Raw IS War Report For 6/11/01
William Regal Interview
-We start with our Commissioner, William Regal, who comes down to the ring. He is here with a simple question: where has all the sportsmanship gone? Last week on SmackDown! when Jericho and Benoit fought Vince and Austin, sportsmanship was thrown out the window. Regal roles the footage of Benoit pinning Austin using Austin's tights, pulling them halfway down the Rattlesnake's posterior. Regal says that, not only does Chris Benoit cheat, but he promotes nudity as well! If that's what the WWF stands for, then he should step down from his Commissionership right now. But he won't, because then the decency would drop even further. Because of their unsportsman-like conduct, Jericho will face Rhyno and the Big Show, while Benoit will face a man that abhors foul play: Kurt Angle. And to make sure that there is no foul play, it will take place in a steel cage. Turning to King of the Ring, he is in a bind. Even though both Benoit and Jericho have pinned Austin in various tag matches, that doesn't mean either of them is worthy of a Title shot. Tomfoolery like that may have gone down with other Commissioners, but not with him. This, of course, brings former WWF Commissioner Mick Foley to the ring. This may come as a shock to Regal, but he wishes that he had taken some time to listen to Regal's words of wisdom. He has to admit that, many times in the past, he has been guilty of tomfoolery. His entire reign was plagued by rampant tomfoolery. And we all know that tomfoolery begets more tomfoolery. Regal asks if there is any point to his incoherent rambling. Foley says that tonight there is a point. Right here in Richmond, he is announcing a very important guest. Regal stops him, saying that he has no power anymore. The only guest he has is one he knows all too well: the security guards. That oh-so catchy music that signal's Linda McMahon's entrance hits, and out comes...well, Linda McMahon. Regal asks to what they owe the pleasure of her visit. Linda stops him and tells him to stop with the pleasantries. He has spent a lot of time talking with lawyers, and wondering what an appropriate King of the Ring main event. She thinks that both Benoit and Jericho are worthy of Title Shots. What might be fair would be for Stone Cold to defend against Benoit and Jericho, but in individual matches. If Stone Cold defeats Benoit, he would then move on to Chris Jericho. Regal wonders if two Title matches in one night would be fair. Linda says that, for once, they agree. She knows that it wouldn't be fair, so she scrapped the idea. Then Mick called her up, and pointed out something that was said on SmackDown!. She calls up footage of Austin saying that he could beat Benoit and Jericho in the ring, any night, at the same time. Linda thanks Stone Cold for solving her dilemma. Having Stone Cold say that he is that kind of Champion sealed the deal. At King of the Ring, Austin will defend against Benoit and Jericho in a Triple Threat Match. Austin will be happy, Jericho will be happy, Benoit will be happy, even Vince will be happy, because that is what her lawyers want. Regal says that if that match makes Linda's lawyers happy, then it will probably make Vince happy, so the match will be signed.
In the back, Edge asks Rhyno how his Hardcore Title is working out, when Christian comes up. He asks if this is the "already in the KotR" group, and then gets pissed that he has to go through Kane to get in. Edge tells him that he'll be in Christian's corner, but that doesn't make Christian feel anybetter. Edge: "I know he's my brother, but sometimes he can be a bitch!"
Kane vs. Christian [KOTR Qualifying]
-BOOM! Kane, still the IC Champion, comes to the ring, followed by Edge and Christian. Kane goes to work on Christian, choking him and then tossing him aside, but missing the elbow drop. Christian throws some punches, but Kane hits a short clothesline and then a tilt-a-whirl slam. Back elbow by Christian, but Kane tosses him back in the corner and hits a big boot. Kane goes out and up top, hitting the flying clothesline 1-2-broken by Edge. Christian goes for an early Impaler, but Kane pushes him out and locks in a choke. Albert runs in from nowhere and hits the Baldo Bomb on Kane, and Christian gets the pin 1-2-3!
In the back, Austin arrives as Linda is leaving. He verbally berates Linda, backing her into her limo. Foley waits for Linda to get in the limo before going off on Austin for the way he treats his wife and the way he treats women in general. Austin yells at Linda through the window, but Foley breaks it up and tells Austin what match Regal just signed, as the limo pulls away. Fade Out.

Austin storms in and demands that Regal unbook the match. Austin tosses things off Regal's desk when Regal tried to explain the other alternative, but Austin won't hear any of it. Tajiri steps in, so Austin goes nuts on him, beating him in front of, on top of, and over Regal's desk. Fade Out.

In the back, Austin is verbally berating Vince because of what Linda has done. Vince starts to go back inside, but Austin shoves him, saying he better not walk away. They stare at each other for a while before Austin suddenly hugs Vince, but has a sort of blank stare. Fade Out.
Chris Jericho vs. Rhyno & Big Show

Jericho hits a suplex on Rhyno, then hits the springboard dropkick on the entering Show. Lionsault on Rhyno 1-2-broken by Show. Show pulls Jericho outside, whipping him against the steps and then hitting a short clothesline. Show then picks Jericho up and Press Slams him into the ring. Kick by Jericho, then an enzigrui, and both men go down. Both men are up at the count of seven, and Jericho hits a flying forearm. Show comes in and smashes Jericho, and they double team Jericho in the corner. Show whips Rhyno, but Jericho moves and then pushes Show into Rhyno. Show sets Jericho for a Show Stopper, but Jericho low blows him. Jericho goes up top and hits a missile dropkick on Show, then locks in the Walls of Jericho, but Rhyno breaks it up. Jericho goes for the Walls of Jericho on Rhyno, but Show pulls him off and hits a Show Stopper on Jericho. Rhyno gets up and Gores the Big Show before pinning Jericho 1-2-3!
In the back, Shane McMahon arrives and runs into Kane. Kane tells him that Albert is going to pay for what he did. Shane thanks Kane for saving him from Undertaker. Shane says that he's spent all week thinking about it, and says that he knows of one person that interferes in marriages: Kurt Angle. Fade Out.
Michael Cole asks Rhyno why he Gored Chris Jericho. He says that now he has beaten Jericho three times. So if Jericho wins the Title at King of the Ring, he will become the new #1 Contender.
In the back, the doctors are checking on Jericho, when Austin attacks Jericho, slamming him into walls and stomping on him. Mounted punches by Austin and a kick for good measure.
Kurt Angle Interview
-In the arena, Kurt Angle comes out. He says that he gets sick whenever he gets to Richmond, Virginia. Richmond was the capital of the Confederacy. As bad as their ancestors were, the current residents are worse. Modern-day Richmonders re-enact battles from a war that they lost! Speaking of re-enactments, tonight will see the historic re-enactment of Kurt Angle beating the hell out of Chris Benoit. Except this time, it will be in a cage. Angle has lived by one motto: Cheaters never win. Benoit is a cheater, while Angle is a winner. It is his non-cheating ways that have allowed him to be the first WWF wrestler inducted into the Amateur Wrestler Hall of Fame People have to respect that. All of the fans combined haven't accomplished a hundreth of what he has. To be honest, Angle is above the common man. He's the closest thing to a moder-day superhero there is. Think about this: he can take down any given person at any given time. Firemen, policement and the like have done a lot of great things, but they're not in the same league as Kurt Angle. He's going to defend his King of the Ring crown, and still have enough left over to beat Shane McMahon. Speaking of Shane, he knows that Shane is in the arena. Shane needs to stop hiding behind other wrestlers and come out right now. Keep Rollin'. The Undertaker comes out and down to the ring. Taker backs Angle into a corner, saying that he'll tell him when he can talk. Word has it, Angle likes to mess with other people's wives. Angle says that he's met Taker's wife, and didn't like her or find her attractive. Taker nails Angle and gives him the Last Ride. The TitanTron lights up with another video. The voice says that this is the Undertaker's home, but Sara isn't there. It cuts to a door, which a black glove opens, saying that this is where the Undertaker is hiding Sara. He's sick of the Undertaker's games, so he's left Sara a message. The camera shifts to the mirror, where the words "Sara, I know where you are" are written in lipstick. In the arena, the Undertaker storms out the ring and up the ramp, as Shane McMahon bursts out of the crowd. He picks up Angle and gives him the Olympic Slam, before being chased out by security. Fade Out.
Perry Saturn vs. Steve Blackman [KOTR Qualifying]
-OK, first Trish says that the match is at KotR. Now it turns out it's just a qualifier... thanks Trish. Video rolls of Perry being The Hilarious Trowser on SmackDown!, hitting the Wassup Headbutt, calling for "the muffins", and being polite by saying "thank you", only to recieve a 3D. Dropkick by Blackman, but Perry hits a clothesline. DDT by Saturn 1-2-kickout. Northern Lights Suplex by Saturn 1-2-kickout. Spinebuster by Blackman, but Terri gets on the apron. Trish and Terri run around the ring. Meanwhile, Saturn catches Blackman and slams him 1-2-kickout. Blackman hits a belly-belly, but Malenko gets on the apron, allowing Saturn to hit a Fisherman's Suplex on him 1-2-3! Terrri runs in, celebrating, causing Trish to run in and take her down. Malenko comes in with a kendo stick, but Blackman steals it and nails Saturn upside the head with it. Fade Out.
In the back, Debra tells Austin that he needs to calm down. She offers him a carrot. He says that he doesn't want a carrot. Does he want brocolli? No! He wants to not go to King of the Ring. What's his name? Stone Cold Steve Austin. He shows Debra that he actually does want some brocolli, by shoving half the vegetable tray in his mouth, and tossing the rest against the wall.
In the back, Hardcore and Crash tell Molly that the only way they won't beat on Spike is if she does it for them, and pins him.
In the Commissioner's Office, Terri and Dean tell Regal that Perry has become nuts from the shots to the head, so he needs SmackDown off. Regal obliges, and in comes the man in question. "British people fight dragons, so that they don't get all firey. You're welcome". Fade Out.
Dudley Boyz vs. Holly Cousins
-The D-Bombs drop and out come BuhBuh, D-Von, and Spike Dudley. Then, Hardcore, Crash, and Molly Holly come down. Spike and Crash start off, with Crash scoring a scoop slam, before tagging in Molly. Molly reluctantly steps in. The four men outside yell at the two inside to fight, but neither wants to. Hardcore knocks down Spike from the outside and tags himself in. Hardcore goes to work on Spike in the corner, and then hits a double underhook slam. Tag to Crash. Crash hits a scoop slam and goes up top, only for Spike to 'buckle him. Tag to D-Von. Flying back elbow by D-Von, then a powerslam 1-2-broken by Hardcore. BuhBuh runs in, and scoop slams Hardcore. D-Von goes up and hits the Wassup Headbutt. BuhBuh calls for the tables. They get the table outside, and BuhBuh chase after Molly, but she escapes his grasps. In the ring, the Dudleys hit a 3D on Crash. Hardcore runs in and clotheslines both men. Whiplash powerbomb on D-Von. Hardcore and BuhBuh battle on the apron, eventually knocking each other through the table. Fallen bodies of BuhBuh, Hardcore, D-Von, and Crash are scattered, as Molly and Spike eye each other from opposite corners. They meet in the middle, and Spike lays the figure four lip lock on her. Awww... Fade Out.
In the arena, the cage is lowered around the ring.
We get a new update on Triple H, this time focused on his rehabilitation. His leg looks very weird. He looks to be in pain while bending his leg 42º at his knee. Keep it up, Trips.
JR asks Test, who is at WWF New York, if he is interested in Shane's WCW. Test congratulates Shane on his Olympic Slam earlier. Test says that, if what he's heard about WCW is true, then yes, he's very interested.
Video rolls of all of Austin's blow-ups tonight.
Kurt Angle vs. Chris Benoit
-Lilian announces that you can win this Cage match by pinfall, submission, or escape. WHY? Why, oh why?!? The glass breaks, and Stone Cold Steve Austin comes out and takes a seat next to Paul and JR. Austin and JR continue their "friend turned foe" feud. Angle comes out and enters the cage, followed by the Canadian Crippler, Chris Benoit. Angle spears Benoit to start, and the door is closed. Overhead belly-belly by Angle, then another. Benoit goes for the Crossface, but Angle tosses Benoit into the cage. Angle slams Benoit's head on the turnbuckle, but Benoit reverses out and goes to work on Angle. Big Boot by Benoit, then chops. Benoit runs at Angle, but Angle flapjacks him into the cage. Angle picks up Benoit and rams him into the cage. Angle rams him into the cage again. Benoit comes back with chops and a snap suplex, then another. Angle knees Benoit down and hits an overhead waistlock suplex, and then another, and then another. Angle goes up the cage wall, but Benoit grabs his legs. They're both up on the top rope, and Benoit hits a German Suplex from the top rope! Benoit eventually gets up and goes to climb the cage, but Angle jumps up and pushes Benoit off, and then hits an elbow drop from the ropes. Both men go down again. Punches by Benoit, who then tosses Angle into the cage once, twice, three times. Benoit again goes up the cage, but Angle low blows him, causing him to fall back down to the mat. Olympic Slam on Benoit! Angle goes up the turnbuckle, looks behind himself, keeps climbing up to the top of the cage and goes for a moonsault! Sure, he missed it, but it's a sight. Benoit uses the Angle mishap to his advantage, kneeing Angle across the ring. Angle reverses a whip and tosses Benoit into the cage. Angle sets Benoit on his shoulder and rams Benoit head-first into the cage. He goes for it again, but Beniot floats over, rams Angle into the cage and hits a German suplex, then again, and again, and again, and again, and again! Benoit goes to the door, but Angle runs at him, only to be knocked into the cage again. German suplex again, and again, and again! Benoit goes up the turnbuckle, then up the cage. Austin gets up and grabs his chair. He swings at Benoit, daring him to come down. Benoit looks around, turns around, and hits the Flying Headbutt from the top of the cage! Benoit stirs and goes to the cage, but Austin nails the ref at the door and holds the door shut. Benoit tries to get out, but Austin won't let him, so Benoit dropkicks the door back into Austin's face! Benoit crawls to the cage, but Angle stirs and locks in the AngleLock on him, dragging him away and up, which allows Benoit to hit the enziguri. Benoit goes to the door again, but this time Austin slams the door in Benoit's face, giving Angle time to climb the cage and drop to the outside for the win! As the bell rings, Austin comes in with his chair and starts railing on Benoit. Austin grabs his Title belt and leaves up the ramp. He stops at the top and stares coldly at the fallen Benoit.
