Chapter 13

Vulpix awakes me from my great dream. She nudges my head and I move with a groan. I sit up and see Vulpix sitting next to me wide awake. “How long have you been up?” I ask looking at her. “Four hours! Wow that’s a long time!” I look over and see Tom sitting looking at the ground. “Hey Tom. Why are you sitting there?” I ask him rolling up my sleeping bag. I brush all the knots out of my hair and smooth it.
“Well I was… Well I was, umm… waiting for you to get up because I wanted to come with you.”
“Okay then. I still need to battle Misty to get another special badge.”
“Special Badge?”
“It’s hard to explain and I don’t have the time. I need to get the badge. Come on Vulpix. Let’s go!”
“Good luck.”
“I meet you back here so don’t go anywhere.”
“Okay.”
I walk out of the door and stroll over to the gym. I sigh when I see a note posted to the door saying they’re out fishing for pokémon. I hang my head and walk back to the Pokémon Center. The doors automatically open and I don’t see Tom.
“Now where did he go?” I say shaking my head. I sigh as I head back outside. I look around with disappointment in my eyes. I spot a pokémon and I think that since Tom isn’t here that I’ll go ahead and catch it. Also it will strengthen my pokémon so they will be ready to fight Misty when she comes back. I pull out my pokéball containing Growlithe and throw it to the ground. Growlithe appears in front of me and howls.
I smile, “Growlithe use your Ember attack.” He thrusts forward at the scared pokémon and screeches as the flames hits it. I pull out an empty pokéball and throw it and now stunned pokémon. It hits the pokémon and it’s sucked in. The red light goes out so I pick up the pokéball. I smile looking at pokémon and make my Growlithe return. I walk into the pokémon center and have Nurse Jen heal my pokémon. It takes a second and then I walk outside again. My stomach grumbles as I smell some French fries being cooked. I rummage through my pockets and find 3 kintes. I look for the French fries stand and finally find it.
“How much do your French fries cost?” I ask hungrily
“4 kintes.”
“4 kintes! I don’t have enough,” I say gingerly. I added bitterly, “Yet…” I walk away from the stand and pull out my newly caught pokémon.
“Meow,” It exclaims popping out of its pokéball.
“Hello Meowth!” I reply walking over to it. “Can you help me with something?” I ask pulling out a small, empty, navy blue, velvet bag.

Chapter 14

It looks up and happily tells me it will do it.
“Here,” I say handing it the velvet bag, “find me some coins that are out in the street. Please don’t steal, I don’t want any trouble.”
“Meow-th,” It says nodding its head.
“Now meet me back here in a hour. Okay?”
“Meowth,” It says walking into the busy streets.
“Be careful,” I say before I could see no more of him. I decide to go back to me cabin to rest for awhile. I walk with my Vulpix by my side and finally reach the cabin. I unlock the door and take the note from outside the door off. I walk in slowly looking around and then close the door and lock in. Vulpix jumps onto one of my favorite chairs as I go to get water. I dump out the remaining water in my canteen and fill it up with fresh water. I look at the gigantic yard and decide this is a time where all of my pokémon can run around for awhile. “Everyone come out!” I say and all the pokéballs open and all of my pokémon appear in front of me. “You all have a hour to rest and relax outside your pokéballs. I don’t want to hear any grumbling when you have to go back inside them.” I walk back inside with Growlithe at my side and I sit down. I pet Growlithe’s head as I lean back.
“Ruff!” he barks moving towards the door. I get up and walk towards it.
“Now Growlithe don’t attack unless I tell you to. Okay?” He licks my hand so I open the door. I person about my age is standing there. I hear Growlithe growling at the boy standing in front of me. “Cool it, Growlithe!” I say looking down on it.
“I need some water. You got some?”
“Yeah, it’s out back. I’ll take you to it because all of my pokémon are out.”
“Okay.” He says pulling out a canister from his bag. We walk to the back with Growlithe trailing close behind us. I walk out and notice all my pokémon resting or playing a game with each other. I walk over to the pump and fill his canteen then walk back and hand it to him. “Thank you so much!” He exclaims after taking a gulp of the fresh water.
“Your welcome,” I say as we walk inside. We both sit down on a green and blue couch. Vulpix jumps over onto the couch and lays onto my lap. Growlithe jumps onto the couch and curls up beside me. I pat his head and look down at the now sleeping Vulpix.
“You and me have the same dream.”
“What?” I say hysterically.
“We both are getting special badges to take over gyms.”
“Really? What gym are you trying to take over?”
“The Vermilion Gym. What about you?”
“Isn’t it easy to tell.”
“I guess so,” he says while sighing. “Do you mind if I let my Pikachu out?”
“Not at all.” I reply looking at my Growlithe sleep. He lets his Pikachu out and it sits on his lap.
“How did you get this awesome place?”
“I found it. I’m still trying to pay it off.”
“Oh, well if you give me partial ownership I can help you pay it off.”
“Really? You’d help me pay it off?”
“Yeah, I’d love this place to rest if I’m visiting in the area. Plus it has a supply of water.”
“Okay, I can agree to you having partial ownership as long as you help me out with the payments.”
“Of course I’ll help out with the payments.” He opens up his backpack and takes out a bag. He opens the bag and then hands me about 1,000 kintes. I marvel at the amount of money. It was a little bit less then half of the amount I had to pay in all for the house. I look at the time and realize that I need to meet Meowth.
“I need to go. Here is a spare key,” I say handing him one of the keys I found. “All of my pokémon return now!” I say loudly. I pick up my backpack and Vulpix and head out the door. “Don’t forget to lock up!” I say closing the door behind me.
I slowly walk to the market and I see Meowth waiting there for me.
“Hello Meowth!”
“Meowth!” It says holding up the bag. I take it and peer into it.
“Wow, your good at this!” I say marveling at the amount of coins. “Thank you so much Meowth!” Vulpix jumps off my back and walks over to Meowth. “Come on! Let’s go get something to eat!” The two of them happily agree so I walk back to the French fries stand. “I’ll have an order of fries and two orders of pokémon food. The vendor hands me the food and I pay him. We walk towards a nearby bench and I hand them their food. I eat my French fries slowly and finish them. I notice Vulpix and Meowth are done with their food so I take the trash and throw it away. I head back to the gym with Vulpix in my arms and Meowth on my back. I walk inside the gym.
“Um, who goes there!”
“It’s Jewel and I wish to battle you for a special badge!”
“Okay then,” a girl with red hair says, “it’s a two on two battle!”
“Great!” I say. “I choose you Growlithe.”
