"McCartney"
By Macca818
In search of the Groove
the 1993 World Tour
The First Rehearsals:
"We're out into the Unknown now."
A word from Paul and Wix:
Paul:
You've got these worries, the Baseline the Vocal are two separate lines
of Research. You think you have everything down and you are SO happy!
But, then someone forgets a line or a cord. That's where it ALL starts. There are always a couple of difficult bits in rehearsal. We are doing a song on tour now Fixing a Hole, and the Bass goes like a drum. The Bass is ¾ or something like that. I dunno what it could be! (I was never great at Arithmetic) You have to get it in your head some how though. But suddenly it happens! The Joy!
Wix:
We rehearsed a whole Bunch of Songs on this tour! In the 89-90 world Tour We just had to say "Here goes Nothin". So, I'm guessing we'll do ALOT better this time. Well, the 1989-1990 world tour was a different story! It was what you would kinda call "Embarassing"! Chris Whitten (our old Drummer) had Fallen off his Drumming Stool and nearly knocked himself out. Robbie forgot a whole song and we had to start over LOTS of times. Well, Worst of all was my piano was squeaking like Mad! It sounded like a Mouse was Trapped inside! But, It all came through! I was so Glad! It may sound Like I despise them all, But they are like My own Brothers!

Special Report: Heres some music to check out! John Lennons son, Sean, is very talented, just like his dad. Way to go, Sean!
Sean Lennon Heads "Into the Sun"
By Pickwick5
Just recently, Sean Lennon, son of John Lennon & Yoko Ono, released his first album, Into the Sun. It is said to be inspired by the love of his life, Yuka Honda, whos vocals are on the title track, Into the Sun, which is said to be in a slightly Brazilian style.
The album is said to have some dreamy verse with some pounding chorus in some of the songs, which is a characteristic seen also in Johns music. The album is said to show some of his mothers unique sensibilities, and his fathers sharp skill for vocal harmony and melody.

News Extras: Check out this soundtrack with a Beatle track!
Armageddon Armed with Beatles
By Pickwick5
Has anybody seen Armageddon yet? Well, I havent yet but I intend to. In the meantime, Ive been checking out album reviews for the soundtrack. In the reviews they havent exactly been praising it (if you know what I mean), but from what Ive heard of it (just one song off the radio!) it sounds ok.
On the album are artists such as Shawn Colvin, Journey, and Chantal Kreviazuk. There are also quite a few tracks from Aerosmith. These include the Diane Warren composition, I Dont Wanna Miss a Thing, which I found quite enjoyable (even the music video was o.k.), Sweet Emotion, and the Beatles Come Together.
So, although I havent heard the entire album yet, I figure if it has a Beatle song on it, it cant be all bad.

Song Lyrics
By Macca818
Lucy In the Sky with Diamonds
Picture yourself in a boat on a river,
With tangerine trees and marmalade skies,
Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly,
A Girl with kaleidoscope eyes.
Cellophane flowers of yellow and green,
Towering over your head.
Look for the girl with the sun in her eyes
and she's gone.
Lucy in the Sky with diamonds,
Follow her down to a bridge by a fountain
Where rocking horse people eat Marshmallow pies,
Everyone smiles as you drift past the flowers,
That grow so incredibly high.
Newspaper Taxi appear on the shore,
Waiting to take you away.
Climb in the back with your head in the clouds,
And you're gone.
Lucy in the sky with Diamonds,
Picture yourself on a train in a station,
With plasticine porters with looking glass ties,
Suddenly someone is there at the turnstile,
The girl with kaleidoscope eyes.

If you like the Beatles
youll love them!
By Hoops3388
This weeks sound-alike is the Byrds. The Byrds (in my opinion) are basically a rip-off of the Beatles: same hair cut and everything. Theyre also from about the same time. They put out 11 albums before breaking up in 1972.

Quotes of the Fab 4
By Hoops3388 and Pickwick5
The Beatles said lots of great things, and a lot of interesting things were also said about them. This issue Ive got a quite a few funny ones, along with some ones about Sgt. Pepper. Enjoy! :o)
Im your basic offbeat drummer with funny fills. The fills were funny because Im really left-handed playing a right-handed kit
I cant roll around the drums because of that. I have to start with my left hand. If I come off the snare onto the tom-tom, I cant go on to the other tom, to the floor tom. Thats why we used to call them funny fills.
-Ringo Starr
Turn that off. Bob Dylan (his reported response upon first hearing Sgt. Pepper)
Hearing Sgt. Pepper, smoking reefers, and planning the revolution in my friends loft, we were just overwhelmed by their vision. Abbie Hoffman, social critic
I think its marvelous. What does this make my dad?
Paul McCartney (on receiving the MBE award)
I hate [drum] solos. Ringo Starr
Press: Why dont you smile, George?
George: Ill hurt my lips.
Press: Would you ever accept a girl in your group if she could sing, play an instrument, and wear the Beatle haircut?
Ringo: How tall is she?
