Chapter 31

“Jewel…” Scott calls to me. I open up my eyes to see a rocky land mass under my feet. I turn around as something touches my shoulder. I look there to see Vulpix with the same look of disbelief about where we are. Scott walks up next to me, “…are we on Earth?”
I look away from the ground to Scott’s face; “I don’t know Scott. I wish I did but I don’t.” His face turns away from mine. I look at him and turn to see what he’s looking at. A bright sun rises before us and I realize that were on Earth.
“Is this Earth?” he asks again looking at me. I look around to see greenery of all sorts.
I nod my head and reply, “Yeah… I’m finally home again but this time I have you.” I smile at him and he smiles back.
“Can we get going?”
“Yeah.” I look at where we are standing and decide it would be easiest to get on flying pokémon because we are on a steep mountain. “Go Guarden!” My pokémon appears in front of me and I get on its back. I look back at Scott and ask him, “Want a ride?”
“No thanks… Got my own.” He pulls out a pokéball and out of it comes a pokémon I do not know. I pull out my green pokédex and point it at the creature.

Hoverer – the hovering pokémon
This pokémon has special chemicals in its
body that keeps it levitated above the ground.
This pokémon grows rather quickly and is hard to
find. It does not evolve but does grow to be huge.

“Wow! Were did you get him?”
“You’re not the only trainer around here.” I smile as he hops on his pokémon. The pokémon comes up to about my waist and it is dark blue in color. It has small beady eyes that are constantly looking around. Its tiny feet don’t touch the ground that is about two feet below them. We head off towards the ground and reach it in no time at all. Scott has his pokémon return and I do the same. I pull Vulpix off my shoulder and cuddle her in my arms. She smiles and licks my face. She slowly falls asleep in my arms as Scott and I walk though a forest.
“This place is great! I can’t believe you almost didn’t come back.”
“Yeah, that would have been a big mistake. I forgot how much I love this place.” We reach a dirt path and turn onto it. Lots of pokémon prance around the ground and in the trees. They seem so happy that I decide not to capture any. My feet grow tired from walking because I hadn’t walked like this in a long time. The sun beats down on my back making me feel worse.
“Could we take a break? My feet are killing me!”
“Sure. By any chance do you know where we are?”
“I don’t because this is such a big world but we’ll find out soon enough. How about we rest over there?” I suggest pointing to a nice area in the shade. He nods his head in agreement so we turn and walk to it. I sit down, lean against a tree, and sigh with relief. Scott does the same but directly across from me. We look at each other for awhile and then I glance down at Vulpix. She had been sleeping the whole trip, which is extremely unusual for her to do. I shake her in hopes she is just tired. She doesn’t even stir as I move her from my arms onto the ground. She lies on the ground taking small shallow breaths of air. I feel her forehead and it is unusually warm. I look through my backpack to find a handkerchief. I call out Vaporeon and have her wet the cloth slightly. Very carefully I place to her head and she begins to stir. Alive yet not well I pick her up and hold her in my arms.
“Scott, my Vulpix is very sick. She shows all the signs of the worst type of fever. I must get her to a pokémon center immediately or she’ll die. I would cure her here but I don’t have any of the right potions.”
“I understand but we don’t even know where we are! How are you going to find a pokémon center?”
“They’re everywhere! I’ll I have to do is keep going along this road and I’ll come across one soon. I’m going to ride Rapidash and since she doesn’t trust you I must go by myself. Curing Vulpix could take several hours and maybe even several days depending on how long she’s been like this. I really need to get going. Do you have a fast moving pokémon?”
“No but I can catch up with you or I could stay here.”
“I guess stay here… First let’s see if I can get Rapidash to trust you.” I throw the ball and Rapidash appears in front of me. “Rapidash, this is important. I need you to let Scott ride on you. Vulpix is in serious trouble.” Rapidash looks at my arms and sees Vulpix lying there. She knows how serious it is and nods her head slowly. I smile and look at Scott.
“Let’s get going Scott.” We climb on and take off on the road. After riding a long time we come across nothing. We are still riding as the sunsets. I pull on the rains and Rapidash turns sideways. I look down the road we had just ridden on and the road ahead. “This is so weird. I can’t believe we haven’t seen a pokémon center yet!”
Out of the shadows a voice says, “You’re expecting to find a pokémon center on my island? What fools! That would be such a waist of space!”
“Who are you? Where are we?”
“You mean you don’t know where you are?”
“That’s why I asked because I don’t know!”
“Temper, temper! Well you’re on my island. Why do you want a pokémon center?”
“My Vulpix is terrible ill and needs treatment right away. I must hurry or she’ll die and I can’t stand to think of that! You must help me!” Someone walks forward out of the shadows and I look at the person before me. A somewhat handsome guy stands before me. He has dirty blond hair that is covered by a hat and is really tall. Darkness falls and so I can only see his outline from the light put off by my Rapidash.
“I hate to say this but follow me. I can take care of your Vulpix.” My Rapidash follows him into the forest. I lean forward onto Rapidash’s neck and there I fall asleep from exhaustion with Vulpix still in my arms.

It burns… I can’t breath… Help someone… Help me please!

Chapter 32

“Jewel wake up. We’re here.” I sit up and a bright light is before me. I slowly open my eyes to see the sun rising once again. I still sit on Rapidash as I look around. I see a few buildings around us and glance at the one we’re next to. A rather tall building that is no different then the others except for its height. I slowly climb off of Rapidash and have her return. I notice Vulpix is in the worst condition ever seen. I try not to think of something I had read in a book. The book said that no pokémon had pulled out of this stage alive. A tear comes to my eye as I enter the building. I am surprised at the medical technology that surrounds me.
“Put your Vulpix here,” the guy says to me. He points to a table in the middle of the room. I slowly walk towards it I put my Vulpix there. I look up at the kind person who has decided to help us today. I can finally see him now that we’re inside and amazingly he doesn’t look tired considering that he’d been walking the whole night. His attention is focused solely on my Vulpix.
“Please leave as I work on regenerating your Vulpix. I’ll call you when I’m done.” He looks up from his work and I notice a bit of annoyance in his gray-blue eyes. I also see certain sadness and concern in them that make me reluctantly turn around and walk outside. I walk straight into the forest where I call out some of my fire pokémon. They crowd around me in hope they can cheer me up. I grin at the kindness of them and then become sad again as I think of Vulpix – my friend and guardian.
“Jewel?”
“I’m over here Scott.” He follows my voice to where I am and sits down next to me. I sadly glance over at him as he sits there. The guy that I pictured in my dreams bumped into me one day and here he is, still sitting next to me, being my companion, my friend. So fortunate and lucky to have him with me yet some how I don’t think I deserve him.
“Jewel…” he takes my hand and holds it in his, “…Vulpix is going to get through this. I know she is.”
“Thanks Scott. It means a lot to my that you’re here, with me.” I take a breath and decide to ask something that had been plaguing me. “Scott?”
“Yeah? What is it?”
“Scott I was wondering, why do you stay with me, by my side?”
“Why wouldn’t I, Jewel? I mean how could I not stay with such a talented, beautiful person such as you?” My mouth opens and I look at him. I lean over and give him a hug because I’m too flustered to do anything else. I have all my pokémon return and we stand up. I give him one last hug before we head back to the building hand in hand.

“This is taking to long!” I reply after waiting for two more hours.
“Jewel, you have to be patient. These treatments are not instant. They take awhile and we’ll just have to be patient.”
“But I have to know how she’s doing! It’s driving me insane and I don’t know how to cope anymore! I have to sit down.” Instead of walking around and finding a place to sit I just pluck down. Scott leans down next to me and his arms wrap around me. I look up at him with a smile on my face and he knows he’s helped me cope with this for about an hour at the most.
“Thanks Scott.” I look down towards the ground and something catches my eye. I reach over a pick it up surprised to see a small yet very valuable coin. I look it over to see if it is forfeit and I’m astonished that it’s not. If this is what the person who helped us has he must be rich. The coin is made of pure silver, which is very hard to find, and it has the most intricate designs carved into it. I pull my bag around and put it in the front of my bag. I decide to call out a pokémon to help comfort me.
“Growlithe?” I ask my pokémon as it appears in front of me. He looks around and sees me within seconds. He leaps towards and pummels onto me. I laugh as he starts to lick my face. I push him off my upper body so I can sit up. He immediately curls up in my lap and I pet his head. Just having a pokémon that I can pet and have in my arms made me feel better. I push Growlithe completely off me and I lay down on the ground. He comes and I hold him close to me. My arm is wrapped around him and my face buried in his fur. I like this I slowly fall asleep.

“Jewel, come on. He’s done treating Vulpix.”
“Hmmm…” I reply still half asleep. “Really?” I reply as I what he just said sinks in.
“Yeah come on!” He reaches his hand and I take it. He pulls me up off my feet and I look down to notice Growlithe slowly getting up. I kneel down and pet him on his head the have him return into his pokéball. Then I replace Growlithe’s pokéball in the pouch with the rest of my other pokéball and Scott and I walk inside. Vulpix is the first thing I see as I walk in and she is still lying down on the table in the middle of the room. I rush up to her to see how sees doing.
The stranger stands next to me and says, “She’ll be fine in a few days as long as she doesn’t go in a pokéball. The fever was very serious and if I had not seen you would have lost her-“
“Thank you so much!” I lean over and give him a hug. “My world would not be secure if she did not survive this.”
He pulls away from my hug as soon as he sees the expression on Scott’s face. “Your welcome. I almost didn’t help you because I thought you were people here for my pokémon. This island is mine like I said before and it’s a refuge for many rare pokémon. Tons of them live here because they don’t want to be caught but lots of people come here to steal them away. Why are you guys here anyways?”
“We just came back from the sky dimension and the lady teleported us here.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. Hey, can I hold Vulpix?”
“Sure… I can’t believe I haven’t introduced myself yet. I’m Neo, Neo Draco.” Before picking up my pokémon I look the person over once again. He has a hat on, possibly the same one he was wearing when we first met him. It looked like the hat from the Pokémon League that you could win if you sent in postcard except for the fact that instead of it being red and white it’s black and white and the simple design on the front is green. He wears a light navy blue shirt covered by a black vest. He also wears olive green pants.
“I’m Jewel and that jealous person over there is Scott. I’m pleased to meet you.”
“Same here.” I reach forward and pick up Vulpix ever so carefully. I smile down at my pokémon.
“Jewel. There is something about your Vulpix I think you should know.”
“What?” I look up from Vulpix with a puzzled look on my face. I hope it’s not something bad.
“She’s to a point where she should be evolved. She’s extremely powerful for someone of her size and soon she will begin to show it. This doesn’t happen to many pokémon because either there trainers evolve them or they don’t get train enough for something bad to happen. In a time of urgency or battle she may collapse and die-“
“But I don’t want to loose her or evolve her.”
“There’s not much of a choice.”
“I know… I’ll see how she feels about it when she wakes up. I’m not going to make a choice until then.” I look back at Vulpix and frown at the thought of not having her anymore but having a different bigger pokémon. Why did things like this happen always to us?
