“What do you mean by the end of this world?” Akurei’s voice squeaked.
“Later. Come with me first, and let me send these ruffians on their way.”
Magor started barking orders in that weird language. The underlings “Later my friend, later. First, come with us to the village.” Magor gestured to a side tunnel, then led his way down it. Akurei followed quietly with the two baby birds and Ursa on his shoulders. The tunnel was perfectly smooth on all sides, with no beams to hold it up. When he touched the sides of the tunnel, he found hard solid rock, which relieved him. Slowly, he noticed that the rock floor was going downwards. Akurei was just about to ask Magor something when his breath was taken away. The floor fell away to a vast cavern. It went hundreds of feet deep, buildings and such built on the solid floor of the cave, and some homes or stores (He guessed) were built into the walls, all the way to the ceiling. Underlings stared at him from the small ledge he stood. The whole cavern was lit up by crystals that gave off a bright light that were set in the ceiling of the cavern. Akurei saw no other pokemon about other then his own three, which disturbed him.
“How… where…”
Magor laughed. “You are to fly across the cavern my friend.” The underling pointed across the cavern to a large hole in the whole, which had an arch of the glowing crystals about it. He blinked, then blinked harder. He had no flying poke… He glanced to Ursa and said softly.
“Will you fly me across the cavern my dearone?”
“Ursa will fly you!” She jumped off his shoulder and flapped out into the air. The underlings, Akurei noticed, turned their white gaze to the snowy pokemon. He frowned, thinking, then shrugged. Ursa grew in size till she was bigger then a Pidgeot.
“Jump!” She called. Akurei winced, took the other two pokemon in his hands, laughed and jumped into thin air. For a breath-taking moment, he felt nothing. But then he fell onto Ursa’s broad back with a whoop of laughter. Ursa gave out a call that sounded like the wind howling in the blizzard. The underlings cheered loudly, filling that huge area with their cries. Akurei grinned and looked to Magor.
“Come on!” Akurei grinned.
Magor eyed the jump, then jumped down onto Ursa’s back. As soon as he touched the bird’s body, he froze.
“URSA WHAT HAPPENED!?”
“When someone lands on Ursa’s back that is not master, they freeze.”
“AHHH shit!” He cursed and told her to fly quickly. He could see a huge crowd had come to the ledge Magor had pointed out. Ursa spun to the right then straight again, and finally landed on the rock. Akurei swung off her back in a hurry and pulled Magor off her. Instantly, he was unfrozen.
“YOU! The Chosen One!” He hissed, backing up. The underlings around him took up the chant. “Chosen One! Chosen One!”
“What!? Chosen for WHAT?!” Akurei screamed over the fray. Magor grabbed his arm in a tight grip, strong as iron, and literally dragged him into the cave. Akurei snorted, but noticed the noise of the crowd was gone. It was dead slight except for the plinking sounds of water on a crystal fountain. He looked around slowly. This cave was pretty large. It had a clear blue pond in one “corner” that had a waterfall dropping into it and it seemed to be lit up by tiny lights. Furs were in one corner, hidden by a thick curtain of brown material. It was made of an onyx type of rock.
“Wow… what is this place… And are you ok??” Akurei asked worried.
“I’m fine.” Magor snorted. “Come here, Chosen One.” Magor sat down on a big rock by the edge of the pond. Akurei walked over and joined him on a rock that face the one he was one.
“What is all this stuff about me being a “Chosen One?” I don’t know what you are talking about!”
“Listen to this story first…” Magor closed his eyes. The sound of the water got louder, filled Akurei’s ears… when he opened his closed eyes again… He gasped.

“This world… was once ruled by them…” A voice whispered. “This world… once had no life…”
The area about him glittered in some strange light. There was a volcano in the distance, but when Akurei faced it, it seemed to come into sharper view. He gasped again.
“Unformed… raw as a beating heart…” Akurei took a deep breath, and he felt the ground pounding under his feet.
“And then… “ The world shattered under his feet. Something unknown happened… “And the first pokemon came forth.”
From the volcano came two pokemon. One, a huge bird of fire, and the other, a large bear-like pokemon with flames dancing over its skin. From the frozen top, came two ice pokemon. Then grass, then water, then rock…
“The ghost pokemon… are ghosts of those who died after these times…The dragon pokemon were thought to be the last pokemon, but it unsure…”
Akurei watched silently.
“The world shifted, formed, and became one. The 15 of the original bird pokemon and 15 of the others went to war. The rest found cover in this strange world, and evolved.”
Something pointed out a tall thin pokemon.
“The first human came from that pokemon.”
Something pointed out a long lizard pokemon.
“The first Lizico came from that. We creatures though superior came from the pokemon that the humans of your world keep as slaves. Here, in this place, pokemon can be caught, but can never be kept if they do not wish it…” The creatures battled. Fire and Water whipped, Thunder and Ice danced. “This war has ne’er been settled, and it probably ne’er will. Inn the end, only two pokemon were left.” The view shifted, making Akurei sick. Before him stood two pokemon. One psychic, one normal. The normal was sure to lose. But the psychic cocked its head, and its roaring voice shot over the field.
“My friend. Why do we battle here? Shall we not live in peace, side by side, and only fight for fun?”
The normal one looked down in thought, the dropped its paw down.
“Yes… we should not fight…”
“I…I think we should join my friend. Together, one heart, one mind, one body… two types.”
The normal nodded, and the two moved together. The psychic put its paws on the normal’s head, and slowly they merged. Akurei’s breath caught in his throat as he saw two glowing white balls, their souls perhaps, come out of their bodies and slowly merged in the air. Their bodies fell to the ground and dissolved. But that glowing ball came to him, and stopped before his eyes. He put out a (hand?) and touched it carefully. His fingers sunk into molten yearning, passion, death, life… All emotions he had felt only in passing before. Memories of the pokemon that once held these (this?) soul passed into his mind. (Pain?) No… just a memory… (Love?) Not since the hidden time… (Rest?) Yes… rest… and his hand was captured, that glittering white orb spread over him like a second skin. (Screamed?) As it sunk into him, his heart and soul, his (powers?) yes… psychic powers… not human… but a pokemon… the first born…
And the world fell away as the earth shattered…

Cold claws… fiery wings…
Watery fur… poison fangs…
Death and life… soul reborn…
Earth anew… passion gone…
World’s rebirth… And whole again…

Light! Solid and whole. Heat is gone, feathers drying nicely. Ahh… the sun! The Sun! That burning ball only felt through the shell of the egg. Reborn again… this time anew… no longer fire… Just… plain. Hands… warm and gentle… lifting. (Soaring?) A face… not mother… something new?

He cried out as the life of so many pokemon passed before his eyes. No! Not pokemon! The first borns… the Nemoritus. Everything he knew, he thought he knew, shattered, and life replaced it….

“No! STOP!”
“Shhh… do not fear…”
“Stop it…!”
A cool hand on his brow.
“Now you understand…”

He awoke some time after, furs rubbing aginast his cheek. Who? Where? He couldn’t remember. His hands reached blindly out to the air, and meet a warm body.
“Shh… Akurei… my bondmate. Don’t cry…” Warm breath touched his cheek.
“G-gem…” It came out being a croak.
“He didn’t take it well. No human could have even survived… He is one of them.”
“One.. of what…”
“The Nemoritus.”
“Who…”
“Relax my friend… and you will see…”
Sleep came again…

When his eyes flashed open this time, recovering from the memory of the worlds, they met Geminite’s fiery ones. He hugged her close, crying softly. He didn’t know what to think.
“My bondmate!” She cried and purred hard, it gave him warmth.
“What I saw Geminite! What I felt...!”
“I know…” She said.
“I knew too.” A voice came from across the cave. Magor. “Now is my time. You will be left in my place.”
Akurei sat up with a wince and looked at Magor. The underling had two maxtraballs in his hands.
“I battle… if I win…You die… If you win… I die. No! Don’t say anything young man. This is the way it must be. Choose.”
Akurei frowned and thought. A poke… no… Nemoritus battle…?
“Come forth my friend.” Magor threw out a maxtraball, and out came a Granight. Akurei fumbled about, and he felt the cold metal of his maxtraballs. He blindly felt for the wave shape on one… there!
“Mistem… Come forth…”
Mistem surged out.
“Granight, diamond spear!”
“Mistem, vapor… vapor…” He coughed hard. “Vapor beam now”
Mistem threw part of its watery self at Granight, who roared in pain and fell. Magor called it back.
“Come forth, Moldravine.”
A large pokemon came forth, one with a dirt brown skin and silver claws, with vines spourting from its wrists and ankles.

“Moldravine. This earth/jungle pokemon is unique. It uses its vines to scoop dirt out to make its home.”

A double type? Water wouldn’t work against jungle… fire not against earth… Electric… no… What did he have? His hand grasped a maxtraball and he weakly
threw it.
“Go…” He whispered. He didn’t have the strength. And out came… Diem…It hissed and snarled.
“Diem… damn… Use… something…” He remembered Geminite and Chamelion saying something about this pokemon…
Diem turned on Akurei, and growled. Akurei lifted his head higher to stare down the metal/evil pokemon. Diem edged closer to him, sensing his weakness. But Akurei growled deep in his throat and pressed into the pokemon’s mind that he had to fight and that he was master. Diem snarled, threw itself at Akurei, and fell back with a whimper as it slammed into an invisible wall. The air in front of Akurei shimmered with power. Diem got to his feet and shook his head. But he finally turned and faced Moledravine.
“Moldravine use your leaf slice attack!”
Leaves of different shades of green shot at Diem in a flash, the vines from the other pokemon wrapping around his neck and middle. Diem growled and spit out diamond-shaped hunks of metal at the vines, not Moldravine. Akurei grinned. The battle, though he himself couldn’t be in it, made his blood sing.
“Use metallic sting!”
Diem broke free of the vines and two slots opened up on either side of him, and thick, long, needles shot out from those slots, sinking deep into Moldravine’s skin. Moldravine roared and fell. But it got back up, quivering with the poison now in its system.
“Use earthpound!”
Moldravine nodded “VINE!” It screamed and dug underground. Diem searched the area, feeling the small quakes as Moldravine moved. He made a sound of puzzlement. Then Moldravine came up from under the ground and hit Diem on the way up, then came down to give the earth a mighty punch, making it shake and twist. Diem gave a yelp of pain and fell forward to his knees.
“Diem!!!” Akurei tried to get up, but Geminite pushed him back down.
“Don’t get up! Use Chamelion!”
“Right…” Akurei called back Diem, worried slightly, and grabbed Chamelion’s maxtraball.
“Chamelion!”
The green pokemon roared as he came out, prancing on his toes in excitement.
“Chamelion, use… Diamond reflection…”
Chamelion glowed, and slowly formed into Moledravine.
“Use leaf slice attack!”
He shot out the vines on his wrists and slash at the more vunerable brown skin.Moldravine screeched in pain.
“Again!”
Another scream, followed by a thud.
“We did it!” Chamelion beamed.

“And… my time is over, Akurei.” Magor said slowly. Akurei blinked.
“Why?”
“Only one Nemoritus may live at a time…”
“But…”
“I will stay long enough to teach you the past. Then I will leave. Now get some sleep, and I will talk to you in the morning…”
“Wait… where is Ursa?”
“The snow Nemoritus? She flies to the dawn, then returns.”
“She went out flying?”
“Yes.”
“OH! Ok… g’night.”
“Goodnight…”
Akurei laid back on the furs and pulled one over him as Geminite curled up at his back. For the first time since arriving in this new world… he felt happy…and safe.

He stretched as he woke up. A gentle light fell on him. Firelight. He chuckled warmly and laid back, staring at the rock ceiling. Hmmm… it was nice here. To bad he couldn’t stay.
“Akurei are you ready? There are clothes by you.” Akurei saw a pile ofblack clothes at his side, though they were not his. He stood and ducked behind the thick curtain, checking out the new clothes. The pants were very
baggy. It had a loose undershirt and a tunic to go over it. The tunic had silver, unknown, writing on it. Over top of it all went a black robe with the same silver writing, but it had pictures of pokemon unknown to him in different colors of their types. Thick leather boots donned his feet. He found that the tips of his boots had hidden spikes. He guessed they were used for climbing. It struck him as weird that the underlings would have clothes, as even Magor only had loin cloths. He frowned, but shrugged. Akurei stepped back out and looked to Magor.
“How do I look?”
“Very fine, Nemoritus.”
“Excuse me?”
“Please, sit down.” Magor took a seat on a large rock near the pond and
indicated a rock across from him. Akurei plopped down next to him and let his pokemon out, whose maxtraballs where on an attachment to the pants.
Mistem hopped into the pond and splashed around, Chamelion and Diem greeted eachother again with a snort and sat down next to Akurei on either side, Geminite galloped about playfully and barked. Granight settled down for a nap.
“So…?”
“Listen, Akurei, don’t speak. As you saw… the last two pokemon of the Nemoritus’s War combined and formed a single one, which lasted till it found a body it could occupy.”
“Wo…”
“This body died in time, but the soul was reborn. Again and again through the ages. And finally… It came upon me. I was supposed to die sometime ago, but something kept me alive. You. When you were born, you were adopted by a Myuu. She could tell that you were special, and protected you as you grew and became the “Pokemon Master.” And you did.”
“How do you know?”
“Because I am a Nemoritus. I just know.” Magor gave him a toothy smile.
“You see… in the past… when the world formed, those pokemon came forth. We don’t know how, but they did. That war was for power, but that one psychic knew it had to stop. Then and there. So that is what they did. But the soul lived on, and finally settled on me. Yes I know I said that already. But you were special. The moment Myuu found you as a baby, the world starting shaking. It was another time, just like the first. But Myuu knew she had to protect you, so she used her powers to make a time portal and send you to the world you know. There you where a child. When you got there, you didn’t know where you were. But… something found you, and attacked you. Myuu was too tired to fight, and you got hit in the head, and made you lose your memories of this world. Myuu fled, but you know she found you again.”
Akurei sat, but suttered out. “But she was from ancient times… hundreds of years before I was born!”
“Like I said, she made a time portal, and sent you both into the furture. She didn’t know it then, but you are one of them.”
“One…” He croaked. “Of them….?”
“Akurei.” Magor leaned in close. “You are one. A Nemoritus.”
