Chapter 3

“Really?” I reply.
“Yeah! You can’t find wild Hypnos.”
“What? Well I found this Hypno in the middle of the road on the way to Viridian City.”
“Huh? That doesn’t really make sense. Maybe his trainer abandoned him or maybe there are wild Hypnos and we could have never seen them before.”
“Wow! We may never know. Well I got to go! Bye Professor.”
“By Jewel. Best wishes and good luck.”
I look down and smile. It always seemed that Professor Oak liked me the best and even his grandson had a crush on me. Yeah Gary. The self-centered guy. He had a crush on me. It was only when I wasn’t around that he acted self-centered. When I was around he almost acted normal. Oh-well. I better head off to Pewter City and get that special badge.
I get on my bike and ride into Viridian Forest. I see a Vulpix prancing around and I get off my bike and point my pokéwatch at it and press the button it beeps and says,

‘Vulpix-a flame pokémon
At the time of birth it has one tail, but it
splits from the tips as it grows older.
It evolves into Ninetales with a Firestone.’

“Okay! I’ll catch it. Hypno go! Use you Psychic attack.” It hits Vulpix with much force that it renders the Vulpix unconscious. “Pokéball go!”
The pokéball hits Vulpix and she is sucked in. The ball stops wiggling and the red light goes out.
“Yeah! I got Vulpix.” I pick up the pokéball triumphantly. “What?” I say as the Vulpix breaks out of the pokéball. “Why aren’t you in your pokéball?” Vulpix comes up to me and climbs on my shoulder. She says something and surprisingly I understand. She says that she hates being inside pokéballs. “Well,” I say to her, “I guess I’ll have to carry you.” Vulpix jumps to the ground and says to me that she wants to rest a little bit, which I think is an excellent idea. I call out all my other pokémon and let them all talk and eat while I rest. In about fifteen minutes they were full and content I called all of them back and pick up Vulpix.
I started towards my bike when I herd a voice behind me saying, ”I challenge you to a pokémon match.” I turn around to find Gary standing there with pokéball in hand.

Chapter 4

Gary took a good look at me then blushed.
“Yeah!”
“Yeah what?”
“You challenged me to a pokémon battle so I want to battle.”
“I didn’t know what it was you.”
“What? You afraid I’m gonna beat you? That your CRUSH is gonna beat ya.”
“What? Never! Let’s battle. Ivysaur, I choose you!”
I take out my pokéball containing Charmander and it enlarges. I throw it while saying “Go Charmander! Use your Ember attack.” Ivysaur is hit with a burst of fire making him faint. “Gary you’ll have to better then that.”
“Poliwhirl, I choose you!’
“Charmander scratch attack.” Charmander scratches Poliwhirl injuring him a little bit.
“You need a lesson in pokémon battling. Poliwhirl Bubblebeam attack.” Poliwhirl hits Charmander with a blast of water and Charmander almost faints.
“Charmander return.” I say but Charmander dodges the red beam. He looks back and shakes his head no. He then lunges at Poliwhirl and uses Slash and makes Poliwhirl faint.
“I lost? How can it be?”
“Charmander! What’s wrong? Oh you’re evolving!” A white light circles Charmander and the followed by a red light. It all churns around him then dies off to reveal that Charmander evolved into Charmeleon. “Wow Charman… I mean Charmeleon. Cool! Okay Charmeleon return!” I say. I pick up Vulpix and stroke her shiny coat.
“Congratulations! I have a lot to learn. What other pokémon do you have?”
“Well I have a Growlithe, a Hypno, a Charmeleon and…”
“I know! That Vulpix.” He says pointing to my Vulpix. He comes and pets her. Vulpix uses Flamethrower on Gary.
“I’m sorry. Vulpix is like that. She doesn’t like or trust anyone but me.”
“Oh, well why don’t you catch others? What about pidgey or weedle? There are so many more pokémon out there. Why don’t you catch more?”
“Well I’m going to take over the Cinnabar Island Gym and have all the fire pokémon in the world.”
“Wow but why don’t you want to be pokémon master?”
“Because all my life I have loved fire pokémon and always wanted to be the best and have all of the fire pokémon. It’s been my dream.”
“Okay! Good luck.”
I whisper to myself as he walks away. “He’s cute when he’s not self-centered but that’s almost never.” My Vulpix yawns as she settles in my arms. I turn around and walk to my bike.
