Episode 22 "Abra and the Psychic Showdown"
Ash, Misty, and Brock are traveling in the forest at night heading towards Saffron City to get a Marshbadge from Sabrina, the Saffron Gym leader. They reach a clearing and decide to see where they are. They see a little girl bouncing a ball, then run away. Ash and his friends run after her, and Ash runs right off a high cliff. As he is falling, he calls out Bulbasaur and has him use his vine whip to get Ash back to safety. Just as he gets up, they see the skyline of Saffron City. Ash and his friends run excitedly down toward the entrance. As they reach the entrance, two Hawaiian girls march up kiss him and tells him that he's the millionth visitor to Saffron City. Little does Ash know that these people are.....Jesse and James! They shove Ash and his friends on to a teleport tile, which takes them to a room with no windows or doors. Rocket takes Pikachu and puts themselves on a tv screen and do a "Team Rocket Show". The little girl Ash met in the woods appears and paralyzes TR and gives Pikachu back to Ash and teleports Ash and his friends back to the entrance.
The next day, Ash is on his way to Sabrina's gym and he talks to a man that tells him that Sabrina's psychic type Pokemon are too dangerous for him. Ash does not listen and goes to Sabrina's gym. When he gets there, he sees people using telekinesis to bend a spoon with their mind. Ash is greeted by a psychic who escorts him to Sabrina's room. Surprisingly, one half of Sabrina is that little girl who rescued Pikachu. Sabrina sends out Abra and Ash sends out Pikachu. Pikachu tries to shock Abra, but it keeps teleporting away. After a while, Abra evolves into Kadabra. Kadabra attacks Pikachu with it's Psychic attack and Pikachu is hurt. After Ash loses, Sabrina teleports them to her toy doll house. Sabrina, the little girl throws her ball at them, but the man who told Ash not to challenge Sabrina, pops up and teleports them to the outside of the Gym. The man explains to Ash about Sabrina's past and how it affected her life. Ash doesn't know that this man is Sabrina's father. He tells Ash that the only way to beat Sabrina is to capture a ghost Pokemon from Lavender Town. Ash and his friends head for Lavender Town to catch a ghost Pokemon.

Episode 23 "Tower of Terror"
Ashco finally reach Lavender Town, their goal here is to capture a ghost Pokemon to defeat Sabrina and earn a marshbadge. As they head through this spooky, quiet town, they notice a wierd looking tower. As figures it is where ghost pokemon can be found. Ashco goes inside the tower. It is very dark in there so Ash calls out Charmander to light the way. Meanwhile, in the basement, Team Rocket is planning an assult. Ash sees a hole in the floor so he goes to investigate. They hear noises, so Ash has Charmander use Flamethrower to see what's down there. Charmander accidentally sets Jesse's hair on fire and she runs in circles screaming. Ashco sprints out the door and decides to go back the next night. The next night, Ash (Just Ash) goes inside Pokemon Tower and heads into a kitchen. As soon as they get in there, the plates, silverware, and chairs float up and "attack" Ash. Suddenly three ghost Pokemon appear, Gastly, from "The Ghost of Maiden's Peak", Haunter, the evolved form of Gastly, and Gengar, the evolved form of Haunter. They chase him into the living room. The ghostly trio now tries to make Ash laugh, which they fail and cry.
Then, a chandelier falls on Ash and he is knocked out. The ghostly trio pull Ash's "ghost out of him and take him flying out of the tower and high above Lavender Town. By this point, Misty and Brock are getting worried about Ash and go inside to see if he's okay. Then after his flight, the ghostly trio takes Ash to a play room in the tower. Ash suddenly realizes he must return to his body. As Ashco leaves depressed because he didn't capture a ghost pokemon, Haunter begins to follow him. Ash asks Haunter if he would help Ash battle Sabrina and Haunter agrees. Ashco then heads back to Saffron City.

Episode 24 "Haunter vs. Kadabra"
Ashco has just "captured" Haunter, and are heading back to Saffron City from Lavender Town. Ash heads into Sabrina's gym and challenges her to a match. Sabrina sys she chooses Kadabra and Ash chooses Haunter. Unfortunately, Haunter has disappeared. Sabrina, this time transforms Misty, and Brock into dolls and puts them in her dollhouse.Ash leaves the gym and decides to take a walk and he runs in to Sabrina's father.Once again, he shows Ash pictures of Sabrina as a child. Ash figures out that this man is a photographer. After a while, Ash finds Haunter messing around with Team Rocket. Whom he makes fall down a skyscraper. He takes Haunter back to the gym and challenges Sabrina to another match. Again, Haunter is gone. Sabrina is just about to transform Ash into a doll, when Pikachu volunteers to go in and battle for Ash. Pikachu manages to shock Kadabra, but he recovers. After Pikachu being thrown around pretty badly, Ash forfits. Then, Haunter appears and starts to try and make Sabrina laugh. After about the third attempt, Sabrina cracks a smile, the she bursts out with laughter. Kadabra, as well, is rolling on the floor with laughter. Ash then leaves the Gym, heading toward Celadon City with a Marshbadge.

Episode 25 "Primeape Goes Bananas"
Ash calls Prof. Oak and he tells Ash that his rivals are ahead and he's falling behind. So Ash decides he's DEFINATELY going to catch a new Pokemon. As Ashco is heading toward Celadon City, he hears a Pokemon in the bushes, it turns out to be Mankey. Ash decides he's going to capture it. As bait, Ash gives Mankey one of Brock's doughnuts. While Mankey is eating, Ash throws a Pokeball at it. Mankey throws the doughnut at the Pokeball and Ash captures a doughnut. Mankey then chases Ascho through the path and beats up Ash. Mankey then steals Ash's hat. While Ash is trying to get his hat back, Team Rocket drops in and tries to steal Pikachu. Mankey gets in their way, and James kicks him. Mankey then evolves into Primeape and chases TR down the path. Primeape loses TR and goes after Ash. Meanwhile, further along the trail, TR is digging a hole to trap Pikachu in. Instead, Ash and Primeape falls in, and Primeape beats up everyone. Ash gets really ticked and he calls out Charmander to battle Primeape. After getting beaten up badly, Charmander uses his Rage attack, burning Primeape to a crisp. Ash then throws a Pokeball at Primeape and captures him. Then, Ash shows TR his new Pokemon and "blasts them off again". TR then falls in a clearing, where a herd of Primeapes wait.

Episode 26 "Pokémon Scent-sation"
Ashco is still in Celadon City, searching for the gym. Misty sees a perfume shop and wants to go in. Ash says a few things about prfume that does not please the owner. She kicks them out and they head towards the gym. When he gets to the gym, the leader, Erika doesn't let him in because of what he said about perfume. The Gym Leader is the owner of the perfume shop. Team Rocket helps him get in by dressing him up as a girl. Erika then takes her out in back and tells stories. She tells the story of her Gloom, how she found it, how good friends they are. Then, Pikachu blows Ash's cover and he challenges Erika to a match. He defeats he Tangela and Weepinbell. During the battle with her Gloom, Team Rocket strikes and sets the gym on fire. They manage to rescue all the Pokemon, except Gloom. Ash runs in the burning gym, saves Gloom, and walks away from Celadon City with Erika's Rainbowbadge.

Episode 27 "Hypno's Naptime"
Ashco finally reaches a city curiously called Hop-Hop-Hop town. They stop at the Pokemon center and are told that since 3 days ago, the Pokemon there have been incredibly weak. Officer Jenny also tells them that sleep waves have come from the top of a skyscraper. They are what's causing the Pokemon to be weak. Not only that, but kids have been disappearing. Ashco heads to the top of the skyscraper and finds a mansion. Ash barges in and sees a Drowzee and a Hypno, the evolved form of Drowzee. Ash discovers the Hypno is the source of the sleep waves. And that their Drowzee evolved 3 days ago. So they develop a theory that Drowzee's powers will counteract Hypno's. Ashco takes Drowzee to the park, where the missing kids were and brings them back to normal. However, guess who made an appearence to try and steal Hypno! Yup! Team Rocket! Hypno uses his Hypnosis and TR blasts off again. Drowzee is taken to the Pokemon center and the Pokemon are fully healed.

Episode 28 "Pokémon Fashion Flash"
Ashco, still in Celadon City, comes across a road called Scissor street. Brock is excited about finding a certain breeding center here. When he finds it they go inside. Misty gets bored and decides to check things out across the street, where a crowd is gathering. It ends up being a Pokemon Beauty Salon. Misty goes inside and gets her face and hair done. She starts bragging.
Meanwhile back at the other Breeding Center, which is called Susie's, Susie is showing Brock and Ash around.Brock sees a Vulpix sitting on a chair. He looks at it for a while and then they sit down to lunch. Vulpix comes over and talks to Pikachu, then rubs against Brock.Back at the Pokemon Beauty Salon, she is being tied up by the owners. Which happen to be Team Rocket.
Psyduck comes out of his Pokeball and tells Pikachu about it. Ash and Brock go over to check things out and TR tells them that either Ash gives them Pikachu and they give Misty back, or they keep Pikachu and they keep Misty. Susie then comes in with Vulpix and tells him to use Fire Spin. Team Rocket blasts off again and they exit Celadon City.

Episode 29 "The Punchy Pokémon"
As soon as they head down the road Ash sees a Hitmonchan, Ash tries to catch it by making Pikachu fight it. Pikachu uses boxing gloves and tries to knock out Hitmonchan, it fails and he takes Pikachu out then the Hitmonchan's trainer comes out and talks about a expo. The expo is for Pokemon trainers who want to become a fighting champ, but you must use fighting Pokemon only Ash enters. Team Rocket enters by stealing a trainers Hitmonlee and hides in disguise, Ash starts off the first match with Primeape v.s Machop. Machop knocks him down with seismic toss, but Primeape wins by using fury swipes.
Team Rocket's Hitmonlee fights the guys Hitmonchan but, Meowth cheats and put's glue under Hitmonchan's foot Hitmonlee beats him. Brock then some how get's in with Geodude, but Team Rocket's Hitmonlee easily beats him. Now its Primeape v.s Hitmonlee Jesse and James put a mini bomb under Priemape's corner, as the fight goes Primeape finishes off Hitmonlee with thrash. Then right before the bomb goes off Pikachu finds it, and gives it to Team Rocket BOOM! In the end the Hitmonchan trainer offers to fully train with Ash's Primeape and for some reason, Ash releases Primeape and then leaves as Primeape became the fighting champ.

Episode 30 "Sparks Fly for Magnemite"
Ash and his friends enter a new yet horrible town called Gringy city, where smoke stacks and pollution are everywhere. Before they leave considering there is no gym Ash sees that pikachu is acting strange, his head is red and he barely has any electricity in him. But he has enough to zap Ash on accident when he tries to pick Pikachu up, behind them a stalker watches and smiles at the sight of this shocking scene. Down beneath the sewer Jesse and James are swimming in slime proof suits , trying to get Pikachu from underneath while Meowth stays in a machine keeping him safe from the smell. Up on the surface Ash rushes Pikachu to Nurse Joy who tells him that Pikachu has a cold, which means his electricity is on the fritz. Then a black out occurs shutting all power down including, the energy powered air tanks that Jesse and James wear TR then goes up to the top to get some air. Nurse Joy then tells the gang to hurry and help find the source of the black out, because if it stays black all the Pokemon in the center under intensive care will die.
Ash and the gang leace for the plant but he leaves Pikachu to get some rest, but as they walk in Pikachu followed them inside. As they go on Misty freaks and says something is chasing them, none of the guys believe her until they see it right behind Pikachu. When they look harder they see its a Pokemon Dexter tells Ash its a Magnemite, Misty then thinks he caused the black out while the other guys watch Magnemite circle Pikachu. It blushes at Pikachu's sparks and Brock says that he is in love with Pikachu, Ash tells Magnemite to stop he does and runs quickly away they find out why when it comes out of the air vents. They hold their noses as they see a pile of smelly Grimers Dexter says they are living sludge, Brock and Ash be quiet so they don't insult there Pokemon pride with their smelly remarks but Misty yells it all out. Now angry the Grimers get mob like when the leader Muk comes out behind them, Dexter tells them to watch out because of the posion inside Muk's slimy body. The Grimers attack as the gang runs away bumping into the power plant controllers, they take everyone to the control room and try to keep the Grimers out as they explain that if the Grimers don't leave the power will never go back on. Because they are clogging the intake valves so pikachu goes solo and tries to stop the Grimers as they break in, his zaps take out 1 Grimer because of the cold then the Magnemite and a whole army of Magnetons come in and zap off the Grimers.
The Magnetons continue chasing off the Grimers but Ash finds the Muk still around, then both Pikachu and Magnemite team up and zap Muk out Ash throws his Pokeball and catches Muk. When the gang leaves Ash is worried because the smell goes threw the Pokeball but Pikachu is cured, but Magnemite ignores him now the power guys say that when Pikachu had a cold its body was magnetized Magnemite fell in love with that magnetisim. And now that its gone he stops stalking Pikachu before they leave, Nurse Joy and officer Jenny tell Ash that thanks to him beating the Grimer they will now clean up their city. But TR comes out of the clean sea on a Gyarados disguised submarine, with a huge magnet attached to it they hope to magnetize Pikachu but since its gone they magnetize the Magnetons which pulls them on to the ship sinking it with them. Meanwhile P. Oak is happy to get a new Pokemon from Ash at his lab, but when Muk arrives he asks "What's the idea of sending me a Muk?"

Episode 31 "Dig Those Digletts"
Ash and his friends are just coming out of Gringy city when they see a construction site by a river. The person in charge of this project comes over and tells Ash that their project is being interfered by digletts, A mole Pokemon. Gary comes along and brags a while, then calls out his Pokemon to battle the Digletts. They don't come out. Ash then realizes that the Digletts (and Dugtrios) are only protecting their home. The construction project is cancelled and Ash and his friends go to their next gym.

Episode 32 "The Ninja Poké-Showdown"
The group finds a strange looking mansion sized ninja style building. They explore it and encounter various traps. They eventually meet a girl who battles Ash. Ash wins with Bulbasaur and then her master comes out. They discover that this is the Fuchsia gym and Ash battles the master for the soul badge. They fight for a while and Team Rocket shows up as usual. This time dressed up for an ancient performance. They get out of their dress and fight for Pikachu. They are beaten by Misty's Psyduck, then Ash and Koga continue their match. Ash wins the soul badge and then they leave the gym continuing on their quest.

Episode 33 "The Flame Pokémon-athon"
Ash reaches the Safari Zone. They see a herd of Tarous. Ash sends Pikachu to knock a few out, but Pikachu won't do it so Ash calls Charmander. Just then a Growlithe lands on Charmander so Ash asks Charmander to weaken it. Then Ash discovers that Growlithe is fire type, too. Just as he was about to send Squirtle, a girl named Laura and her Ponyta land on Ash. Brock, as usual, has a crush on her and Laura explains that this place was a Pokemon ranch. Just then a kid named Dario speeds up with his Dodrio and tells Laura that he was gonna win the big Pokemon race tommorow. misty thinks hes a jerk. Later somthing happened to spook all the Pokemon. Growlithe settles them down and just then a "silver thingamajig" scares Ponyta and Laura falls down and breaks her arm. It's discovered that Team Rocket's working for Dario so he can win the race and they can join the Larami Clan and make big bucks. Laura asks Ash to ride Ponyta for him but since Ponyta will burn anyone but Laura. Ash got burnt. Laura scolds Ponyta and Ponyta gets used to Ash. On the day of the race, Ash is ready. As soon as they start, Dario pulls ahead of everyone. Then Team Rocket fires a bullet that hurts a Tauros and the Tauros hurts a Nidorina. So two are elimanated. Then at the Uphill Climb (the first obstacle), as they were going downhill, an Electrode pulls ahead by rolling down the hill. but Team Rocket dug a hole and Electrode falls into it and explodes. It destroys every thing including Ash and Ponyta but Pikachu shocks them and they get back on their feet. The next obstacle is crossing the river. Pokemon had to jump across rocks to get to the other side. A lot of Pokemon lost there, including Brock. Only Starmie, Squirtle, Dodrio and Ponyta are left. Then each Pokemon had to eat a bowl of food and then black smoke filled the arena. Somehow it pulled away. Then comes the boring part of team rocket saying there motto. Then Squirtle and Pikachu are blinded and Starmie is also. Ponyta attacks Team Rocket and they blast off. Only Dodrio and Ponyta are left. Ponyta seems to be losing when he evolves into Rapidash and beats Dodrio. Then Laura shows them where the Safari Zone really is and they journy onward. Meanwhile Dario tells Team Rocket they are the worst. Jessie says that if they plan better and give the smelly bird a bath, they could win next year. when Dodrio heard this he pecked Team Rocket.

Episode 34 "The Kangaskhan Kid"
Ash and his friends finally reach the Safari Zone. Or what they think is the Safari Zone. Ash sees a Chansey, but as soon as he throws a Pokeball, Officer Jenny popped up and arrested them. She takes them back to the station and tells them that they are on a Pokemon Preservation Area. Jenny gets a call that there are poachers in the area. Ashco offers to help, and they discover that the poachers are none other than Team Rocket poaching Kangaskaskahn. After benig scared by TR, the Kangaskahn charge toward Ashco and Officer Jen. They manage to get away, but the engine overheats. TR captures the Kangaskahn, but Tomo, the protector of the Kangaskahn, releases them. Then, a helicopter comes and a couple claims they lost their boy, Tommy, in here. Jenny tells them that she knows their kid, which is Tomo and that she knows where he lives. They find their son, but Tomo, or Tommy, doesn't remember. TR comes back as a gigantic, robotic Kangaskahn and puts all the Kangaskahn too sleep. Tomo and Ashco and Officer Jen team up. Tommy's parent's helicopter crashed into the Kangaskahn and TR blasts off again. Luckily, their parents survived the crash and they live together with the Kangaskahn.
