Bedine growled softly, and butted Akurei in the ribs. Gemaside glared at the yellow pokemon darkly and called gently into Akurei’s mind.
“Akurei… Wake up…”
He stirred.
“Akurei… please… We are not safe here!”
He grumbled softly and opened his eyes, and yelped as the lights seemed painfully bright. He curled up tighter. Gemaside sighed.
“AKUREI GET UP!”
Akurei jumped to his feet in a flash, then seemed to get dizzy, and fell back down to his knees. Bedine moved under his and took his weight.
“Come on Gemaside! We’ve got to move! Something’s coming!”
“Ok Ok I know! Help me get him outside! Lift him!”
Together once again, Bedine lifted him up with his back, and Gemaside used her mind to lift. They ran for the open door, and to the forest. Behind them, they could hear the sounds of humans with pokemon on pieces of leather come running after them. They hurried into the deep forest, and slowly disappeared.

“Drop him off here, Bedine.”
“Ok… *grunt*….” He dropped Akurei to the ground with a thud.
Akurei let out a harsh sigh and so did Gemaside.
“His mind is hurting to bad… he may be unhelpable. We’ve got to get him somewhere safe.”
“Yes… I know Gemaside. I know! But… Where?”
She thought, and slowly stalked off towards the west.
“Follow me.”
He snorted and picked up Akurei, and slowly marched off with him towards Gemaside. When he got past the trees, he noticed they had come to a large mountain. The top was covered in thick fog. He snarled.
“What is that?”
“We must cross it to safety.”
“Fine… Fine!”
And they started towards the top.

About 5 hours later…

Gemaside slowly stepped out of the misty fog, onto a small rock. Below, a land spread out, it’s wings seeping into blue water. Many minds slipped to hers, and she blocked them. She looked back to see Bedine and Akurei come out of the fog, and she grinned.
“This should be fun, Bedine. A whole world undiscovered!”
She raised her head back and let out a howl let pierced the new land…

Bedine awoke and stretched out, standing up slowly and yawning. He glanced over to Gemaside, who slept curled up on her side, purring slightly. But… When he looked for Akurei, he blinked. Akurei sat a ways off, crouched back on his haunches. He walked over to Akurei and nuzzled him gently. Akurei turned to him and smiled, and hugged him tight.
“Hey, Bedine. You ok, big guy?”
“I’m fine, thanks. Are you ok?”
“Yep! I’m doing great. I feel much better. I don’t know how… but… in the middle of the night, I had this dream, that someone was calling out to me… healing me. When I woke up, I felt fine again. So… I scouted this place out. Did you know we are back in my world? This is Mt. Moon; I saw a cleafairy somewhere along the way. How did we get here?”
“I can answer that.” Gemaside’s higher voice sounded, “I made a portal to get us away… and we ended up here. I had wanted to go back to my den, but something went wrong. Someone… some*thing* interfered. Someone wanted us gone from my world… and they put us back into yours Akurei…” He growled.
“Damn! Someone is up to something… but who? Well… You guys are hurt… we need to get you to the pokemon center.”
“Ok… Ok… I can make a portal to get back, but we have to be careful. Are there any pokemon that look like us in the world?”
“Yes… For you, Gemaside, and Vulpix or Flareon is perfect. And for Bedine… yea, an Arcanine.”
“Do you have a picture of any of them on you?”
“Hai, I do!” He shuffled in his book bag and drew out the object from long ago. “This is a pokedex, in this world, it can identify any pokemon it sees.” He flipped the pokedex open. “Pokedex, can you please bring up and picture of Flareon?”
“Flareon, the fire pokemon.” The picture came up.
“Now show Arcanine.”
“Arcanine, the fire dog.” And its picture came up.
All of a sudden, there was a flash of bright light, and next to him, were two pokemon, a Flareon and an Arcanine!
“Gemaside!? Bedine!?”
“Right here.” The Flareon said in his mind.
“You two scared me sheesh! Well… come with me guys!”
And they started down the mountain, towards Cerulean City.

And they started down the mountain, towards Cerulean City. After so many hours, only with the help of a friendly cleafairy who knew him from long ago, they made it to the city. From the outside, it seemed normal, but as they slipped into a not well known side gate, a shimmering occurred. When they looked back, it looked like a shimmering curtain of silver covered the city in a dome. Akurei blinked in surprise.
“I wonder what that’s for!”
He got a pair of “I don’t know’s” from the two pokemon. He sighed quietly and walked into the pokemart.
“AKUREI!?”
He looked up to the counter.
“Juli!”
“I thought you were at the Indigo Plateau! I heard you are the pokemon master, and people have been trying to battle you!”
“Hrmmm… that’s hard to explain. Do you still have Pidgeot?”
“Yea, I do. You need him?”
“I need to get to the Plateau in a hurry! Can I please borrow him? You know I will take good care of him.”
She smiled. “Yea, I know.” She tossed him a pokeball. “He’s all yours for now. Hey… are those pokemon outside yours?! They are causing a whole bunch of trouble!”
“Ah!!! Damn them! Thanks sooooo much Juli! I’ll give him back asap!” And he bolted out the door.

“Vineplume! Vinewhip now!” Called a young lady with a bright red jacket, from which several badges hung.
“Arcanine…. Ummm….” He wasn’t sure. He glanced to Bedine/Arcanine, who nodded with a wink. “Flamethrower, NOW!”
Bedine/Arcanine spit out a huge blast of flame, with surrounded the Vineplume and tossed him away. The lady gasped and ran to her hurt pokemon, grabbed him, and ran away. Akurei smirked.
“You COULDN’T stay out of trouble, could you?!”
“Nope. That was fun.”
He sighed. “Come on you two,” He looked at Gemaside, who sat on the grass nearby. “We have to go to the Plateau. We can fly. Pidgeot! I choose you!”
The huge bird pokemon soared out and landed at his feet, glareing. Akurei simply showed him the master badge, and the bird straightened up. Akurei walked over and stradled the pokemon, and zapped Bedine back into his pokeball. He grabbed the annoyed Gemaside, who did NOT want to fly, and called.
“Pidgeot, fly!” And the bird took off into the blue sky. The clouds zipped past coldly. He steered Pidgeot to the Plateau, and hugged him thanks when they landed.
“Return!” And the bird was back in the pokeball.
As Juli had said, there were three trainers waiting for him.
“It’s about time you showed up!” Called an angry teen. Six pokeballs hung from his belt.
“We have been waiting so long!” Called a girl who could have been his sister.
“Yea…” Added the third boy quietly.
“Come on you guys. I’m here, so let’s battle!” He led them into the arena.
“You three will fight with two pokemon each. I will fight with one.”
They all smirked, thinking that he was going easy. The first boy came up to the stage and threw out his first pokemon.
“Gooooooo Raichu!” And the eletric pokemon jumped out, looking defensive.
Akurei thought a moment. In this form, he knew Bedine would still win.
“Be…Arcanine! I choose you!” And out he came.
“Thunder!”
“Flamethrower!”
Thunder and fire danced together. Raichu fell back, burnt.
“Rai… chu…” The pokemon said slowly.
The boy stared. “Uh… Raichu…. Use quick attack!”
The Raichu zoomed towards bedine, who simply sidestepped him and slash the pokemon on the side as it passed, knocking him out.
“I can’t believe that! Ummm…” The trainer thought. “I know! Blastoise! I choose you against this fire pokemon!”
Akurei smirked and told Bedine with his mind.
“Use a dash of electric in your attacks.”
“Ok.” Was the only reply.
“Water pump!”
Water rained down on Bedine, who, to all effects, fell to a knee.
“Hrmmm… Use…. Ember!”
“Ha! Fire won’t work against Blastoise!”
“I doubt that.” Akurei said as Bedine blasted Blastoise to the floor, a one-hit KO.
“I… lost…” The boy said sadly, and stepped down.
“Next!” Was all Akurei could say….

The girl stepped up and smirked.
“I know I’ll win! As daughter of Ash Ketchum, I call… PIKACHU!”
Akurei blinked hard. Bedine sat grooming himself, as if uncaring what pokemon came to him. Akurei smiled.
“Don’t be so sure, my little friend. My Arcanine here is special. Oh… by the way, is that first kid your brother?”
“Yea… His name’s Willow. And mine’s Maple. Willow evolved his Pikachu, but I think mine’s cuter this way, and faster.” She hugged the Pikachu on her shoulder. He smiled.
“Bedine… this is your fight. Have fun.” Is what he said. And Maple blinked.
“You’re going to just let him fight?” She asked confused.
“He can handle it.”
Her eyebrows rose and she shrugged.
“Ok… if you say so. Pikachu, agility now.”
The pokemon zoomed side to side then…
“Ummm… Pikachu?” She asked Pikachu as he froze.
Bedine’s eyes were glowing bright red.
"Glare?" She questioned, and Akurei nodded.
Bedine roared and sprang upon Pikachu, slashing the poor pokemon across the face and body. Pikachu yelped loudly, but slowly got up. Bedine just gave his grin and slipped behind the pokemon and cut off the tip of it’s tail with a single claw.
“Pikachu! Willow ran down and held the bleeding pokemon to her chest.
Akurei tossed her a potion.
“Heal it up.” She thanked him and did so. Her next pokemon out was nothing big, but strong…
“Uhhh… Machamp! I choose you!”
The huge bulked pokemon flared out. Bedine’s eyes glowed again, but Machamp came in a Low Kicked him. Bedine fell back with a snarl. He jumped up and sent out a burning tornado of fire that froze Machamp in place.
“All right, Bedine! Fire Spin!”
Machamp yelled, “MA……CHAMP!” And delivered a mighty chop onto Bedine’s back. Bedine fell once again with a huff of pain. He glowed for a brief second, and was fine again. Bedine did flamethrower, followed by a quick bite, and Machamp was down.
“You are very good, Willow. I hope you come back and do so well.”
“Yea… Thanks.” And she left.

Akurei looked to the last boy. He had stayed in the shadows and watched quietly. Akurei thought he saw a strange, intelligent gleam in his eyes, and smirked.
“What did Willow do wrong? To lose I mean?”
“Her Pikachu was fast, but not strong enough. She should have chosen Thunder first, then agility, perhaps. Then a leer and another Thunder. Her Machamp… he should use Seismic Toss first, then maybe tried a Submission.”
“Very good!” Akurei was surprised. “Now… let’s see how you fight!”
“Go, Flareon!” And Gemaside appeared with a gentle tap.
The boy eyed her a moment, then said quietly. “Onix, I choose you.”
Akurei was impressed again, a good choice!
“Onix, use Rock throw.”
The huge pokemon threw himself at Flareon, who simply dodged it until Onix fell back. The boy arched an eyebrow, but said. “Onix, use screech.” The rock pokemon let out an ear jangling noise that made Gemaside shake her head and woof lightly. “Onix, use earthquake.” The ground shook under Gemaside’s feet, making her sway violently, and fall as a huge piece of the floor hit her. She growled, lowering Onix’s attack, then roared her anger and used Quick Attack. Onix roared in pain.
Akurei smirked slowly.
“Flareon! Try using… Bubblebeam!”
The boy’s jaw dropped as Flareon shot out a spray of water that made Onix fall for the final time. Akurei walked to him.
“TM?” The boy inquired.
“Hai…you are very good…What’s your name.”
“My name… is Ash…” Ash’s eyes gleamed a moment, and Akurei thought he heard the wind rustling in the trees, or maybe a stir of the dead.
“Ash… I think you should watch over here until I come back.”
“I will, Master.”
Akurei chuckled. “*You* are the master now.” And he placed half of the master’s badge on Ash’s black jacket.
“Thank you…” Ash said as Akurei disappeared into the shadows, along with Gemaside and Bedine…
“We… will meet again, Ash.” And with a carefully toss, he threw Ash a golden pokeball.

Ash stared as Akurei left, his hands felt numb holding the pokeball. What was it? He called out, “Pokeball… go.” In his quiet voice. And from the pokeball, like a beam of power, stood Mewtwo… The one pokemon of its kind left in the world…

Akurei watched the setting sun set over Mt. Moon. It’s red and orange rays caressed his skin and seemed to make the two pokemon’s furs come alive like fire. A tear tinted his eye.
“I am going to miss this…”
Gemaside nuzzled him gently.
“No… you won’t. You will be able to pass between our worlds when you are the Master… I guess you could call it. The 5 masters of my world are dangerous… put the top one… has never been beaten.”
Akurei sighed. “Do you think I will win?”
Gemaside stared at the sun. “Hai, I do…” Her voice trailed off slowly.
Akurei hugged her, then hugged Bedine. “Let’s go guys… we need to get the to Aqua Gym…”
The two pokemon nodded, and their forms melted back to their own. Gemaside yipped softly into the setting sun, and a fiery black portal appeared. And Akurei jumped through it, Bedine following. Only Gemaside stayed a moment longer.
“He’s the one… but…”
She noticed the young man from the gym, Ash, standing nearby.
“Akurei will not be alone…” And she vanished into the portal…
