Aeka is the princess of Jurai. All of her life she has been learning the customs and laws of Jurain royalty. Aeka is polite and proper, the opposite of her rival, Ryoko, who also attempts to gain for Tenchi's affections. Despite her proper outer visage she has a dark side, she is also a dominatrix.
Being a member of the Royal family she has the ability to control Jurai power. She channels it through the tiara on her head in much the same way Tenchi uses the sword. She can then channel it into laser blasts. Her tiara also serves as the control device for her tree of Jurai. Jurain keys are created on the tree which they will control. The key takes a form to suit its new owner.

Names: Azaka and Kamidake
Purpose: Guardians of Ayeka

Azaka and Kamidake are Ayeka's guardians they protect her and obey her without question. They serve as advisors, companions, servants, and protectors of the princess. They are also storage devices for the essences of the Knights of Jurai. They were named after powerful knights of Juri who served to protect the kingdom. Ayeka can create lesser versions of Azaka and Kamidake but these copies are not nearly as powerful. The reason that they look so much like logs is that they are crafted from a tree of Jurai.
Azaka and Kamidake can attack by firing lasers while flying about individually. However, their most powerful attack can only be performed while both are present. They can emit massive amounts of electricity. This can be used as either a physical attack or to form a force field for defense. They can also absorb normal matter which allows them to imprison people.
For the most part they hang outside the gates of Tenchi's house and terrorize mailmen and paperboys.

Name: Kiyone Makibi

Moving quickly through the ranks of the Galaxy Police Academy, Kiyone had a bright future ahead of her. She finished at the top of her class and gained widespread recognition before graduation. Kiyone is level-headed and serious. Her combat skills are extraordinary and she has the natural gut instincts that make her an excellent detective.
On her first assignment she was assigned a partner named Mihoshi, a bubbly headed blonde, and began the downward spiral of Kiyone's career. She did nothing on purpose its just the way Mihoshi is. Her future as a Galaxy Police detective was put on hold and she became a resident officer on a remote planet named Earth. Kiyone wants nothing more than to resume her career and ascend the ranks of the Galaxy Police. However, even fate cannot separate Kiyone and Mihoshi.

Name: Tenchi Masaki

Ever since he was young his grandfather trained him in the art of swordplay each summer while he was off from school. He never knew why his grandfather trained him but he just accepted it, not knowing anything of Juri. The truth is that his grandfather sensed great power in Tenchi and he is right. Tenchi grew up most of his life without his mother, who died when he was very young. He was raised by his father, Noboyuki and his grandfather Katsuhito, giving him a great sense of responsibility.
The main part of the show is that Tenchi has a kind heart and is a bit indecisive when it comes to women. He has women who are interested in him all around him but he's yet to follow through with any of them. Ryoko, Ayeka, Sasami, Mihoshi, and Washu all have some interest for Tenchi, constantly trying to gain his attention through one way or another.

Name: Mihoshi Kuramitsu

Mihoshi is a member of the Galaxy Police (GP) she only got this position because the Grand Marshall is her grandfather. The GP thought that they could handle one person as clueless as Mihoshi by assigning her to a remote sector in the Sol system. It's quiet there, nothing really big happens there, Right? What's the worst that could happen? Unfortunately that's where Tenchi lives and as you can tell things around Tenchi are hardly normal. Mihoshi's grandfather is the Grand Marshall of the Galaxy Police. Because of this Mishoshi's chief and commanding officer has to take good care of his granddaughter.
Being assigned a partner Kiyone, Mihoshi has found someone to look up to and wants nothing more than to spend time with Kiyone. Unlike Kiyone her good points are sleeping, karaoke, and screwing up. Using a small cube called her control cube that control's her ship, she does more damage with it than anything else. For example by turning it one way and then another, the sun goes out.

Name: Ryoko

Ryoko is an Oni, an ancient Japanese devil who was imprisoned outside the Masaki Shrine until Tenchi released her (in the first OVA), she is also a well known Space Pirate. Her origin goes back to Washu who created her my using a simple life form called Mass and one of Washu's egg cells. Ryoko's chief rival for Tenchi's love is Princess Aeka, the princess of Jurai. While Ryoko is outgoing and brash, Ayeka is more withdrawn and proper which causes for their constant arguing.
Little is known about Ryoko's past before her battle with Yosho, the person who imprisoned Washu and was taking Soja. At this time of history, Ryoko was under the control of Kagato, who used her to lead the only successful attack on Jurai.

Name: Ryo-Ohki
Purpose: Ryoko's Ship

Ryo-Ohki (also known as Cabbit, a cat/rabbit), is the pet of the Tenchi house, allowing itself to transform into a spaceship. Although throughout the series Ryo-Ohki spends most of her time playing with Sasami and was created by Washu.
Ryo-Ohki has died many times. But just before she dies she lays an egg. Within 3-5 days this egg will hatch and Ryo-Ohki will be reborn. Sometimes the new generation Ryo-Ohki will evolve new abilities.
Ryo-Ohki was created by Washu using a simple life form called Mass and an unknown mineral element. And like Ryoko she draws her power from Ryoko's gems. That explains the gem on Ryo-Ohki's forehead. The gem is what keeps Ryo-Ohki alive. It allows her to communicate with Ryoko when she has at least one gem. The gem can also emit a powerful laser which is her primary weapon in spaceship form and can be fired in cabbit form too. She can use telekinesis to make herself fly as well as other objects.

Name: Sasami Jurai Masaki

Sasami is the younger sister of Aeka. Sasami is a paradox of childishness and maturity. While she enjoys the childhood pleasures she also harbors a deeper level of maturity. Being a member of the Jurain Royal Family she inherited some abilities. But she lost these during her unfortunate incident. Sasami was killed when Kagato commanded Ryoko to lead the first successful attack on Jurai. During the attack a Jurian battleship crashed into a building which Sasami was in. Sasami fell into a deep chasm where there were many trees of Jurai. One of these trees was Tsunami who sensed that Sasami was dying. Tsunami used some of her life force to save her. Ever since that time two triangular markings have been visible on her forehead.
Tsunami and Sasami are the same person and when Sasami grows up she will become Tsunami with both memories. Because of this Sasami is haunted my terrifying nightmares which occur frequently. They usually are visions of things to come. Not exactly the way they will occur but they give her an idea of what is going to happen. Her nightmares are not set in stone though, she can change the future by making others make different decisions that would lead to their future.
Note: it is because Tsunami and Sasami are the same person that I don't differentiate from the both of them on this site. All Tsunami's pictures are in the Sasami categories because of this fact.

Name: Washu Hakubi

Washu is the mad scientist that created Ryoko, Cabbit, and the Internet. Washu is one of those people in the universe that you just don't mess with. She always seems to be ready for whatever happens to be in her way. Some of her inventions include: Mecha-Washu, Mecha-Ryoko, The Galaxy Destroyer, A door that can connect any two points within space, and a machine that can generate any space/time that you want.
Washu is one of the three goddess in the Tenchi Universe. She was also the most powerful. Over 20,000 years ago, Washu's powers and memories were sealed away into three gems. This was the reason that she created Ryoko. Ryoko is capable of channeling this power given that she has all three gems. During the process of creating Ryoko one of her assistants named Yakage, who was charged with creating the perfect sword for Ryoko, stole some of the earliest cells and made his own Ryoko named Minagi. After the creation of Ryoko, Kagato trapped Washu within her own invention and abused Ryoko's powers for his own evil purposes.
Washu remained trapped within a large crystal within the mirror dimension of Soja, Kagato's ship which was invented by Washu as well. Washu was released when Kagato came to earth to reclaim Ryoko. Thinking Tenchi dead the girls go to avenge Tenchi and Mihoshi accidentally releases Washu.
Washu's subspace lab is actually located on five separate planets. These planet's are interconnected using inter-dimensional wormholes all connected to the main lab which is the one she appears in most frequently. The labs include a supercomputer lab, a biology lab, a lab for extracting "samples", a cybernetics core, and the main lab that contains the shell created by Kagato for Tsunami.
She maintains the appearance of a 12 year old because when she was young (20,000 years ago) she had a child. But it was taken from her because of the father's social status. Washu figured that if she took on the appearance of a 12 year old, such things wouldn't matter. She eventually grew up and offered to have Tenchi's child, something with Ayeka and Ryoko didn't like at all.
