| Monarch celebrates 15 years |

| The Monarch Florists 308 Lakeshore Road East Port Credit, Misssissauga Ontario, Canada (905) 271-4438 e-mail bix_c@hotmail.com Its amazing how fast 15 years has come and gone for The Monarch Florists of Port Credit. Those 15 years have been spent offering quality and service to their many happy customers ! On November 14, 1983 The Monarch Florists took a chance and opened their doors for the first time. Many said they wouldn't last but as Sue (one of the owners) put it " We came into this venture very seriously and without the thought that we would ever close", and serious they are, or shall we say serious they've become." Things were very different then, says Sue, we weren't nearly as organized as we are now and didn't know our market or what our potential was". Mary and Sue both admit their store has taken a great change of late. Everything in our store is now a higher end quality and our prices are still very competitive. " We always say we're going to cut out our $9.99 special for one dozen roses ", but then that day we sell 250 of them. We guess the $9.99 roses will be around for a while yet. The Monarch Florists boasts incredible roses imported from Ecuador as well .Huge heads and long stems in colours to boggle the mind." We actually sell more roses than our cut flowers now", as well The Monarch Florists has a NO QUESTIONS ASKED return policy on roses. Sue says " The quality of the roses is so superior these days, we rarely get complaints", but if we do, we replace them right away...NO QUESTIONS ASKED. Mary says " the customers can't believe we are so eager to take care of the situation". The Rose industry has dramatically changed in the last 5 years, and the quality of the roses is incredible. Our $9.99 roses will last two weeks! As far as our flowers and flower arrangements, The Monarch Florist like to keep "up to the minute" with home design treats of the day. "I guess we're known for really two things, our fresh flower arrangements and our cut bouquets.", says Mary. Fresh flower bouquets also include funeral and wedding arrangements and by the looks of it, they do plenty. Drive by any afternoon and you can see all the orders for funerals going out for delivery "Our funeral work is also unique. It must look full and lush and if our customers allow, we then add all our artistic touches. Of course after all these years the Monarch Florist still hold the prestigious position of making the 8 foot floral stoles for all the high stake thorough-bed races at Woodbine Raceway that's drape over the winning horse. Sue says, "That particular account we hold very proudly!". In 1986 they acquired a gift basket company, "The Basket Shoppe". Since that time, Chritmas is "officially out of control!". We do literally hundreds of baskets, and last year we went way over 1,000! Their corporate customers are so happy, they come back year after year. We didn't advertise the Gift Basket company, so therefore we're able to offer better quality and quantity course! Between the flowers and the Gift Baskets, Christmas keeps more than 6 employees on their feet at the Monarch Florist every season. They also carry beautiful gifts for the home at very reasonable prices; from scented candles to potpourri oils and burners to freeze dried flower arrangements so perfect you'd swear they were real. The bulk of the Monarch Florist orders come from outside the area, but Sue boasts, "Our walk in clientele has quardrupled in the last 3 years." . No other shop caters to service and wrap up the flowers and gifts, we do! Between phone orders, fax orders, wedding customers and more, the last word is "We owe everything to our loyal customers who don't even consider going anywhere else, that customer who for the last 15 years has come in 3 times a year means more than any massive orders we get...and one more thing," .Sue says, "See you in 15 years!". |
