Goal 2: Get a bottle from Talon
-------------------------------
Leave Kakariko Village, and look at the map for Hyrule Field. In the
center of Hyrule Field is Lon Lon Ranch. Run towards it, passing the
night killing skeletons if necessary. Make sure you enter the ranch
during the day.
Inside the ranch, there will be a door on the left. Go through the
door, and you'll find Talon sleeping there. Talk to him to wake him
up, and he will challenge you to a cuckoo-finding game. Find all three
Super Cuckoos to get a bottle! It will come pre-filled with Lon Lon
Milk, a restorative that will refill 5 hearts worth of energy.
Goal 3: Learn Epona's Song
--------------------------
Leave the room where Talon is and continue into the Ranch. You'll find
the stables, where Malon is standing next to the young Epona, singing
a song. Talk to her and she'll recognize you from your encounter at
Hyrule Castle. Keep talking with her, and she'll invite you to sing
along. Use your ocarina at this point, and she'll make a comment about
how cute the ocarina is, and then teach you how to play Epona's Song.
This song is fairly useless now, but becomes very handy later in the
game!
=======================================================================
Section 7 -- Zora's Domain, Lake Hylia
=======================================================================
Goals: Enter Zora's Domain, Find Princess Ruto, Enter Lord Jabu-Jabu
=======================================================================
Goal 1: Enter Zora's Domain
---------------------------
By now, you've probably been nagged by Navi a few times about talking
to Saria. Fortunately, now that you know Saria's Song, you don't have
to go running back to the Lost Woods! Play Saria's Song, and talk to
Saria. She'll tell you that the last stone is being held by King Zora
in Zora's Domain.
Finding Zora's Domain isn't terribly difficult. Leave Kakariko Village,
and follow the edge of the map south. The next exit is Zora' River, the
path that leads to Zora's Domain. At the end of the path is a huge
waterfall, with a triforce symbol on a ledge in front of the waterfall.
Stand on the triforce symbol, and the waterfall will part, allowing you
to jump to the ledge behind it and enter Zora's Domain.
Goal 2: Find Princess Ruto
--------------------------
King Zora isn't difficult to find, but he is very preoccupied with
finding Ruto, his daughter, before he will talk about the Spiritual
Stone. If you talk to all the Zora's, you'll find out that they have
looked as far as Lake Hylia for the princess. Perhaps there is
something there that they missed?
Before you leave for the lake, you'll need to get the Silver Scale. To
do this, leave the throne room through the passage to the left, and
talk to the Zora at the top of the waterfall. Accept his challenge,
and pick up all the rupees in 50 seconds to win. If you do, he'll
give you the Silver Scale! If you look underwater, you'll see a small
cave. Now that you have the Silver Scale, you can dive underwater and
enter the cave, which will warp you instantly to Lake Hylia.
Once in lake hylia, go to where the pillars are standing out of the
water. You should notice something odd underwater. Dive and pick it
up, and you'll find another bottle! Inside the bottle is a letter from
Ruto asking for help. She'll ask you not to tell her father, but since
King Zora is blocking where you need to go, you'll have to go against
her wishes. When King Zora reads the letter, he'll let you pass behind
him, to where Lord Jabu-Jabu awaits.
Goal 3: Enter Lord Jabu-Jabu
----------------------------
Lord Jabu-Jabu, big fish that he is, doesn't open his mouth for just
anyone. As the Zora people will tell you, you must present a fish for
him. Fortunately, we've got a couple of empty bottles handy! Find the
shop in Zora's Domain, and just outside the shop is a small puddle
with a fish or two swimming in it. Equip a bottle and use it to trap
a fish, then take the fish to Lord Jabu-Jabu. He'll inhale the fish
(literally!) and take you along with it!
=======================================================================
Section 8 -- Inside Lord Jabu-Jabu's Belly
=======================================================================
Goals: Find Princess Ruto, find boomerang, find map, find compass,
defeat giant octopus, defeat boss.
=======================================================================
Goal 1: Find Princess Ruto
--------------------------
Well.. "find" is probably too strong a word here; 'encounter' would be
a better choice of words. After getting sucked into Jabu Jabu's mouth,
run towards the back of his mouth. The rear exit is covered with some
strange seaweed stuff that won't let the door open. If you look around
carefully, you'll see Jabu Jabu's uvula (Navi will target it for you).
Hit it with a carefully aimed slingshot and the seaweed will disappear.
After you pass through the door, you'll find Princess Ruto. That was
easy! Unfortunately she's a bit of a snob and runs off without you,
getting sucked down through a hole in the floor. Jump in after her,
and talk to her again. She'll give you the "honor" of carrying her
around, which isn't so bad because it will help you shortly.
Important note: If, at any point, you happen to lose Princess Ruto,
she will be back at the point where you last talked to her. Simply
trace your steps backwards and you'll run into her again.
Goal 2: Find Boomerang
----------------------
If you've tried to attack any of the monsters in this dungeon, you've
probably gotten quite a shock (the exceptions being the fish in the
water and the bubbles -- they are safe to kill with your sword). You
need a weapon that doesn't conduct electricity. Deku sticks will work
for the short term, but they break with one hit so use them sparingly.
Pick up Princess Ruto and exit through the only door you can reach.
You'll come to a shallow pond with a switch at its floor. Jump down
into the shallow pond and throw Princess Ruto to the far shore, then
activate the switch and swim across. There will be another trigger here
similar to that in the first room, target it with your slingshot to
open the door. Grab Ruto and go through the door!
In the next room is an elevator. When it comes down, jump on it and go
back up to the first floor. There will be a couple crates here, and the
path will lead back to the room with the holes in it, where you first
encountered Princess Ruto. Ignore (and avoid) all the holes and go
through the far passage. If you look at your map, you'll see that the
corridor splits into five passages, looking similar to the diagram
below:

From Pit Room
-----
If you walk towards exit 5, you'll notice a switch on the ground. By
himself, Link isn't heavy enough to trigger it, but the combined weight
of Link and Ruto will trigger the switch and let you enter the room.
There's a bunch of fish in here, kill them all and the boomerang is
yours!
Goal 3: Find Map
----------------
Back in our branching room, the next route we want to take is exit #1.
In order to keep the door open, you'll have to carefully set Ruto down
on top of the switch. Inside will be a giant rope-like thing dangling
from the ceiling. Z-target it while it is low, and throw your boomerang
at it. If you hit it, it will recoil, and you'll have to draw it out
into the open again so you can hit it with your boomerang. After a few
hits, it'll croak, and the red slimy thing blocking exit #2 will
disappear (Navi will make a point of telling you about it, in fact). A
treasure chest containing the map appears, and the exit opens. Grab the
map and go through the exit!
Goal 4: Find Compass
--------------------
The compass lies beyong exit #2, which was just unblocked when you
killed the rope thing in the map room. This room is filled with bubbles,
which you must defeat within a time limit. Z-target them one at a time
and launch your boomerang at them, and you should have no trouble
clearing the room. The reward for your trouble is a chest with the
Compass in it!
Goal 5: Find Spiritual Stone of Water
-------------------------------------
Killing the tentacle in the map room removed the slimy thing blocking
exit 3. Exit 3 leads to a second tentacle, and defeating it will open
exit 4. Exit #4 leads to the last of the tentacles, which you can
dispatch using the same technique as the previous two tentacles. Once it
is dead, the green slimy thing in the pit room will be gone.
Head back to the pit room, and fall down the hole where the green slimy
thing was (it's the northwestern-most hole, looking at the automap).
There's only one door to go through, so enter it and you'll find the
room containing the Spiritual Stone of Water! Ruto will ask you to throw
her onto the platform the stone is resting on. When you do, the platform
acends to the second floor, and you hear Ruto yell something about a
giant octopus. The elevator descends, and in Ruto's place is.. a giant
octopus!
---------------------
Mini-Boss: Giant Octo
---------------------
The room is circular in shape, and the platform in the center is
spinning in the opposite direction of the octopus' movements.. and the
platform has sharp spikes attached to it, so don't get too close! In
order to defeat the octopus, what you need to do is Z-target it, hit it
with your boomerang, then attack the soft spot on its back while it is
stunned. The trick is getting within boomerang range while chasing the
octopus, because if you get too close it will turn around. With some
clever cornering, this isn't too difficult. After four or five
successful hits, the octopus will die and you will be able to ride the
elevator up to the second floor.
Goal 5: Defeat Barinade
-----------------------
Once on the second floor, follow the hall to a room with two red
platforms that jiggle (kind of like they're made out of jello). Hit
them with your boomerang to make them stop moving, then quickly jump
across before they start moving again. Go through the exit, and jump
across to the platform. It will descend down to the first floor, ending
up in the room with the elevator you brought Ruto up earlier.
There are two crates in this room. Carefully grab one of them, and walk
across the platform to the exit you couldn't reach, and set the crate
down on top of the switch. With the crate holding the switch down, go
through the door to the next room.
Use your boomerang to destroy all the enemies in the room, then climb
the vines. You'll reach a sheet of glass, behind witch an uvula is
dangling. The trick here is to Z-target the switch and throw your
boomerang around the glass. The door will open; go through it to face
the boss: BARINADE!
-----------------------------------
Boss: Bio-electric Anenome BARINADE
-----------------------------------
This boss has multiple stages. However, the key to surviving this boss
is to keep moving!
Stage 1: The first thing you need to do is sever the tentacles attaching
Barinade to the ceiling. Your boomerang will do the job nicely.
Stage 2: After you sever the tentacles, a host of Bari will appear and
orbit around Barinade. Don't waste time Z-targetting, just throw your
boomerang in Barinade's path. Once the Bari are defeated, target the
core with your boomerang to stun it; while it is stunned, run in and
hit it with your sword. Repeat the process for as long as you can.
Stage 3: After a few of your attacks, Barinade will call forth another
set of Bari, and will speed up considerably. As in Stage 2, your first
task is to eliminate the Bari.
Stage 4: At this point, Barinade will begin spinning madly around the
room, blasting you with electricity. If you hit it with your boomerang,
it will sink to the floor. Be careful -- even while on the floor it
will fire electricity at you! Attack it with your sword while it is
stunned until Barinade finally dies.
=======================================================================
Section 9 -- Temple of Time
=======================================================================
Goals: Go to Temple of Time, open Door of Time, get Master Sword
=======================================================================
Goal 1: Go to Temple of Time
----------------------------
After Barinade is defeated, you'll be given the Spiritual Stone of
Water. This completes the set -- leave Zora's Domain and run towards
the castle!
As you approach the castle, the sky will darken and a pair on horseback
will flee the castle.. hey wait, that's Zelda! She throws an object into
the river as she rides away.
Shortly after Zelda disappears, another figure on horseback appears..
Ganondorf! He'll ask you which way they went. Link, bright kid that he
is, draws his sword. Ganondorf chuckles and knocks Link unconscious.
You'll reawaken outside of Hyrule Castle. Jump into the river and dive
under the water to fetch the object Princess Zelda threw in. It's the
Ocarina of Time! Now that you have everything you need, enter the
Market town and go to the Temple of Time.
Goal 2: Open Door of Time
-------------------------
Upon entering the Temple of Time, Princess Zelda will contact you
telepathically and teach you the Song of Time. Equip the Ocarina of
Time, and approach the pedestal. Begin playing (you'll know you're in
the right spot if a musical staff appears when you activate the ocarina)
and play the Song of Time you were just taught. The spirtual stones will
move into place, and the Door of Time will open. The Master Sword
awaits!
Goal 3: Get the Master Sword
----------------------------
With the Door of Time opened, proceed through it. You'll enter a room
with a pedestal at its center. Approach the pedestal and grab the Master
Sword, and watch the story unfold.
What follows is a longish cinema that details events that occurred
since you took the Master Sword. I won't go into detail here, except
to say that once you draw the Master Sword, you are warped ahead in time
seven years; Link is now an adult.
=======================================================================
That's all for this update. I know this has taken awhile, but it'll get
finished eventually. From here I'll probably update after each dungeon
(since from here on out they get significantly larger). I hope this
guide proves to be a useful resource.
