My favorite line is 10 - 6lb silverthread or shakespear line. IN my expeareances with sun fish these are the best luers i have tried. Most panfish lurs are small. my favorit for all kinds of panfish is the marabou jig. variants like the road runner are also good. A lour that I have caught them on also is the little rebbel chrick hopper, and tenny weeny craw. Poppers and small flies woork good on a hat summer night just about anny floating small fly will produce good catches. The thing to remember when fishing for panfish is mimick their natural food. Small water creatures and terrestreal insects is what you need to have your bait looking like. Live bait My favorite live bait for sunfish is waxworms if you can't catch them on that then you arn't gone a catch em. For crappie I like minows they seam to work when nothing else will. For rock bass my all time favorit bait is live craw fish. other baits include crickets, grasshoppers, night crawlers, red worms, garden worms, leeches, clam meat grass shrimp, meal worms, and all maner of small flying insects. the best time and place for me to catch sunfish is in the spring and summer. In the spring they are on the beads and will strike at anything that they feel is a threat to their nest. The best place to catch them is arround cover that is both in the water and sticks out of the water. |
