* In 1988 the boys, who were not big wrestling fans at the time, correctly predicted that Macho Man Randy Savage would win Wrestlemania IV. They began to watch wrestling regularly, and soon became big WWF fans.

* Jeff and Matt received a trampoline for Christmas that year. They cut up chairs to make the posts, and used garden hose and cables to make ropes. Soon, they began to hold wrestling matches dressed in baseball pants and ski masks. At only 14 and 11, the brothers saved their money and rented video cameras to film their PPV-like (they even had cardboard belts) performances, making around 50 videos.

* The Hardys met up with Kenneth Morgan, who made them a 20 x 20 ring with a trampoline in the middle. They began to get invitations to perform at local county fairs.

* During one of these shows, Matt and Jeff met an Indy wrestler who invited them to an Italion Stallion show. After several months with no word back from the Stallion, Matt got a call asking if he wanted to work for the WWF as a jobber. Jeff was soon added to the roster as well.

* Despite the face that neither had much experience in a hard ring (only five matches), the boys, now 19 and 16, joined up eagerly.

* Matt's sixth match in a hard ring was against Nikolai Volkoff at a live RAW show. Jeff's was against Razor Ramone. Let's just say he lost...badly.

* Every few months, the Hardys would go back to the WWF under the Italion Stallion, but that didn't work very well for them, because he took 66% of the money they made.

* After about a year Matt and Jeff, who had begun to call themselves the Hardy Boys, started getting interest from the WWF. They spoke about wanting to use them in the future.

* By March of 1998, they got offers of being put under contract.

* By May of 1998, they had signed. Keep in mind, Matt and Jeff are only 23 and 20 at the time.

* Being signed with the WWF did not make everything just peachy for the boys. Because of their youth, they were often the targets of insults and practical jokes (at one point all of their gear, from wrestling attire to credit cards vanished; it was later found in the dumpster). Yet, Matt and Jeff continued to work their asses off, and they began to move forward in the business.

* It wasn't until May of 1999 that the Hardy Boys really came into their own. They took on Michael Hayes as manager, and with him, came a darker, edgier persona (ie. no more plaid pants!). Matt and Jeff started filling the skeleton of the Hardy Boyz.

* On June 29th, 1999, during a RAW taping in Fayetteville North Carolina, the Hardy Boyz beat the Acolytes to win the tag team championship. Being 24 and 21, they were the youngest wrestlers ever to hold the belts.

* On July 25th, 1999, the Hardyz loss their belts in a no disqualification match with Hayes against the Acolytes. During their short reign, however, they proved they were a force to be reckoned with.

* During August of 1999, Matt and Jeff started a feud with Edge and Christian, dumped Hayes as their manager (after much speculation that he was only holding them back), and formed the New Brood with Gangrel. To many, this might have been a career killer.

* October 17th, 1999 is the day that the Hardy Boyz showed the world just what they were made of. In the now legendary Ladder match at No Mercy (the final competition in the Terri Runnels Invitational Tournament), Matt, Jeff, Edge and Christian gave their audience nearly fifteen minutes, of high-flying, risky, acrobatic excellence. Jeff managed to snag the hundred thousand dollars and Terri as a manager, but all four men were given a standing ovation. This match was awarded Match of the Year, and probably the reason why No Mercy was considered the Pay Per View of the Year as well.

* The Hardy Boyz finally dump Gangrel in October of 1999, heading out of the stable to create their own spotlight.

* December of 1999 was not Matt Hardy's best month. During a four-way cage match with Christian and Edge, Jeff accidentally broke Matt's nose when he hit him with a 450 splash. Later in the month, Al Snow broke a few of Matt's fingers when he interfered in a match on Jeff's behalf (on the bright side, Jeff did win). For the short period time that Matt was on the shelf, Jeff proved he could hold his own in singles competition too.

* At Royal Rumble on January 23rd, 2000 give the crowd another amazing battle against the Dudleyz. At one point, Jeff Swanton Bombs off of a balcony. Needless to say, our Boyz emerged victorious.

* Terri finally turned on Matt and Jeff at No Way Out (January 27th 2000). Unfortunately, this little twist cost the Boyz number-one contendership for the tag team titles.

* Can we say history in the making? At Wrestlemania 2000 (April 2nd), the Hardy Boyz competed in a first ever Triangle Ladder Match against the Dudleyz, Edge and Christian. All teams gave breathtaking performances (with Jeff performing and insane Swanton bomb off of a really high ladder onto Buh Buh Ray). That match came to an end as Edge, Christian and Matt struggled to reach the belt. Edge pushed Matt off the ladder, and he fell to brutally crash through a table. This secured Christian and Edge as the champs. Wrestlemania is my first PPV, and that match stunned me. It is the reason why I got hooked to WWF, and my introduction to the Boyz. That's why they are my idols.

* Matt won the Hardcore Championship in a surprise fight against Crash Holly on April 24th of 2000. He lost it six days later, however, at Backlash against Crash Holly, Tazz, Perry Saturn, Hardcore Holly, and brother Jeff.

* Matt and Jeff are paired with Lita in June of 2000. This really boosts both of their popularity, and creates interest in the feud they start with Trish Stratus and T & A. I think this was an excellent decision, Amy Dumas is an amazing wrestler, and her image slides right in with the Hardy Boyz.

* The Hardy Boyz feud with Edge and Christian (the Tag Team Champs) again after several cheap shots by the Canadian pretty-boys. It is expected that this feud will lead up to a Title Match at Summerslam, where the boys will hopefully win. It's in Raleigh North Carolina, so it would be nice for them to show off in front of their fellow southerners.

* August 17th, 2000, in Raleigh NC Matt and Jeff gave their audience yet another dazzling display of athleticism. SummerSlam had the world's first TLC (tables, ladders and chairs oh my) match, and it was amazing, dangerous and death defying; the Hardy Boyz style. They fought (and contrary to expectations, lost) Edge and Christian, and the Dudley Boyz for the Tag Team Championships. Some of the highlights were Matt and Jeff both doing leg drops from the top of a ladder onto Christian (Jeff actually leap frogged over the top rope), Jeff missing a swanton bomb from a twenty foot ladder and crashing through a table, Matt getting tipped over on a ladder through a table, and Jeff actually dangling above the ring, hanging onto the ropes. After seeing this match and the effort put forth by all sides, all I can do is clap wildly.

* September 24th, 2000. At Unforgiven in Philidelphia the Hardy Boyz regain the gold! In an incredible, brutal, bloody cage match, Edge, Christian, Matt and Jeff all proved once again that they could make their match a highlight of the night. Early on in the match, Jeff fell out of the cage, leaving Matt to demonstrate his solid wrestling skills agianst not one, but two, great athletes. Some of the most amazing stunts were Jeff tossing a ladder at Christian (who was dangling from the top of the cage), a hurricanrana from Lita to C off the top of a ladder, Jeff's insance corkscrew from the top of the cage, and the vengeful con-chair-to which sent Edge sailing back to the canvas. The Boys were bloody, hurt, tired and triumphant as they exited to ring and staggered up the ramp. The young tag teams stole the show again, at an amazing pay-per-view overall.

* WWF made their premiere on TNN on the 25th of September (2000). The Hardy Boyz defended their titles (just a day after the Unforgiven match) against their rivals from Canada (Edge and Christian) in a ladder match. Matt was bleeding again, and Jeff looked broken and dazed at the end of the match. Despite the former champs' best efforts (Edge performed an amazin spear off a ladder to hit Jeff midair) Matt made the climb to grab the belts and keep the titles. I have so much respect for the way all of these guys put their bodies on the line night after night.

*The Hardy boyz lose theor titles at No Mercy 2000 to Los Conquistadors (edge and christian) in a match were the conquistadors finish the boyz off with christians patented manouever the impaler.

*The WWF finds out that edge and christian paid 2 men to be los conquistadors because they are caught on camera telling los conquistadors what to do.

*Edge and christian win a title shot at los conquistadors and win. The next night on RAW, the Hardyz, Disguised as los conquistadors, win back the titles off of edge and christian. Commisioner Foley comes out and addresses the crowd and tells themn that he knew the hardyz were dressed as los conquistadors

*The hardyz are 3 time and current tag team champions
