| *Pepperland* Issue #4 |
| This is the fourth and last issue of my Beatle newsletter, which I was editor for in Summer 1998. Sadly, it faded away because it took so much time to do each issue (each was about 10 pages typed) and I had schoolwork and few articles to work with. |

*Pepperland* issue #3 Finally!
Hey Bulldog! A quick note from the prez.
Hi! I hope everyones summers been great so far! I know mine has! Im SO sorry this issue is a week late! As I said in the *Pepperland* Notice, I was at my Aunts and it was difficult to get the computer time it takes (many hours which is why I need you help!) to get *Pepperland* out. I got back to my home this weekend and Ive been very busy since then which is why it was further delayed. Im hoping to keep on schedule for the rest of the summer, hopefully. I dont know WHAT Im going to do during school, but well see. Sorry again, thanks for the patience. Remember everyone: PLEASE! E-mail me with suggestions/comments!! I hope this issue is ok. For most of it I was at loss for articles, so hopefully next issue will be more plentiful due to articles I will HOPEFULLY receive! I pretty much check my e-mail eight days a week so Ill be waiting happily for any response to this plea. Meanwhile, work on those articles, and enjoy this issue! Your prez., Pickwick5 :o)

Beatles For Sale
By Hoops3388
On September 15th, 1998, a Beatles notebook compiled by Mal Evans, the Beatles road manager who was killed in 1976 in L.A. for brandishing a fake gun at police, will be sold at Sothebys sale of rock n roll memorabilia in London at the Hard Rock Café. It is a spiral notebook filled with drafts for the lyrics to Hey Jude, Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, and Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite which has an extra half line of recording notes for All You Need is Love filled in by John and George, a checklist about filming promotional clips for the Strawberry Fields Forever, single, and some brightly colored doodles by John Lennon. This item donated by an anonymous vender, is expected to be sold for 90,000 to 120,000 pounds ($147,000 to $196,000).
Lyrics are easily the most collectable items for collectors, says Stephen Maycock, the rock and pop specialist for the sale. I bet itll most definitely sell quickly! No doubt about it!

Song Lyrics
By Macca818
This week is gonna be one of Paul McCartney's Songs :o) :
Off the Ground
There must have been alot of heartache
For you to sink so low.
You must have had alot of Pressure
Only answer if the answer's no.
I need Loving, you need loving too
Wouldn't take a lot to get off the Ground.
There must have been alot of Magic
When the world was born.
Let me be the one you wish for
One you call for, when you're all alone.
Off the Ground, Off the Ground
Fly around, Fly around
Hear the sound, Hear the sound
(chorus)
Off the ground, Off the ground
Though it takes alot of power
To make a big tree grow.
It doesn't need a pot of Knowledge
For a seed knows what a seed must know
I need loving, you need loving too
Doesn't take alot to get off the Ground
(chorus)
Hear the sound, hear the sound
Off the ground, off the ground
Yeah, Yeah Off the Ground.

Where Did that Song Come From?
By amarple & Pickwick5*
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds
*There have been rumors that this song is about LSD, but it's not. John got it from his son's painting: it had a girl's face in the sky with diamonds and stars around it. His son, Julian, said that it was his friend Lucy. Some of the other images in the song such as cellophane flowers and rocking horse people were taken from the book Alice in Wonderland.
Another little tidbit:
"I happened to go to a Beatle tribute concert a few days ago in Worcester. The band was called "1964." In my opinion they sounded just like the Beatles. The crowd was just as loud also. There was lots of screaming and yelling from the mosh pit. They played songs like "Help," "Yellow Submarine," and "Twist and Shout. All in all they were great, but the wait sucked and so did the line for the bathroom." -amarple

Quotes of the Fab 4
By amarple and Pickwick5
The Beatles said lots of great things, and a lot of interesting things were also said about them. :o)
"Impressible and irresistible, they
were -and still remain- the world's
most astonishing rock-n-role band" -Time Magazine (about the Beatles)
"The Beatles seemed not only to
symbolize but to contain it all -to
make history by anticipating it." -Greil Marcus, rock critic
"The thing is, we're all really the
same person. We're just four parts
of the one." -Paul McCartney (about the Beatles)
I thought that was really ADORABLE. Brain Wilson, of the Beach Boys, on Back in the U.S.S.R. being a parody/tribute to the group.
We were always in competition. I wrote Penny Lane, so he wrote Strawberry fields. That was how it was. Paul McCartney on Beatles songwriting.
We had these endless, crazy fun sessions
.And it was just hilarious to put that record together. Its not a great melody or anything, its just unique. Paul McCartney about the song You now my name, look up the number.
The priority is always the song. The song is what remains. It not how youve done it. I honestly believe in the song more than the music. Its the song people whistle. You dont whistle my drum part. And John and Paul wrote some pretty amazing songs. Ringo Starr (I found this quote especially interesting because I really DO go around humming Ringos drumming, well call me crazy
)
