The Panther knelt upon the grass, carefully scourging for any clues that might have led to the whereabouts of the deadly annihalting machine, the Titan. Eaglet Girl glided with wings outstretched down to the spot where he tended to.
"Any luck?" she wondered. The Panther shook his head in dismay. "No, if that Infiltration Unit was here, I should've been able to have found some sort of clue about them already. We don't even know who sent them." He packed up his forensics supplies and looked around.
He took a small scanner from his belt pocket which seemed to be inactive. "What's that?" Eaglet Girl wondered. The Panther looked down upon the device in disappointment. "Vagabond was able to plant a tracking device on one of the intruders." He tapped the machine to make sure of its working order. "But so far, the track's gone cold."
However, at the finish of the sentence, a giant ball of what seemed to be light-greenish flaming fire exploded onto the ground near them, which would've charred them both if they had not so rapidly dodged in time.
They turned around to view a wispy floating man, engulfed in what looked to be a plasmatic aura. He held yet another wispy plasma bomb in one of his hands. "Friend of yours?" Eaglet Girl asked Panther, floating into the sky with her outspread eagle wings.
"No, never seen the guy before," The Panther replied, retaliating by tossing a Panther Disc his way. The elusive wisp of a man would have easily dodged the flying projectile, but let it pass through him like a ghostly apparation.
"Foolish Panther, I am...the Plasma Wisp!" He cried in a type of ruffled, nasaly voice. "He sounds a little congested," Eaglet Girl answered, rushing toward the wavy man with her soaring wings. She slashed at him with her sharp, blazing talon knives but to no effect, for she only caught wispy pieces of plasma that disappeared after contact. She pulled back her hands in backwards motion and rubbed them together. "Agh! It's like touching fire!" She cried.
"Careful, plasma can generate temperatures as high as the sun," The Panther explained. "The sun IS hot plasma..." he continued. Eaglet Girl carefully evaded an assault by the floating villain, and asked, "Isn't there some way to put him out?"
Panther stood in thought, watching the Plasma's every move. "Not sure... Plasma forms vary in nature, but it looks to me that he's mostly composed of flame. The various forms differ in temperature, and it looks like his structure can reach almost up to 10000 Kelvin..."
"Well, how much is that?" Eaglet Girl wondered, still escaping from the Wisp's plasmatic blasts. "It's roughly 17,540 degrees Fahrehnheit... and that's on the lower end of the chain." Eaglet Girl looked back at him in shock, as she blocked a giant blast of plasma with her bare arms. "Good to know!" She cried back, as her arms became charred by the incredible heat.
"My suit can't take this much heat, we'll have to get out of here and think of plan," Panther advised to the bird-like woman. "I'm out if you're out..." She replied.
Blue Panther then proceeded to tap into his com-link in his right ear, and contacted the headquarters. "Barret, get us outta here, it's getting a little too hot to handle around here," he telecommunicated to Goldman.
And within a second, the two heroes had vanished into thin air leaving no trace.
The New Justice Union#2: Intro to Physics
Back at the headquarters, Eaglet Girl and the Blue Panther rushed toward the main computer room in search of Goldman. As the door quickly raised open, Goldman turned to them.
"There's someone out gunning for us," The Panther explained. Goldman, in his chronium plated armor, nodded his head. "I know, I checked it out on the visuals. Looks like the guy's packin' heat," He explained.
"Yeah, and lots of it. Think your armor can take it?" The Panther wondered. Goldman nodded his head in agreement. "It'll be no sweat," he joked. Goldman slowly walked toward yet another communications link in the computer and tapped into the intercom that was interconnected to it. With the push of a button, he spoke. "Psychocess, you're needed in the Main Computer Center now."
"Laura will be able to hold the fort here, let's get down to the escape dock," Goldman said. But before they made their departure, Blue Panther interrupted them. "Hold on, let me retrieve something from the storage room," he said, and proceeded out the door, sprinting down to his destination.
As the Panther exited, a young woman with brownish-blonde hair came in, wondering what the ruckus was all about. "What's going on? Am I needed? To protect and serve, I will do my duty," she said, bowing down. Eaglet Girl raised a brow at the somewhat peculiar behavior.
"Laura, this is important. You must tend to the communications center while I'm gone. If ANYONE sends a distress call, YOU answer it," he instructed her. The young lady, heralding a green cape and cowel, knelt and bowed in politeness. "I will do my very best," she said, and rushed toward the computer intrigued by the many different colorful switches.
"Are you sure you want to do that?" Eaglet Girl wondered. Goldman smiled and nodded. "She'll be fine. Laura Rapnaski can handle the job. She's one of my most trusted associates," he assured her.
The Panther returned with a small rectangular device. "This machine can develop an electromagnetic field. Electromagnetic fields can contain Plasma," he educated. "Aren't you the Physics buff?" Eaglet Girl complimented. The Panther lowered his head in modesty. "I don't know that much, just a few things I picked up from college."
Goldman motioned the heroes to move out, and each of them departed through the teleportation center.
They arrived at the grassy field where the Plasma Wisp was found to be earlier. "This is where the guy was..." Eaglet Girl mentioned. The three of them scanned the area for any type of wispy villain.
Suddenly, out of the blue, Goldman spotted the fiend, who was in mid-fire with a blast of hot plasma at the other unguarded heroes. "Look out!" Goldman quickly replied, leaping forward to shield them from the blast. The Plasma crashed against Goldman's chronium gold-plated suit, dissipating in its midst upon contact, tiny shards of plasma wisp scattered in various directions and then proceeded to vanish.
Panther gave the device to Eaglet Girl. "Now! Do it now!" He instructed her. With quick talons she picked up the device in her grasp and soared straight for the wisp, dodging any attempts to fry her. "Foolish Eagle Woman! You know it's impossible for you to harm me!" He cried, in his ruffled, nasaly tone.
"That's what you think," Eaglet Girl threatened, as she inched her way closer to the floating plasma. Then, the Plasma Wisp realized what he was in for. His eyes peered to the object that Eaglet Girl was holding in her hands, and soon widened in shock thereafter. "What!? No! That's an electromagnetic field generator!" He cried in horror. "It's time to kick it up a notch!" He nerdishly affirmed.
He held out two hands before him, and without warning came a blast of horrific heatful rays of scorching plasma, which burned the courageous heroine head on. Fortunately, she had dropped the device before she was struck, leaving the object in tact. With smoke slowly billowing from her body, Eaglet Girl fell to the ground with many minor, but searing burns. The Panther quickly dashed to save the device and caught it in hand, while Goldman proceeded to safely catch Eaglet Girl.
"Are you ok?" He asked. "You took a nasty hit there," he informed her. "Yeah I know," Eaglet Girl replied. "But I'll be okay. If it weren't for my tough skin I would've been fried," she said fadingly, soon falling into unconsciousness from weakness.
"You're next you tin-plated gold man!" The nasty Plasma Wisp cried, pointing and taunting the man. Goldman put Eaglet Girl aside to a safe haven and turned back to the villain. "Take your best shot," he yelled back motioning the villain to do his worst.
Once again, the Plasma Wisp held out his hands in an attempt to summon yet another master blow of heat. With palms outstretched, a second beam of sorching hot heat had been blasted across the plains and into the hard-heated chronium armor of Goldman, who used his armor to shield himself and block the blast.
But the Plasma Wisp would not desist, and he continued to send a continuous beam of feverish blazes toward the stout and resolute gold warrior. But, it was only to stall, for climbing upon a tree top was the ever digilent Panther, who had in his hands the device that would stop the raging maniac.
With great leg strength, the Panther pushed himself off the tree and high up into the air, closing in on the Wisp. In one flip of the switch, the device was activated, and a surging electromagnetic field surrounded the Wisp, leaving him defenseless and imprisoned.
"Noooo!" He cried, as his Plasma Beam began to falter, and eventually disappear. "How could I have let my guard down!?" He cried in frustration.
The two heroes approached each other in agreement. "Let's get him back to headquarters for questioning," the Panther said. Goldman nodded, and he with Eaglet Girl upon his back, was transported with the Blue Panther back to the headquarters.
Back in a dark room, in a secretive building across the city, was an unidentified man sitting upon a chair by a table with a telephone. With boisterous resonation the phone began to ring, and the man quickly picked up the phone. "Hello? What is it?!" he said, in an anxious voice.
Another voice across the line spoke. "Sir, Plasma Wisp was unable to defeat the Justice Union members," it said. The seated man let out an angry cry. "What do you mean?" he asked. The voice behind the line hesitated, then timidly spoke once more. "Well, you see, they've detained him in their headquarters for questioning." The seated man slammed the table with his fist, causing a flowered vase to rattle.
"Well you see to it that he gets out!" Cried the seated man. The voice behind the line spoke anxiously once more. "Yes, sir! Right away! Matterman is being sent to infiltrate the headquarters right this moment!"
The couched man sighed in relief, and rubbed his hand through his dark brown hair. "Very good. And when they come looking for him, I'll have more of my 'people' waiting for them.... Muehehehe..." he darkly spoke deviously smirking along the way.
He hung up the phone with a slam of the wrist, and beckoned for his 'people' to come. "Gravity Girl, Friction Man, Kinetica! Get over here..." he demanded.
At the sound of his voice, three fully and uniquely outfitted superheroes came out of the darkness and before their creator. "My Physics Friends, the Injustice Union has captured your comrade. It is your duty to give them a warm welcome once they return to find Plasma Wisp after his escape."
The three heroes nodded in agreement, and like obedient robots filed out the door... |
