"What's this?!" Punchinello retorted, reaching from his pouch yet another item.

"Well it looks to me like it's an explosive! Which releases a fiery power and splattering gasoline on impact! Maybe... OH! Just maybe... I might DROP IT! Uh-oh! Here I go!"

I looked up from my grounded stance, as the smoke stung my eyes. It was as if he was putting on a show, clumsily battering the explosive object around as if he were to drop it. It was very convincing, but of course, I knew it was all controlled. Finally, in the end, he threw it into the larger room behind me, and leapt out the cracked window.

He laughed psychotically once again. "HAHA! So Long SUCKERS! HAVE A BLAST!"

And as his voice faded, the bomb had seemed to strike the ground, for a great explosion blasted my ear drums and shook the foundations of the building, and a great fiery light was shining from the other room. I was knocked forward. I had to get out, but I couldn't seem to get a hold of myself. I continued to cough, which distracted my thinking. I tried to get out of it, I tried, on my own. And even then, deep down, I had hoped there would be some type of familiar or even nameless hero or heroine who would come crashing through the window and heroically save my hide. But part of me also knew that this time I was alone, and I had to save myself.

The fire was brewing ever closer now, due to the gasoline. More smoke clouded my vision and engulfed my breathing. I had to stay low to the ground, so I crawled. I couldn't see where I was going. Everything was clouded, I felt like I was in a daze. I could feel the burning, hot, fire exhaling some of its own heat upon my now sweating skin. I could not panic. With each movement, my hands felt what I could not see before me, until finally, I reached the end of the room. And this, I had hoped, relying on my memory, that this was the area where Punchinello had broken through. I hauled myself upward and saw the moonlight. This was it, I had done it. But I was not safe yet.

I breathed in the fresh, night air as it relieved my lungs with its oxygenated delight. And I climbed out of the broken window, despite the sharp shards that were left behind. There was a small ledge that I was able to stand upon, and I held on tightly to the pane of the window as I steadied myself upon it. To the right was a small drain pipe, and I scurried toward it slowly. And finally, I gradually was able to climb down with relative ease. I was safe at last.

I peered at the burning building, and I heard the sirens of the fire brigade rushing toward the scene. I took off my hat and coat to let off some heat, and I left the scene of the latest crime.
