Nick's room 1:45 P.M.

Running his fingers through his brownish gray hair, Derek said to Nick
after the two men had finished looking at Stark's journal on the
laptop, "That's it. I wish that stark had written more. All we have
here is that this black thing appeared two times that he was here in
Seagrove and stopped when the bells tolled. I wonder why the Legacy
didn't look into this?"

"Maybe they didn't think it was important at the time. I wonder what the
significance is of the bells tolling." Nick said to his boss.

"Me too. They been ringing for about two hundred years or longer. I didn't
see a library in this town...only a town hall. I'm going to see if I can
find out when and why the bells started tolling. I want you to stay here
and find some info on Jordan Stark." Derek said as he was getting up from
the wooden chair. He put on his black leather jacket and left the room.

After he left the room, Nick logged onto the Legacy database and found
out that Stark was a questional character and that it was rumored that
he might have crossed over to the dark side.

Town Hall records' room

Derek was going through the records and came across the date that the bells
began tolling July 5,1778 supposedly to ward off the evil spirit of
Gustave Ripley. That was all that he found out. Derek left the room and
the building and headed back to the inn.

Nick's room 3:45

There was a knock at the door, and it was Derek. Nick let him in.
Sitting on the brown wooden chair, Derek said, "I found out when the bells
began tolling. It was July 5,1778...rang to ward off the evil spirit of
Gustave Ripley. He was executed on July 5, 1776 for killing several people
he performed experiments on them. The records claim that on July 5,1777
his spirit came back and haunted the town for a whole year.Once the belltop
was errected and the bells began tolling, his spirit couldn't haunt them
anymore."

"We've got to find a way to stop the bells from tolling; so we can see what
we're dealing with." Nick said to Derek.

"My thoughts exactly. In the old days, the bells were rung by hand...don't
know if that's the case. I didn't have time to check out anything else.
The lady who let me into the room had to leave for her dr.s' appointment."
