The Werewolf
All was deathly quiet, as Scrooge crept down the slightly creaking, barely lit stairwell in deep awareness. He had no idea where the wolf was
or where he would strike.
Come on, lad. You cant hide forever
He silently whispered in the dark.
He finally reached the first floor and looked around with a small, lit candle in his hands. At the bottom of the staircase, he faced forward to where the front door was, while to the right and behind him was the kitchen, and to the left, the living room.
Scrooge heard the faint panting of the carnivorous creature. Quickly he turned around and headed toward the shadowy kitchen, stepping lightly as he crept. A few steps more and he was finally at the edge of the wall where the kitchen had begun. He slanted his back toward the foundation and side walked slowly. He then quickly turned to the corner to view the monster before him
However, there was nothing. He sighed in relief as a brisk cool wind slowed his rapidly beating heart.
Yet he still wasnt safe. No sooner did the growling, aggressive snarl fill his ears than the charging of the wolf caught him off guard. But with quick reflexes, Scrooge was able to block the furiously sharpened teeth of the wolf with his cane to prevent himself from laceration. He struggled against the great weight and strength of the beast, with blood-red teeth grinding upon the wooden stick, until finally, the stability of his only defense gave way.
I heard loud commotion coming from the floor below. Knowing that I could not leave the women here defenseless, I decided to sporadically toss the pistol to Samantha. Frightened already by the terrible noises, she was even more startled by the launching of a loaded gun toward her. She caught it.
I whisked down the stairs as quickly as I could and turned the corner to head toward the kitchen. I could see Scrooge struggling against the werewolf, just barely being able to prevent it from sinking its thorny fangs into him.
Utilizing what I had learned from before, I used my martial arts skills to execute the devastating Eagles Claw attack. Jumping into the air, I was able to tuck both feet inward, and let fly my right foot into the hulking body of the large creature with great force combined with kinetic energy of height, and cause the whimpering wolf to skid across the kitchen floor.
Now freed from his immobilization, Scrooge grasped for his cane and proceeded at running speed to unsheathe his concealed blade. Finally, he plunged the coated dagger into the wolfs ailing body, with its contents quickly spreading in a contagious manner. The wolf staggered drunkenly for a time, then collapsed. We could now rest.
I sighed from the intensity of the preceding events, and rested upon the kitchen counter. What now?
Scrooge sat upon the ground, resting his arm upon his knee. He must be permanently destroyed. Give me the gun, he ordered.
But I did not have it. I dont have it, I said.
However, emerging from the darkness were Julie and Samantha right behind. Julie held the pistol in her hand.
Is
he dead? She said gravely.
No, Scrooge answered. I think you know what must come next.
Julies eyes watered at the pitiful sight. She saw the once ravaging, rampaging, monster who was now limp upon the floor, lightly breathing and close to no recovery.
No
there has to be another way! She cried angrily.
Give me the gun, lass! Scrooge demanded.
No, I can change him! I know it! He can be cured! She tragically bellowed, tossing the gun out the window. She rushed over to the resting wolf.
Jon, I know youre in there
please come out! She shook the wolf wildly.
She continued to plea with the monster to release her once beloved boyfriend. She knew there was some way to bring him back
but nothing was working for her.
Finally, a rush of footsteps came bursting in from the back kitchen door, and a troop of uniformed officers stepped forward. Animal Control.
Get away from there, girl! The head of the patrol ordered.
She clung with all her might to the wolf, begging them not to hurt him.
Get her away from there, man! He ordered another.
A uniformed officer then took hold of the young woman, and placed her at a safe distance.
She watched in fright as the patrol members raised the rifles toward the wolf and ended its life at the very scene. She knelt down, and sobbed with hands upon her watery face.
Tis all for the better
Scrooge said.
The head of the task force radioed his comrades at his headquarters, We have the rabid wolf case all wrapped up, he said. Please send backup to remove the specimen. And with that, the case was closed.
