Chapter 5: The Poor Pokémon!

"Eeew!! Get it ooooffffff meeee!!" I screeched nervously.
"Jess, it's okay! It's only a mouse!" Lisa said, as if it would make it any better."A mouse?!"I screamed, jumping into the air.
"Let me see that thing for a second," Lisa said, grabbing my poké i.d.er.
"It's only a 'Rattata,'" she said, as if to pronounce it carefully.
"Oh no! Not another rat!" I said. I finally realized that Lisa was more fascinated than worried, so I took things into my own hands. I kicked the rat thingie off my foot! It flew into the air and onto the ground. It got up quickly and turned around angerly, as if it was to attack.
"Uh oh! What do I do now?!" I whispered to Lisa sternly.
"Attack it! Then catch it!" she said, knowing my pokemon cluelessness.
" But I don't want that purple rat on my team! Eevee is so much cuter!" I objected."Just do it or it will bite you!"
"Fine! But I'm not going to catch it!" I said stubbornly.
"Eevee! Um, do any attack you want! Just get that rat away from me!!"I yelled.
Eevee sat down and looked at me, again, like I was an idiot.
"Okay, I don't really know your attacks anyway. Bulbafrog! Go!" I yelled,
throwing the pokeball."Um, Jess," Lisa said. "I think it's name is Bulbasaur."
"That's what I said!" I cried. Wow! I must sound like that kid "Ash" on the stupid pokemon tv show! I better stop, or a will turn into a pokemon freak like him!
I looked at Bulbasaur's attacks. They were tackle, leech seed, and growl.
"Um, bulbasaur! tackle!" I yelled."Bulba?" it said, looking confused.
Hey! I thought. I'm sure I did it right this time!
Bulbasaur leaped towards a tree. It hit it's head and fell down.
"Bulbasaur!" I yelled. I ran to it and I picked it up.
"Eevee! Tackle it and make it run away!" I yelled.
Eevee did so. The Rattata wasn't about to run away.
"Eevee! Tackle it again!" I yelled. Eevee tackle the Rattata. The Rattata attemped to tackle Eevee, but Eevee was too fast for it.
I was about to tell Eevee to finish it off, but I had an idea. I decided to try to catch the Rattata, and then sell it or something. If it broke out, good riddence, rat!
Eevee was in poition to finish it off, and just waiting for me to tell it to do so. It looked at me and looked and looked a little confused seeing me digging in my bag.
It looked even more suprised when I took a pokeball out and threw it. Lisa looked suprised too.
Rattata was sucked into the ball and then the ball wiggled. I kinda hoped that it would break free, so I didn't have to keep a rat. Unfortunatly for me, I caught it.
"Wow, Jess!" exclaimed Lisa. "You caught your first pokemon! You must be so proud!"
"Yup, I guess so," l said, fake smiling."I'm just as happy as ever to have a rat on my team," I said sarcastically.
Lisa laughed. '' Come on, let's go to Pewter City.''
''Wait! I want to find out what happened to Bulbasaur,''I sat down and called Bulbasaur out of the pokeball.
I searched all over Bulbasaur, my hands searching for a wound or something. I touched it's face, and it started moaning! It shut it's eyes tightly, and when they opened, I was a little freaked out!
"Oh my gosh!'' l said quitely. "Lisa! Take a look at this!"
"Whoa!"Lisa exclaimed, almost as suprised as I was. " It's eyes are all bloodshot!"
"We've got to get it to the Pokemon Center in Pewter City immediately! We better get a move on!" I said, already standing up.
"Eevee," I said. "I'm really sorry, but you have to go in your pokéball right now. I have to carry Bulbasaur, and I can't run and carry the two of you at the same time. I hope you understand''
''Eevee!" Eevee said, as if to say, ''Okay!" and got into the pokéball.
I picked up Bulbasaur and we continued running through Pewter City.
After a while, we got a little tired. We sat down on a log to catch our breath. Suddenly, a cute guy popped out.
"Hi! Do you have pokemon?" He asked nicely.
"Um, yeah, I do," I said, staring at him.
"Well, do you want to have a battle?" he asked.
"I'm sorry, but my Bulbasaur is in a really bad condition and I can't battle it," I showed him Bulbasaur's eyes.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I had no idea," he said. Well, I thought. He's nice.
"If you want, we can come back here after and battle you after we get to the pokémon center," Lisa said. I shot a look at her. She shrugged and looked back at the guy."Ok! My name is Chris. What's your's?" Chris said.
"My name is Jess. This is Lisa," I said. "Well, we better get going!"
"Okay! I come to Pewter in 2 days,and then we'll see if your ready to battle.
Bye Jess! Bye Lisa!" he ran into the woods again
"Wait! Do you know a fast way out of the forest?" I asked.
"Oh, yeah! You go..." he told us where to go and then said goodbye again.
"Good bye!" Lisa said waving.
After he left, Lisa seemed a little out of it. Then I found out her little secret!"You like him, don't you?" I asked, teasingly.
"DON'T TELL HIM!!!!" She exploded."Okay!Okay! I won't!" I said.
We walked in silence. It was very late, and we wanted to get there soon.
We saw a big light, and rushed ahead. We were relived to find the Pokemon center. We got there, and decided to find out about Bulbasaur in the morning.

Chapter 6: My First Badge!!

I woke up that morning with Bulbasaur next to me. I got out of my sleeping bag and went to ask Nurse Joy about my pokémon.
"Nurse Joy?" I called. "There is something severely wrong with my pokémon."
Nurse Joy looked at my pokémon and frowned. "I'm afraid we will have to operate."
She took Bulbasaur into another room. It was in there for about an hour.
Nurse Joy came out. I held my breath. ''Bulbasaur is going to be fine. It's just...""Just what??" I demanded.
"Well, it's eyes are fine, but, while l was examining it, it looked rather
swollen, so I took an X-ray, and the results showed..."''Showed...?"
''That Bulbasaur is going to..." she paused, again. "Give birth!"
My miond went blank. What?! I was thinking. Now I can't battle that guy! I need Bulbasaur to beat him! But, now im gonna have lots of little Bulbasaurs!
I was happy and dissapointed.
I also decided that I had to take on my first gym challenge. I knew I was gonna lose pitifully, so I decided to just do my best, and then if i lost, I could give up and go home!
I headed to Brock's gym. Lisa trailed behind me. I bet she was still thinking about Chris!
"Hey, Jess!" she said. ''would you like to borrow one of my pokemon? I will let you if you let me keep one of Bulbasaur's babies!"
"Um, okay! I'll borrow Squirtle!" I said. She handed me the pokeball, and told me it's attacks. They were Bubble, Tackle, Water Gun and Tail Whip. I went into the gym and called "Um, is anyone here? I was wondering if I could have a battle with Brock if it was okay?"
A dark skinned man stepped out of the dark. "So, you want to ba....."
He looked at me and started stuttering. "Oh, h-hi! M-m-my na-name isB-b-brock."
He fell down.
"Okay........., do you want to battle or not?" I said, rolling my eyes.
"Y-y-yes! But I must warn you that my technechs will leave you paralized! I will try to go a little easy on you!" he called, striking a weird pose.
I had made my decidetion about him: He was a psyco.
"G-geodude! Go!" He yelled, throwing a pokéball. A weird rock with arms popped out."Okay! Squirtle! Get the rock freak!"
Squirtle looked at the Geodude and got in poistion.
"Squirtle! Bubble attack!" I called. Squirtle sent hundreds of bubbles out if it's mouth. I don't see how that attack can hurt! It's just flying bubbles!
Geodude looked like it just got seriously hurt( by the tiny flying bubbles!).
"Geodude! Tackle attack!" Geodude tackled Squirtle, but it didn't hurt itmuch.
"Squirtle! water gun!" I yelled. Squirtle shot a lot of water out of it's mouth, and sent Geodude flying. geodude was like, almost dead!
''Geodude! Return!'' Brock called. "Well, such a good win for such a pretty girl!"
"Uh, thanks, I think," I said.
''Ah,'' Brock sighs. He looked like he was going to faint and then fell onto
the ground."Um, are you forfitting or something?" I asked the psyco.
"No! I will keep fighting to show my love, UM, I MEAN YOU, that I can win!" He said.
So that's why he's acting so weird! I thought. He likes me! Ha! This should make it easy!
"Okay, Show 'em watcha got, Onix!" Brock yelled. A big, weird, rock snakey thingie came out.
"Squirtle! Water Gun!" I yelled. Squirtle hit Onix and it dramatically weakened.
"Onix! Bind!" Brock yelled. The weird snake wrapped its body around Squirtle, and started squeezing it!
"Squirtle!" It yelled, sounding like it was being swushed.
"Squirtle! Return!" I yelled, not wanting Lisa's fish-breathed turtle/squirrell to get hurt.
Now who was I gonna send out?I thought. Eevee might get hurt, but Rattata's a rat! Oh well, I better risk it!
"Eevee! Go!" Eevee jumped onto the platform. "Eevee! Sand Attack it so it can't see you!" I called, noticing I knew more about Pokemon when I wanted to. Eevee brought up sand and then sprayed it into Onix's eyes. Onix shaked it's head, but it didn't help it much.
"Ok, now tackle it!" I yelled, kinda getting into it. It hurt Onix, but only by the slightest bit.
"Onix! Tackle, but don't hurt the pretty girl's Eevee too much!" Brock yelled. Onix attempted to tackle it, but it missed.
"Eevee! Keep tackling it! I can't have that much more hit points after Squirtle's water gun!" I yelled, becoming more confident. Eevee kept tackling and Onix kept missing.
"Eevee! Tackle! One more time!" Eevee did so, and dodged out of the way when he huge snake fell to the ground."I won!" I yelled.
Brock walked up to me and handed me a tiny thing.
"Here is your badge. If you want, you can stay here and, um, I can, um, well..." Brock said, stumbling over his words.
"Uh, thanks, but no thanks," I said, grabbing the badge.
I walked out of the gym, ready to hear how proud my dad would be when I called him and told him about my victory.
