Chapter 15

“A Growlithe! Ha! We can beat them! Misty calls Poliwhirl!”
“Ha, I’m not as easy as you think! Growlithe get that Poliwhirl with your Bite attack!” Growlithe lunges at it and bites it furiously. The Poliwhirl squirms but Growlithe would not let go. Slowly Poliwhirl gives up and Misty calls it back.
“That’s one cheap move!” Misty calls out to me taking out a different pokéball. “The only thing is I don’t think you can beat this one!” Misty throws the pokéball and a Starmie appears. “Use your Hydro Beam now!” She screams! A hard blast comes out from Starmie and hits my Growlithe really hard and he faints.
“Oh Growlithe! Here, return! I call forth Ponyta,” I say throwing the pokéball. Ponyta appears in front of me as I place the empty pokéball back in my bag. I scream, “Ponyta use your Fire Erupt!” My Ponyta Erupts into flames and tackles the high-level Starmie. The Starmie is knocked down but gets back up almost unhurt.
“Starmie fight back with Water Wind attack!” Water swirls around the Starmie replenishing all of the life the Starmie had lost before. Once all of its life had been restored it left Starmie creating a massive tornado of water.
“Ponyta-Jump over it then use Stomp!” Ponyta jumps on Starmie and over the water tornado. She then turns around and trusts it up into the air. It moves back and finally hits the Starmie right in its jewel. Starmie then flies up against the wall and it faints.
“Huh? I lost?” she asks disappointed. She looks at Starmie and holds up a pokéball. “Starmie Return!” She puts away her pokéball and then walks towards Ponyta, Vulpix, Meowth, and I. “You earned this,” she says opening up her hand. She holds up the special and then places it in my hand.
“Wow,” I say gaping at the badge, “thanks!” I look up at Misty happy that I had finally earned my second special badge.
“I still can’t believe I lost to your fire pokémon. With your training abilities and your pokémon you could be the number one pokémon master and honestly being a gym leader is boring. I was out fishing today because I was totally bored!”
“Oh,” I say looking down. I look up with a little hope in my eyes and say, ”Can I use my special badges to enter the Pokémon league?”
“Yeah! There’s one more thing that I’m not supposed to tell you but I think that you will really need to know about it. It’s that if you decide to battle Blaine for his gym and loose he gets all of your special badges. Then if you want to enter the Pokémon League you have to go back and earn all of your badges again. So you have to think wisely of what you are going to do. Okay?”
“Okay,” I mumble already thinking about it. I look at the special badge one more time and then put it away. “Ponyta return!”
“I just noticed something,” she says causally. “Aren’t you a little old to be a pokémon trainer?”
“Too old? Well I did start out a little later then everyone else but I don’t think I’m too old!”
“Well, how old are you?”
“I’m only fifteen years old. I left home when I was thirteen.”
“You do look a little older then that… So I guess you’re not too old.”
I shake my head and pick up Vulpix and Meowth. I decide to head back to the Pokémon Center. I walk in and look around for Tom. I hand my hurt pokémon to the Nurse and then I decide to sit down. I pull out some chips I had bought back while we were at the food court. I eat them while I wait for my pokémon to be healed. After ten minutes my pokémon were healed and I was fed up with waiting for Tom. I walk over to the Police Station and then head inside the huge building. I walk over to the real-estate part of the building. I pay off the house and happily walk away with the deed. I get outside and then decide to get on my Ponyta and ride to Vermilion City. I call out Ponyta and jump on its back. I dig my heals into its sides and scream, “Hee-ya!” Ponyta swiftly runs forward towards Vermilion City.

Chapter 16

I start to laugh as the wind blows in my face and through my dark-green hair. I stroke Ponyta’s fiery mane with awe as the sun sets. I look around enjoying the scenery and I pull Vulpix from my back into my and play around with it’s furry tails. Smiling I look up to see a little kid in the middle of the trail. Ponyta rears closer the kid and I scream at him to move. In a sudden moment I realize I have to do something. I dig my knee into Ponyta’s side and she quickly turns. I’m thrusted off with Vulpix and we hit the mud with much force. I sit up slowly and pain begins to throb in my arm. I walk to Ponyta who is standing up on all but one leg. With a scared but unhurt Vulpix at my side I check Ponyta’s leg. The leg is too bad to walk on but not to bad for Ponyta to go inside the pokéball.
“Ponyta return.” I say holding up her pokéball. I whisper, “Now I need to find that little kid.” Vulpix jumps on my back as I follow the sounds of muffled cries. “Charmeleon come forth.” I whisper pulling out the pokéball. Charmeleon lights the forest around me and I look around. I notice the shimmer of dark liquid on the ground and I start to follow the trail of blood. The smell starts to grow really intense and I know I’m close. I unfortunately don’t hear anymore crying I and almost turn around but something catches my attention. I step closer to it and like I expected it starts to growl at me. A Growlithe! The pup lightly bites my hand and leads me to the little boy. I look over to find that the kid isn’t so little but is about ten, the age kids normally start their journeys. I look over the boy and am startled to find that all he has is a broken leg. I carefully pick him up and carry him to the path.
“Charmeleon return!” I say once we reach the road. I pull out two pokéballs and throw them. Electabuzz and Gengar appear in front of me. I carefully have Electabuzz help me onto Gengar than have it return. Vulpix jumps up onto Gengar and we start towards Vermilion City. I gaze at the boy as he stirs in my arms.
“What? Where am I? What happened?”
“We’re on our way to Vermilion City. You were almost killed because you were standing in the middle of the road.”
“Oh. I was trying to get my Growlithe to come out of the middle of the road.”
“Well I think we have a while till we get to Vermilion City so let’s get to know each other. What’s your name?”
“I’m Adam. What about you?”
“Well my name is Jewel.” I look down at him because he doesn’t respond to find out that he’s unconscious again. I sigh and lean back against Gengar. Adam’s Growlithe carefully lies down on Adam’s stomach. I smile and watch the world go by.

“Gengar… Gengar!” my Gengar says to me. I open my eyes to notice we are right in front of the Pokémon Center/ Hospital. I slowly get off and walk inside with my pokémon behind me.
A doctor comes up to me and quickly says, “Who’s hurt?”
“Um… The boy has a broken leg and I have a hurt arm.”
“Okay come with me,” The doctor replies walking away. I hurry after him and my pokémon hurry after me. We walk into a room with beds and we walk towards them. “I want you to lay here until I can get to you.”
“Okay,” I manage to reply before I slip into a deep and dreamless sleep because of exhaustion.

I awake with a long yawn a strenuous stretch. The first thing I notice is a bandage on my arm. Then I look next to me to find Adam and so I get up and walk over to him. His leg is in a cast and he lies very still. I look at his light brown hair and slightly swathy complexion. I look up and notice a doctor walking into the room. He notices I’m up and walks over to me.
“Hey! You’re up. Are you feeling better?”
“Yeah, I guess,” I say then I take a quick look at his name tag.
“You must have taken a pretty nasty fall. What happened?”
“Well I was riding my Ponyta when I saw a kid in the middle of the road. I made Ponyta turn and I was thrown off. I checked my Ponyta’s condition then looked for the kid. Luckily he only had a broken leg so I got on my Gengar and rode here. By the way, where are my pokémon?”
“They’re in the Pokémon Center next door.”
I look down at the blue and white shrub I’m wearing. I exclaim while blushing, “Where are my clothes?”
“I’ll go get them so you can change.” The doctor leaves and I look back at Adam. ‘He’s really lucky,’ I think looking at his leg once more. ‘He could have been killed!’
I lay back and wait for the doctor. Finally he comes in and hands me my bag. I walk to the nearest bathroom after asking for directions. I slide into a stall and pull off the ugly looking shrub. I slowly pull on a light blue short sleeved shirt and my blue short shorts. I walk out of the stall and look into the mirror. I rummage through my bag and finally find my brush. I slowly run it through my hair and put on a red headband. I gaze into the mirror satisfied. Then I put away my brush and zip up my bag. I swing the green backpack onto one shoulder. I strut out of the bathroom and straight into the Pokémon Center.
