finish him off. Pikachu, if you managed to capture him, would also be a good choice to take on the 1st boss.

Once you win, you will get the Boulderbadge, which will give all your Pokemon a small boost of power, and later combines with a hidden machine to make the flash ability. For now, take your winnings and rest... ..er rahter train in the surrounding grasslands.
