Call of the Dark Unknown/ Chapter 6 - By: jademoonstone4@hotmail.com - Pokemon

Akurei slowly walked out the door that he spotted. It was like a backdoor, and let him out behind the gym. He ran to the centare and gave the nurse his maxtraballs.
“Please… they need to be healed!”
“Right away!” She turned to the machine and let it run, placing the maxtraballs inside. After a moment or two, she handed them back.
“Good as new!” Akurei thanked her and walked outside, where he quickly let Gemaside and Bedine out.
“We did it! And I gained a new pokemon!”
“Very good Akurei…” Bedine eyed his new badge. Gemaside whistled lightly, and the badge glowed. Akurei chuckled and hugged the both of them.
“You guys are great. Thank you…” He looked away sadly. “You held your promise to me guys… if you want to go, you’re free to.” He heard the two laughed softly in his mind.
“We are not going to leave you now, Akurei! This is too much fun.” Akurei hugged them tight. “Thank you…”
“Now… we should get going. Did you ask what the next gym was? And where?”
"OMG I forgot!” Akurei rushed back into the centare with Gemaside and Bedine at his heels. “Nurse, What is the next gym?”
“Ummm… Hold on dear.” She typed into her computer. “I believe the next city is…Inferno. Do you want a map?”
“Uhh… sure.” She handed him a small chip. “What do I do with it?”
“There is a small notch on the side of your ultradex, slip it in there.”
“Thank you!” And he walked back out. He pulled out his ultradex and the chip and placed the chip into place. It whirled for a moment, then a projection formed in the air over the ultradex. It looked like… a…
“OMG IT’S A VOLCANO!”
Akurei nearly fell over in relief as he saw that the city was next to the volcano.
“Well… I guess we should start off… We have at least an hour of daylight left…”
They nodded, and all of them started down the route to Inferno City.

“It’s time we stopped.” Bedine said slowly. Akurei nodded and walked over to a small clearing in the woods he could just see with the light of Gemaside’s tail. He set up his sleeping bag and crawled into it.
“Night guys… I’ll eat in the morning…Make sure to make a fire…” Akurei said before drifting off to sleep. Bedine laid down beside him.
“He’s really getting better…”
Gemaside nodded her head lightly.
“He’ll be fully recovered when he sees what I have in store for him soon…

Akurei woke with the sun pouring down on him. He smiled and streatched, hearing his back and limbs pop. A yawn and he got up, noticing Gemaside and Bedine where gone.
“Probably hunting.” He thought sleepily.
He started to heat up some food over the remained of last night’s fire.
That’s when he heard someone call.
“Hey!! Two wild pokemon!” Akurei gasped and ran towards the voice. He just got there in time to see a boy throw a pair of maxtraballs at Gemaside and Bedine, and to see them get sucked in. Akurei growled slowly as they reappeared.
“Those are MY pokemon!”
“Well, they aren’t around you are they??”
“Gemaside, Bedine, come here.” They trotted over to him and Gemaside nuzzled
him. The boy sighed.
“Ahh… come on! I wanted them…”
“Sorry, but they’re mine.” He turned and started to walk away.
“Hey wait!” The boy called.
“What?” Akurei looked over his shoulder.
“Do you think I could come with you?” The boy asked sheepishly.
Akure blinked and looked at the two at his feet. “What do you two think?” He whispered.
“I like him…” Bedine said slowly, his mind voice sound.
“I agree, take him on, least till you get to Infero City…”
Akurei sighed. “What’s your name boy?”
“My name’s…” He was thinking. “I think my name is…” He looked at the ground.
“I don’t remember…” Akurei blinked hard. He walked over to the boy and looked him over, then finally saw a huge lump on his forehead where the skin met hair.
“How did that happen?” Akurei said, pointing to it.
“I fell off a cliff…” The boy looked down again.
“You must have amensia… Sheesh…” Akurei walked over to the boy, and ushered him towards the fire. “Have a seat.” The boy sat. Akurei handed him some of the slightly burnt meat. “Eat up, I have plenty.” The boy gave him a small smile and started to eat. Akurei watched him closely. He couldn’t remember his own name, but he remembered how to catch pokemon?
“Do you have any pokemon?” He gestured to Gemaside and Bedine.
“I don’t know…” And Akurei sighed. He glanced at the kid’s belt, and saw a dark red maxtraball there.
“It would seem you do…” He took the maxtraball and threw it out.
“Pokemon within, Come forth.” Slowly, a form took shape. The pokemon had a flame red type fur that seemed to move like flames. Its red glowed red, and its claws where made of fire.
“Lavora..!” It said.
Akurei pulled out his ultradex and pointed it to the pokemon.

“Lavora. Fire type pokemon. It is extremely strong, and its body can generate enough heat to melt solid steel in less then a second. Avoided its claw, which are also made of flame.”

Akurei laughed. “You have a great pokemon! But… a name…” He stopped at Gemaside nudged him.
“His name is Ryu. He told me.” She pointed to Lavora.
“Thank you!” He looked at Ryu. “It would seem your name is Ryu…And before you ask, your Lavora knew.”
“Oh…” Ryu sighed gently.
“What’s wrong?”
“I need to get back home…”
Akurei thought a moment. “I have a feeling that you live at Inferno…” He shrugged. “Let’s get going, Ryu, guys. We have a long hike according to the map.” He gathered their things and starting walking to the path. He turned and slowly headed north, with Ryu, Gemside, Bedine, and Lavora talking behind him quietly. He glowered silently and plodded past trees of orange and yellow, reds and purples, and an occasional blue. It was so different then back home! He spotted a tiny blur beneath the trees and stopped. “Hey, wait!” He bolted after the pokemon. It ran so fast! He growled and continued after the pokemon. Suddenly, it fell to its side. Akurei recognized the yellow glow about him and mentally thanked Bedine. It ran next to it and threw a maxtraball. He grinned as it hit and jiggled, then finally fell silent. He walked over to the ball and picked it up. It shimmered lightly, and he threw it once again.
“Go… maxtraball!” It fell into the air and landed, cracking in two. A bright light brown flash, and out popped a…
“Uhh… What IS it?” He ultradex came out.

“Chameel. A rare pokemon. It will soon evolve.”

“And..?” Akurei said. It stayed silent.
“Ahh.. great!” He studied the pokemon. It had no legs. It looked like a worm and was green, had to see against the green of the grass. It would have been impossible if it hadn’t had a shimmery white gleam about it. He blinked as it crawled over to him and wound its way up his leg, and settled on his shoulder.

“Chameel!” Akurei noticed it now was black, like his shirt. He blinked.
“Chameel… Go onto that tree.” It crawled off of him and slid up a tree.
Where it promptly turned brown.
“Hey! You change colors! Cool.” He turned around to find Gemaside, Bedine, Lavora, and Ryu staring at him.
“Uhh… Akurei…. Who or What are you talking to?”
“Chameel, of course.”
“A Chameel? Pish Posh! Those are just fairy tales! A pokemon that is invisible to everyone except its trainer… yea right.”
Akurei grinned hard.
“You can’t see it, can you??” The pokemon and Ryu nodded. “OH awesome!!!!!” Akurei grinned foolishly and danced, picking Chameel up. “You’re an awesome pokemon.”
Chameel stared at him with skin-colored eyes and grinned a toothless smile.
It twined and sat on his shoulder and nudged his cheek.
“Chameel… Cham? Me meel Cham…” (Should we get going? I can tell you have to go somewhere…)
Akurei, somehow, instantly knew what it was saying! He blinked, but shrugged.
“Yea, guys let’s go.” He grinned and ran off down the path. Gemaside and Bedine stared at Ryu and each other.
“Is he losing his mind?” Ryu asked slowly.
Gemaside shook her head no, but to Bedine she said, “I think he might be though…” They all gave their version of a shrug, and followed Akurei after a moment, Ryu and Lavora behind them. Ryu watched the path carefully, wary of something. Lavora nuzzled him gently.
“Lavo, are.” (Ryu, don’t fear)
Ryu only smiled briefly. “I wish I could understand you… Like Akurei seems to…It looks like fun.” That’s when his feet shook with an earthshattering…
BOOM!

“No!!” Akurei fell back hard. Before him stood a huge pokemon, that seemed to be made out of onyx, or something like it. Black rock gleamed, with slivers of red that reminded him of the floor of the Triton City Centare. He stared at it, but Chameel only gave it’s toothless grin and snaked his way up to stand before the monster of a pokemon.
“Granight!” It bellowed its challenge.
“Chameel!” Chameel screamed back, but seemed to be ignored. Then, Ryu, Gemaside, Bedine, and Lavora were suddenly at his sides.
“Holy cow!!! THAT THING IS HUGE!” Indeed, it easily passed Onix’s height, maybe at least that and the height of a house. This thing blocked the sun, this…

“Granight. Pokemon of the onyx type. This pokemon is the world’s second largest pokemon. Its defense and attack are a record, but it is extremely slow and its special is also on record, for being the lowest.”

Akurei smirked.
“Chameel, think you can beat it?” He said to the tiny pokemon. It only nodded and looked back to Granight, who still hadn’t seen it. Maybe no one could see it…
“Ultradex! Moves for Chameel.”

“Moves: Camouflage, Diamond Reflection, and Poison drip.”

Akurei just sighed. Great, more moves he didn’t know.
“Uhh…” He started, but Granight was already in action. It threw half of its body over Chameel.
“NO!” But Chameel, tiny as it was, was slithering up through the cracks in Granight’s body. It seemed to leak out a trail of bright green where it moved.
“Poison… where is it coming from?” Bedine said in his mind.
“You wouldn’t believe me… I told you!”
Granight roared and opened its mouth, and rocks, sharp as a knife Akurei found out as one cut his arm painfully, shot out Chameel. Akurei held his arm and grunted.
“Chameel… use… uh…. Diamond Reflection!”
Chameel glowed as bright as the sun and let out a shriek. It slowly started to shift, and its form stretched. The light grew and grew, until finally, the light vanished.
“Oh… my god…” Akurei said in a hushed voice. Granight stared at Granight.
Chameel had… transformed! It opened its mouth to do something, and for a moment it seemed like it would mirror Granight’s move, but it held back a moment. It thought, then roared. From its mouth poured gallon after gallon of water! Akurei stared hard. It seemed that it could transform, and use what the other pokemon was weak against! No way!
“Uhh… Chameel… use… uh…. Something!!!”
Chameel smirked as best it could and sunk thick teeth of rock into Granight’s neck. Granight screamed and fell down, making the earth shake. Akurei laughed and tossed out a maxtraball as Chameel changed back to it’s normal self. Granight was sucked inside, and after almost a full minute, it stilled. Akurei fell to a knee as the pain of his wound hit him. But Chameel only came over and put its mouth over it, and started sucking. Akurei stared, but slowly, the pain went away. When Chameel pulled back, glowing, Akurei saw the wound was gone. He gasped. But a grunt from Chameel made him look up. It was bent in two and giving a shriek, but it glowed brightly. Akurei scooted back into Gemaside as Chameel stared to change. First, its skin turned into scales, and legs grew from its sides. It grew in size, to that of a tiger, and claws and teeth sprouted. It finally stopped. It looked like a huge cat with scales.

“Chamelion. That is all that is known, for no pokemon trainer has survived
long enough to get info on it.”

“Ummm… kuso!” He rolled to the side as Chamelion charged him. Akurei growled in his throat and stared at Chamelion till it looked up. Its eyes glowed bright red. Akurei simply stared, and inch by inch, Chamelion gave in and settled down. Ryu gasped.
“What… is… that?!”
“Chamelion…” Akurei could only say. Chamelion walked up to him, its head held high, cold eyes gleamed.
“So different then Chameel…” Akurei thought to himself. Chamelion only put his paw to Akurei’s chest, touched it briefly, then nudged the maxtraball it came from. Akurei got the idea but Ryu was trying to reach over and touch Chamelion. The pokemon turned, impossibly fast, and nipped at Ryu’s hand.
Ryu yelped and ran behind Lavora. Akurei chuckled and zapped Chamelion back into the maxtraball.
“Well… That was FUN!” Gemaside growled in his mind. She seemed pissed.
“WHAT WERE YOU TRYING TO DO!? GET YOURSELF KILLED?!”
Akurei winced away as her mind voice gave him a headache.
“Sorry…” Bedine sighed. He nudged Akurei side. “Look up there…” Akurei looked up to see a thick plume of smoke, bright blue in color, swirl its way into sky. He stared.
“Inferno…” He whispered as he gathered his stuff. Bedine shrugged and put himself back into his maxtraball, explaining that he didn’t want to walk anymore. Akurei laughed and hugged Gemaside to his chest. Ryu slipped up to stand beside him as they got back on the way to Inferno…
