Foolish Follies: Part One
It was a fresh, warmly lit night, as Tim Higher sat on his couch, avidly interested in the screen that emitted streaks of bright blue light that skewered away the dimly dark room he was in. The television was thoroughly running, and Tim's favorite, or at least one of his favorite, tv shows was blooming through his fixated, mesmerized eyes. He burst in laughter at one of the jokes played on the children, as that was what they did on the television program, "Tomfoolery," airing on "Nightly Ntertainment."
"Buahaha! Stinkin' kids, get what you deserve..." He said, besmirkingly, waving his fist forward, and remembering the days where some wily little children had played tricks upon him.
As the commercials aired one-by-one, Tim decided to take leave of his seat and get a small midnight snack. As he passed by his roommate's room, he could hear the poundings of Chase and his girlfriend Abigail very vaguely.
He reached for the fridge, and opened the door, revealing a vast array of various foods of dairy, liquid, spoiled meats, as well as some scarred fruits and vegetables growing from the back. "Stinkin' Chase, doesn't even bother to get groceries while I work all day," he said, angrily. He reached for a can of Popsi and a piece of leftover chicken contained in what was a small container of plastic tupperware. "Hope nothing's growing on this thing..." he said, closing the door with his foot and returning to the living room.
"Ooh! I'm missing the next prank!" He cried, hurriedly sprinting to his seat, with condiments in hand and sitting down to be engrossed in the hi-jinks yet again.
He watched as the set was placed in a small candy store, heralding various bright colors of different types of sweets, from lollipops, gumballs, jawbreakers, gummi worms and bears, as well as many other sugar-heightened foods. The racks stood high, and children were decorated around the corners of every shelf full of candy. An imposing newsman stood in front of the children, explaining the 'tomfoolery' that was to deceive them.
"I'm sorry kids... the candy you just ate... is poison," he said, rather emotionlessly.
"Buahahahahaha!" Tim laughed with certain glee, enjoying the fear-boding faces that the children expressed as they realized the reality that was their illusion.
But soon, to his surprise, the children's faces soon began to become ill with green sickness. A young, pale-faced girls' countenance began to become ghostly white as her eyes shrunk down to the size of peas, and she clutched what seemed to be her writhing stomach in agony. In just a few moments, she, as well as the many other children, began to reject the sweets that they had just consumed, like a faucet expelling muddy water, upon the ground. They each fell upon the floor, vomiting even more than they had eaten, with hands pushed upon the floor, as their stomachs surged with acidic substance. The newsman danced with feet moving furiously trying to avoid the mess. He stood back.
"No, children, it was just a joke! He said, there's no real poison!" He cried, in a panicked fright.
What seemed to be a technical employee came into the scene, an unplanned appearance in the show, and angrily shouted at the newsman.
"What's going on!? Why are they throwing up!? Who did this? Who poisoned the candy for real?!" He cried, with fists raising high into the air.
Tim now, had eyes widened in shock as he witnessed the gruesome events that were now before him.
"Man... I didn't know this was live..." he said.
"Get the prop manager, he's got to be responsible! Shut off the camera!" He cursed. "Shut off the camera!"
And with that, the relatively familiar blue screen, and the long-extending beeping noise which many people have been accustomed to dislike blared through the set, and the words "Technical Difficulties" were displayed in bold, white letters.
Tim leaned forward in great dissatisfaction. "Hey! What happened to my show! What happened to the children!?" He cried.
But the show would not come back, not then, and not in the future, for the devious acts committed had caused its complete cancellation for good.
